Was a heavy line. Iv been chasing redemption I don’t deserve. I used to shower my wife and kids with gifts and money because I was never home and out dealing drugs. Basically an absence father/husband . So I would try to buy their love because I wasn’t there to earn it. Then I went to prison for drug trafficking. So I abandoned them even more..& Visiting your wife and kids through a glass window once a month is enough to nearly break any man. So I changed my ways..I’m out now and trying to make up for lost time even tho I feel like I don’t deserve redemption I will continue to try!

They're beating a dead horse at this point. This was already all established and brought to a conclusion at the end of Ragnarok. I would have preferred a short story-driven DLC with Atreus and his journey beginning, kinda like an episode/challenge before actually starting his journey overseas to a new realm. Been hoping that Kratos's story is finally done, Atreus becoming the new main protagonist, and the gameplay returning to the more zoomed out and linear hack'n'slash the original trilogy was. Athena is still out there somewhere, don't know if she actually appeared in GoW2016 or just an illusion, probably just an illusion, but she could try to manipulate Atreus and gift/bound him his own chained blades.

I kinda hoped the young Kratos to respond and have a dialogue, maybe even respond like "You know well as to why we did this! Yet you blame only us! You think that it's so eazy to deal with it when your father is a lust obsessed tyrant who thought that stuffing a part of himself in a box alongside all the hope is a good idea! No it wasn't! Zeus only tore a part of himself out, he also tore his own hope out with this. That's the despot who ruled the realm! Yes what we did was disgusting! But guess as to why i became a monster! I hated myself so much that i didn't even care to look into my past actions and so did you! Keep hating yourself and you will do more things that will make you hate yourself even more! Vicious cycle is formed this way!" to old Kratos while making some points about how hating one's own self and seeing one's self as unworthy of forgiveness will lead person down the path of self hatred which lead young Kratos to a path of being a bloothirsty god and eventually coming down a vengeful path and having him kill all the gods. While young Kratos was a flawed and rage fueled man, he also was still inteligent despite it being clouded, it's same inteligence, while older Kratos had wisdom younger Kratos should at least give some arguments back, maybe sound a bit reasonable despite being angry having that inteligence, not supported by wisdom but not weighted down by centuries of regret.

Christopher Judge delivers a stunning performance in this. I still think it would've been funny to hear Terrence Carson reprise his role as the voice of Young Kratos, saying even one or two lines. Then again, Young Kratos remaining silent is also a powerful and good choice.

I feel the same, it would have been a nice surprise to see Terrence back, but leaving the young Kratos silent and stoic, letting old Kratos look at who he was and accept what he did and is powerful. The young Kratos does not interrupt or talk back, he silently accepts judgement.

@DarkRei7 11 ай бұрын
I think these are the seeds for a God Of War 1 remake you can't let that model go to waste and Sony isn't interested in porting the PS2 games to PS5. There's a lot of interest in action games after the success of Hi-Fi Rush, Bayonetta 3, FF16... IMO they're cooking a remake. They could have remade Kratos' model from the start of 2 with the armour since he was the god of war then, or remade the more iconic model from 2 and 3 with the stomach scar and the more ragged clothes but they specifically chose the Kratos model from GOW 2005.

Hes basically looking at himself, and hes forgiving himself.. As His pale Ash skin is going away.. He letted the Bandages go to show that hes free to make his own choices to be a Kind God... To not let Anger once again turn him into a Monster.. Kratos has Truly became a Kind god that instead of Destorying.. He wants to Create, So that others Cannot make the same mistake he did...

I actually prefer this. I mean he could have just had him defend himself from the younger one, but him just talking, confronting himself and his inner demons to find peace is better imo. This is mostly because it's something Kratos was always avoiding. An Inner reflection is something he never did and it shows character growth since he's actually talking through his own pain. It's therapeutic for a character who never got a guiding hand nor was taught how to resolve things with language and retrospective thinking.

I know it’s been a while since you commented this but, and I know it’s not my place to suggest this, but if you can, maybe try and reach out to your wife, tell her that you’re sorry (and mean it), tell her you love her, and that you regret what you did to her. Don’t expect her to forgive you, and I can’t promise you will ever get back what you once had, but if you have a heart and mind willing to change, I believe anything is possible. But before that can happen, before anyone can forgive you, you have to forgive yourself. I’m eighteen years old, and already have a lot of regrets, mainly due to my political beliefs, I’m afraid that I’ll become someone I’m destined to become, a hateful religious zealot of my own ego, who oppresses those different than myself, people who never choose to be the way that they are, like I never choose to be the way that I am. I could sit here, and allow myself to be overcome by this worthless guilt that only chains me to the past I no longer have control over. But no, i refuse, instead I choose regret, because regret is what paves the way for redemption, for reconciliation, for forgiveness, and for growth. The only promise in life is death, the rest is up to you. Take care mysterious internet person.

kratos fighting his older self is basically taking away all of his development from the nordic saga. remember that kratos spent all of gow 2018 being ashamed of his past and is constantly trying to fight it as a way to sow the wounds he left. But by the end of gow 2018 and throughout the entire ragnarok game…we see Kratos finally accept that his greek era will forever be apart of him despite how hard he tried to fight/hide it in the 2018. Kratos sitting on the throne only proves his strength emotionally and how his connections with tyr, faye, atreus, etc…have only strengthened him and allowed him to accept the worst of his past.

This ending shake my core deep down my spirit. And i understand why they litterally gave it to us. I am not only a fan of God of War, when I was young, and all my family left me, i was wounderimg from friend house to foster house when I leave hell. I lived with crazy people that dont let me quit my home, always making me work, couldnt even do school homework, i found myself in kratos who lost everything but still charge at what he believe. He gave me so much strenght to keep going forward. I was getting beat sometimes just because i had nothing to defend myself than myself. I was enrage for so many years because of that. I had 3 kids now, and i am a good father who always tried to be better ... this hit me with such force when i saw it yesterday... i finally felt like ... i was finally enough, just like him. Thanks for this game to have been at my sides. And for the dedication of the developpers to give this opportunity to myself to face any evil that i had to face in life.

From what I’ve seen from the DLC it really ask us the same questions that Kratos wondered. Was what he did throughout the original God of War just or not, as we can see his legacy was complicated filled with him doing horrible things, realizing the monster he was, and seeking the only thing he had left which was hate and vengeance, and his own death. We wonder, and contemplate a series we once thought of as mindless fun in a serious and nuanced way, showing us how much we grew in our ideals, morals, and ethics from when we were young. In the end Kratos is reminded of what Pandora said about hope and how it was what we fought for when we had nothing else. That was when Kratos began to regain his humanity and what by the end of Valhalla he concluded too, that he made terrible mistakes in his blind pursuit of revenge and destruction but was given a chance through his wife and son to be better and now sits on his throne not as a god of war, but one of hope, as we as the ones who have traveled on this journey with him must keep alive for those we love and care for.

And yet Santa Monica studios captures the beautiful, interpersonal journey about a man learning to accept himself (reminding all of us to do the same) to me will be one of the greatest works of art in terms of video gaming ever so far. 1000 out of 10 game. Made me look at myself and how to handle my own situations in life differently. Motivates me to become a better man. Young Kratos never says a word, and disappears without a moment of fanfare. Because, as much as Kratos would like, he's NOT a different person. There is no evil form of his past to confront, and shout down, and destroy. It's all, always, been him. He says, "you are more than that." And he realizes; "I am more than that." And that means there's no enemy left in himself to vanquish. Just a hope that he, that everyone, can become better.
