She joined the School of the Lynx according to her medallion. The School of the Wolf no longer had the means to make Witchers. But seeing how Ciri was always more acrobatic in her sword swings, a cat type school would be perfect for her.

I don't know how they'll explain how Ciri was able to undergo the Witcher mutations (if she did), but even in the books, she was not normal; she was able to consume Witcher potions (White Gull, if I remember correctly) without becoming deathly ill or passing. That is NOT normal. Combine the defeat of the Wild Hunt and the destruction of the White Frost at the end of The Witcher 3, along with another Conjunction of the Spheres which could have easily repopulated the world with monsters again, and there would be PLENTY of work for a Witcher. I could easily see the foundation and beginning of a new School in the Lynx. And we who played the games and read the books know that the knowledge of the creation of Witchers was not lost; just suppressed. For heaven's sake, Yennifer was able to use an incomplete Trial of the Grasses to restore Avallac'h. Since Magic is as much of a Science as Science in The Witcher universe, I could easily make myself believe that Yennifer would have been able to tailor-make training schemes, potions, chemistry and other sundries especially for Ciri. Is it correct to say that The Witcher 4 no longer follows what we know of as canon? Yes, because Andrzej Sapkowski only wrote so many novels.Does it matter to me, personally? No; because a good story, no matter the format in which it is presented should (and in fact, MUST) be able to stand on it's own merits, without other media being a requirement for its understanding. TL;DR This game looks amazing, and I cannot wait to see what it looks like and how it plays when it comes out in a few years!

High chances are it's her Elder Blood that allowed her to survive the Trial. I know lore/book there's.....1 in 10k women who could possibly do the trial due to genetic abnormalities like having endometriosis (at least the hybrid trial from School of Cats that the Manticore School adapted) and it's still 1 of 4 who actually survive it's after effects. @@iHaveOneArm The Elder Blood is a convenient plot device; as necessary, it does whatever the author needs it to do: in this case, survive the Trials and their after-effects. But a GOOD plot device (not JUST convenient) will make this seem both natural and believable. Geralt already said in The Witcher 3 said that 'space is no obstacle for her'; with just the Elder Blood alone, she was able to destroy 2 of the 3 Crones of Velen. Imagine a Ciri ten or so years older, more jaded due to human stupidity, and kept busy hunting monsters that have bred like rabbits. I just wonder what sort of test or pressure could be brought against Ciri to REALLY wear at her considering she's already stood against at least one apocalyptic event, and borne witness to both the loss of her home and the death of her grandfather-figure... I apologize for being all over the place, but this trailer, and your response, have given me much to think about.

I dont get why people are complaining about this supposedly ruining the lore, while ignoring all the other times CDPR changed the lore. Like seriously. Geralt and Yen literally died at the end of the books, but CDPR retconned that and brought them back. Thats far more egregious than making Ciri a witcher.

I hated playing as Ciri in Witcher 3... and come on.. she should have been WAY more powerful than this. She is THE most powerful being in the Witcher universe. This feels like they nerfed her. I get it.. I read all the books multiple times. Played the games far more than that.. especially Witcher 3. So I get how it "makes sense". It makes sense like how Robin takes over as Batman.. which I hated as well. I'd rather them just bring Geralt out of retirement. Anyone who thinks he would have actually retire don't know Geralt. Geralt wasnt just a normal witcher he was different which made him more interesting and the blood and wine DLC was a perfect send off to a man that always struggled between love and his duties. He finally got the love ending. Ciri is gonan have a similar playstyle to any witcher her gameplay in the witcher 3 means nothing ? Shes gonna be a sorceress witcher in this its gonna be fucking awesome. ( some parts geralt some parts yen). Her elder blood powers are more then likely gone here either due to the witcher trials or the white frost shit.

I disagree, I would hate the idea of ruining the perfect ending for Geralt after Blood & Wine. He DESERVES to be the first witcher to die on his bed of old age besides the woman he loves. It makes more sense to play as Ciri, which of course means they had to find a way to lore wise and gameplaywise balance her because then it wouldn't be a fun experience.
