A relationship with a BPD is a hell of an emotionnal ride, always going back and forth, hot and cold, reversing guilt and a double dose of emotionnal abuse, a shitload of lies and manipulation. All for the sake of the BPD person to avoid abandonment. Doesn't make any sense if not seing from their perspective, but that's how it is, and the very reason they carry a train wreck of relationships is because they can't, at least without serious therapy, see anything but there perspective. That being said, as much as I firmly believe that a partner to a BPD is a victim, and in most cases requires therapy after the abuse, a long term relationship with a BPD implies a codependancy. In other words, it takes a high vulnerability and a typically low self esteem, often combined with an empathy out of control, to stay for long and go as far as having children with a BPD. Anyone can fall for the sex and dating trap, especially because this personnality disorder often goes with quite interesting and creative aspects that makes the person attractive to a lot. As well as the " crazy girl " energy, to use a trivial yet commonly shared intuition. But not everyone will fall for a long term relationship, with such a chaotic mind. Takes two to tango. Ps : men have it too, I'm just less familiar with their behaviors and if they differ from a women with bpd in any aspect.

@@H0kram as a woman coming out of a 10 year relationship with someone with diagnosed, untreated BPD, what you say here rings very true, both in terms of them and me. @@H0kram We’re not all like that. Sociopaths are mostly physically aggressive or it’s low intelligence. I’ve BPD and am in therapy. Even before that say my senior year of high school, I learned to isolate myself when I had my breakdowns. Oh sure when I first got sick at 15 or 16, I did exhibit the behaviors but I was never physically violent. I just screamed at my friends but most of them were narcissists who just laughed at me anyway. But people with BPD feel every emotion intensely. You need to tell them to go to therapy or call emergency services instead of bitching online.

The very second that doctor demanded Gilbert stay away from his patients should have been a blaring red alert for the whole hospital. But nope...WTF??
@DaisyLee1963
@DaisyLee1963 3 жыл бұрын
It does seem shocking, but I can believe it. That doc insisting she stay away from his patients tells me her outlier behavior was probably widely discussed via the hospital grapevine, but actually doing anything about it big-time would be another story. The medical staff might consider it a risk to go public or even start a formal investigation. The situation's better nowadays in health care, but we're still slow to investigate/accuse co-workers of honest mistakes, let alone of nefarious actions. I'm not excusing it, but this unwillingness to face reality and accuse has to do with the high stakes involved in direct patient care.

this happens often with nurses who are killers. their coworkers become suspicious but are reluctant to do anything about it. I remember watching a programme years ago, I think it was called Crime Stories and it discussed this specific case. From what I can remember - even though Massachusetts doesn’t have the death penalty, the veterans hospital was on federal property, so she would’ve been eligible for the death penalty. However, I think her lawyers or the jury argued that her children were very young and should’ve been given the opportunity when they are older, to ask her why she did what she did and it was granted.

In the hospital setting this statistical information is run through algorithms for all sorts of reasons. Sometimes there is a line drawn to better pt outcomes with certain staff. Like, when a particular nurse is on the floor Pts end up going better.. then reverse engineer what that staff person is doing right to try and replicate it. It’s not all bad to be scrutinized as healthcare workers. 99.9% of us want to help. This woman is absolutely insane.

I started dating this woman, within the first month of our relationship I learned that she had been married and divorced 3 times before aged 28, she had slept with 55 men, most of her relationships had been not longer than 6 months and prior to my b-day within that first 4 weeks she shared with me that she had a STD. I was so blinded by the LOVE bomb and co-dependancy that I ignored all these red flags. Months later she had already cheated on me, was always flirting with guys on social and i learned that she suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder and other mental health issues. Obviously within our time together, she was suicidal, the highest level of toxic abuse I have ever experience and overall hell.

I married someone with BPD in the 90’s. He got violent with material items (throwing things, slashing tires on my car, etc - all because he “loved” me so much) He never hit me though. I left after two years knowing that because, in his mind, nothing was ever his fault, the situation was just going to get progressively worse until he would eventually kill me. He was very manipulative also, tricked my whole family into believing what a “great guy” he was and that I was the mean/cold/cruel one for leaving him. 20 years later, we all found out he ‘s in prison for murdering a woman that he “loved” because the relationship broke up after a couple of months. Also found out another lover of his died by “suicide”. Mental illness and violence don’t mix well.

@@sselassie3126 the psych evals and tests are, in truth, looking more for the personality disorders than, say, depression or OCD. They also look into any felony convictions. It's done not just for patient safety, but to protect the school from lawsuits if a student or former student does harm to a patient. You are correct that psych evals and the MMPI can be manipulated. Believe me, I had to deal with several RN's and MD's whose personality disorders took years to be recognized. Patients were harmed because a clinician was just having a bad day and they had to blame or take their anger out on someone; often, the most vulnerable patients paid the price. I was stunned to discover that not even an MMPI was mandatory prior to acceptance at several nursing or medical schools in the US. I am still smh at this, and similar, cases. I don't have any answers to the problem; I wish that I (or anyone) had some.

I was wondering if you would also add to the title Borderline, Psychopathy and Violence? Considering that was your main point that the pyschopathy and narcissism take out the fail safes that people with only BPD would have. So many people have BPD and are not violent tolds others. I have BPD. I did appreciate how you explained the 9 criteria. I clicked on this video because of BPD in the title and thumbnail, but it was more than just BPD (thank God!). BPD is so misrepresented in media so please add more to the title so it's MORE accurate and still clickbait-y. 🙏 When I was first diagnosed, my pyschologist told me not to Google BPD and famous BPD celebrities or cases, etc. as she didn't want me to freak out. She knew my own mental health was not fulfilling the criteria in the same way (i.e. "no wire hangers!" I know now.) Thank you for another great and interesting video!

I’ve been an RN for 30 years. This is disgusting! I realize why it took so long to figure her killing out. Nurses much like police officers tend to protect each other. Until it becomes outrageous. Also when nurses report on each other the reporting nurse is treated badly because management doesn’t want to deal with the offender. Nursing has become a HORRIBLE profession. I’ve seen it negatively change over time. It’s completely finance based. Patient care falls way down the list. I’m so upset about where nursing has gone. I can’t wait to get out!!!!

i think it's important to note that people with borderline personality disorder are not *inherently* manipulative or malicious people. many of us can be and this person obviously was, which is why the stigma exists, but in general, borderlines have experienced trauma that completely distorts our thought patterns and makes us act in ways that aren't acceptable. the majority of us are aware of these behaviors and genuinely want to fix it. using myself as an example, i've been on medications and doing dbt/cbt and trauma therapy for years and it's completely changed my life and my way of thinking; i'm very self aware and actively work every day to avoid toxic behaviors and thoughts. there ARE good people out there who have bpd.
