Starting with DU and finishing with singles in a WOD is SOOO key. I avoided DU's in any WOD because I didn't feel like I'd get a good workout in since I'd be fighting the rope the whole time. Now I'm able to get 10-15 DU's pretty clean and then transition to singles if needed. I give myself one chance to get DU's going again once it's broken in a WOD and then do singles to keep it moving. It has helped so much not shying away from them.

I watch these double under tutorials whenever they pop up and this is the first one that reminds us to stay relaxed when jumping, suggests bar tap drills, and uses the whistling rope as a cue for speed. It’s really cool to hear some new ideas!

What I find very important in DUs is the ability to relax as it is mentioned at the end. It is certainly valuable to slow down the rythm to feel how you can relax yourself just after the wrist movement.

I have couple of bad habits that I have developed over the years and find hard to fix. 1. As I get tired I flick the wrist inwards causing the rope to fold and catching the back of my heel. 2. Cannot relax shoulders and forearms and both start hurting if i am doing more than 100 in a workout. Thus I have to break in small sets every time. Thanks!! Great vid as usual;)

This reminds me of that one subject in high school, looking at the homework and just wanting to cry😭 It's the only Crossfit move that I cannot do. Totally my fault, I should have been working on these as much as BMU or RMU but I hid it away and now it's staring me right in the face. TMI, sorry. Anyways, I'll give your cues ago. This is the third video I have seen on this, they were good but this was better. Some really great tips and some helpful drills and advice. The timing is throwing me off, and I should probably try them near the start not end of my work out when I can have a bigger jump. @@Kristi-Eramo-OConnell Hi Kristi. As I think you're a great teacher, I'd like to suggest a topic for a video that I'd love to hear you talk about sometime. I'm new to crossfit (3 months) and loving it. Thus far, I've only gone to the classes at my local box (Diablo Crossfit) about 3-4 times per week. That's fine, but I'm starting to get interested in programming beyond just the classes. In other words, to get as fit as one can be in order to excel at WODS, what's the best way to go about creating an overall training strategy? The answer is definitely not just "do lots of WODs", but rather do those but also a lot of additional targeted strength/flexibility/mobility work in a strategic and organized manner. Related is the observation that I doubt all the top crossfit athletes, yourself included, are as strong/jacked as they are just through doing random WODS. How can one best approach training outside of WODs, using their boxs' "open gym" hours, and get started? Anyway, just a small content suggestion and thanks again for the superb videos. You have a gift for explaining things. Cheers!
