This really helps understand more about him and faye. He failed Lysandra, so he did not want to fail Faye this time, that's why he followed her advices to be there for Atreus and that is why he was so loyal to her. Man, this game🤧🤧

It was when it first came out, and continues to be the best and most well written games I’ve ever played. And I don’t say that lightly I’ve played some amazing game over the years and GOW is tops for me.

Lysandra was very unusual, because Spartan women went through the same degree of training as the men. However, they were charged with managing the family estates and economy, but would fight as full soldiers if those were threatened. So the fact she wanted a kinder, more measured Kratos makes her a lot like Faye.

Realize the game style from this clip. Rerun in the same area, the same picked up item to consider Kratos self until he release himself and tell all his story without any hesitation in his mind. Once he can pass his point, the new area is opened

the only things we do know about here are... she was Kratos's first wife, they met during one of Kratos's promotion ceremonies, he was instantly drawn to her, and although he still had affairs with other women after their marriage, he never loved those one time lovers as deeply as he did Lyssandra some time after they got married, Lyssandra got pregnant and gave birth to their daughter, Calliope, but Calliope was found to be born sickly, there was some kind of leprosy epidemic going on in Sparta that caused a lot of children to be born sickly like Calliope, and as per Spartan tradition, Calliope would have to be taken to a cliff and thrown off of it to her doom like discarded trash, since Spartans only raised strong children Lyssandra begged Kratos to save their daughter, and so Kratos went on a journey to find the Asclepius's Ambrosia, he was able to get the medicine back and use it to cure Calliope, who was allowed to live little did Kratos know, the quest to find the ambrosia was actually a wager set by the Gods, Ares, Hermes, Hades, Poseidon, Helios, and Artemis all caused some sort of plague upon their chosen champions to force them to find the ambrosia as a means of survival, Ares had picked Kratos as a champion and won the wager, earning himself a new temple

as the wife of Kratos, she raised their daughter at home, while her husband was out fighting wars, and when ever Kratos found time to come home for visits, he would always bring them gifts, one time, he gave Lyssandra a necklace and carved a flute for Calliope as Kratos got more arrogant and claimed to fight for the glory of Sparta, Lyssandra became upset with him and believed that he did all the fighting to satiate his own blood thirst for war and conquest after Kratos sold himself to Ares, Lyssandra and Calliope were taken by Ares and placed in a temple within a village that worshipped Athena, Kratos came to destroy the village under the orders of Ares and ended up killing Lyssandra and Calliope in a fit of bloodlust what happened to Lyssandra after that is unknown, Calliope's soul went to the Elysium Fields, but we don't know if the same goes for her mother

the memory of Lyssandra continued to haunt Kratos the Furies actually took on Lyssandra's form to try and trick Kratos, but he learned to see through their illusions Gaea was seen using Lyssandra's form to encourage Kratos to continue his quest to find the Sisters of Fate Kratos could have chosen to use the time traveling powers he gained when he took control of the Loom of Fate to save his family, but he chose instead to get revenge

Kratos is not wrong when he said that enemies can never be turned to friends and often have to be annihilated. You never know when forgiving an enemy will be disastrous because they will use it to betray you

"that the carnage and suffering I inflicted on those my army conquered was a choice" I don't think the writers understand what ancient Sparta was like. Or what Spartan women were like.

First, illogical fallacy of generalization. It is safe to assume that most Spartan women of that time have a common archetype. It is plainly stupid to assume that all of them are like thay, without a degree of variation amongst them. They are all still as human as we are today, so all of them could be so varied in their personalities while still retaining common values and virtues they believed in at the time. Modern western women are known to be more open to sex than their asian counterparts. Would you assume that there is not a single prudent woman that exists in the western societies? No. That is a blatantly stupid assumption. Quite frankly, you reek of ignorance and racism just from this comment alone.

@@LTDoge-dm3jr could not have said it better. Kratos himself was an exceptional individual, who's to say she wasn't also exceptional in her kind and merciful way ?

The point of the discussion was that Kratos, in his youth, long before becoming the ghost of Sparta, was ruthless to his enemies, even more so than anyone else up the chain of command during his tenure. This was a Krato who wanted to set himself apart from anyone else who commanded or led men into battle, thought that mercy or any clemency only meant future enemies, and felt that only a message in bloodshed would act like a deterrent for anyone else foolish to rise up and fight the Spartan empire. His wife tried to get him to think that not just the nations at war or those crossed with Sparta but the little towns and villages along the way that had nothing to do with the conflict should be spared the torch. And from what we know of Kratos's time as a Spartan commander, he spared no one, regardless of who or what they were, if they were in the way they were left in ruins to achieve his ultimate goal.

@@LTDoge-dm3jr You know what you're right. It's absolutely possible that a Spartan woman could have our modern 21st century values 2000+ years ago. Despite being a member of the slaving imperialistic Spartan people who existed in an era of human history where genocide and mass rape were expected in war. I'm sure Kratos's wife was very progressive and cared about the people her city state conquered. Then she went right back to whipping her helots lmao
