5:40 They explained they couldn’t address it sooner because nothing was confirmed legally at that time. The gap from when it happened to when it was addressed was largely in part due to them actually taking the time to do their due diligence and not accidentally slander someone which could come back on them. The gap allowed them to hire the legal professionals and conduct the internal review which takes time. They had to confirm Ned crossed a line with the company before they could address the rumours one way or another. The other part of it was giving those affected time to gather themselves and prepare for the public finding out because they no one could guess which way it would turn.

@liranpiade44992 жыл бұрын
It's obviously not everything, but I will say, I find a rapidly increasing normalisation of non-monogamy. And it is my belief that that normalisation will improve the relationships of everyone, monogamous people included. If ethical non-monogamy is normalised, then it means that honesty and transparency between partners is seen as even more important than before. If you're monogamous, frustrated and want to see other people, what you should be doing is talking to your partner about that. NOT do it in secret. We as ENM people actively advocate for the approach of "if you have an existing obligation with someone and need to make a decision that will affect it, you should discuss it with that other person". Plus, we think that communications are everything. So yeah, I think increasing diversity in terms of both LGBT people, and polyamorous or otherwise ethically non-monogamous people is how teens are having healthier relationships.

I feel for the try guys. Not to get into details but about a year and a half ago I found that a close aquitance, not a friend but someone I shared a lot od classes with and, while we disagreed morally and politically, we could function together in class settings, was a child predator. I was shocked and lost and when Zach spoke about losing a friend and things feeling weird...yeah, that was me a year ago. I don't even want to know what the people that were closer to this person felt like. Nobody I spoke with since ever tried to excuse this person, in fact I haven't heard a kind word about them from people I finished med school with since. But it was utterly shocking when this happened. To realize that someone you know was capable of something like this (granted being a child predator is, at least in my mind, a hundred times worse than cheating on someone), is an absolutely awful feeling I would not wish to my worst enemy. Because not only do you loose someone in your life, not only does it colour all the memories that involve this person (and I shared almost all classes with this person so that is a LOT od med school memories), but it makes you question yourself, your judgment of character and so on.

It kinda brought back my own feelings from what happened to my sister & the fall out everywhere. I was incredibly fucked up from that situation, a lot of guilt & this feeling of "how did I never see it before?! I wouldve bet my life this guy wasnt capable of that.". I think until you go thru something like that yourself people just dont understand the scope & severity of it on your life. They act like "well so&so was JUST a friend" & its like yeah but shit that doesnt make these revelations any less hurtful. Friendships can honestly be more powerful relationships than romantic or familial. I don't get why people act like finding out something awful about your friend is not a big issue, it really is. And yes, you're absolutely right that it really makes you question your judgment you've had on anyone and anything. You don't trust yourself anymore because you just sit in turmoil over "how did I never know??". It is such a fucking awful place to be in and it takes a LONG time for those feelings to go away. And maybe they never really do go away, I honestly dont know. I think a workplace relationship can work but only if you're equal and not employees. Like co-owners. Because if one gets fired it becomes uncomfortable for both of them. But it would be hard either way to separate your workplace persona with your home life persona. Things like "Are you mad at me as my partner or as my husband". Relationships are supposed to be smooth, a decrease in life's complexity, a person you can come home to, a person you can lean on. Not a competitor or a source of stress. I never understood the concept of cheating as a whole. The person cheating is to blame not just for the cheating, but for the lack of communication. All it takes to prevent the cheat is to say "hey, I'm not satisfied". And if you're still not getting satisfied, then you can make alternative arrangements. Whether that's separation, divorce, breaking up, an open relationship, or whatever. The act of cheating says you value your own feelings over the feelings of your partner. It also says you think of your partner as stupid and that you're smarter than everyone else in your life, thinking that you'll get away with it. Thinking your the smartest person in the room is the first sign that you're the dumbest person in the room. Everyone has eyes, everyone has a brain. You can't know how you appear to others so it's entirely possible your friends and coworkers are picking up signs you aren't even aware of. A smart person is aware of this and also is aware of the feelings of their partner. A smart person knows that their actions impact the lives of those around them and even their own life by proxy. He can try to blame it on "an irresistible urge" or whatever, but that would just sound like he has no self control and therefore can't control anything in his life. Boiled down, the point of it all is either he did it on purpose and can't be trusted to do the right thing, or he did it on accident and can't be trusted to do the right thing. I don't know if there's any truth to the adage "once a cheater always a cheater", but I can say there's truth to the adage "you can't make someone care". Being "the wife guy" seems compulsory, like he was trying to convince himself that he loves his wife. You can disrespect or even hate someone and still think about them frequently.

Just break up. Be honest. You want to explore. You feel like you're outgrowing your relationship. You don't want to be in a relationship. You want to try swinging. IDFK but it's not cool to just do that. Communicate. If you can throw that hotdog down that hallway, you should be able to have a mature discussion about what it is that you're going through. Be sensitive to the needs of your partner. You do not owe someone the rest of your life, but you do owe that person some respect. All the respect.

THANK YOU for stating plainly why Alex shouldn’t be fired! I keep seeing comments from people trying to rationalize it as ‘if Ned is fired then Alex should be too.’ Dude, this is not some kind of ‘you cheated’ punishment. Ned’s JOB was being the wholesome Wife Guy-he essentially vacated his position and his duties as a head of the company.
@peppymia2 жыл бұрын
About the topic of cheating... I read that every second or third relationship experiences cheating across all cultures, so it is quite common and it is not something new. It could even lead to the discussion if we are even meant to be monogamous. That's why I see more and more couples opting to opening up their relationships. I think the most important thing is communication. If the person knows they can't concentrate on only one person, then at least be honest about it. Or maybe it really has to do with low self-confidence and constantly seeking validation. I have seen and am seeing cheating everywhere too, many people I know were affected, so I was well aware that it would probably happen to me too one day. And it did. Also a woman who used to work part-time as a prostitute said that that experience just showed her the true faces of men and after that she had a more realistic idea of men and relationships, she wasn't so naive anymore (many of the men who would go to her were married, had families or were in relationships).
@chrissywalter2 жыл бұрын
I feel like being monogamous wouldn't be an issue if only people would realize and remember over the years that the love feel for your partner will go through ebbs and flows, as the years go by. With all the things the average adult/parent/etc alone has to try to balance on one plate, the concept makes sense. I'm a feminist through and through, in the sense I see my partner as an equal and in turn would like to be seen through their eyes as an equal. So, this definitely isnt something I'm happy to say, but in my experience at least, I've obviously seen both men and women being the cheater, and both men and women being the betrayed partner... But the majority of the times I've heard/seen men deciding to betray their partners it's because they feel as though their partner doesn't have time for them anymore either emotionally, sexually or physically, that they aren't attractive to their partner anymore, that they're old news to their partner, etc etc. Basically they completely have blinders on to everything their partner might be busy with, or dealing with emotionally. Etc, and from what I've seen it really doesn't take long for them to want to stray if they're feeling neglected at all, regardless of what their partner has going on, and especially if there is someone showing interest. And a lot of times, their partner is still 100% all about them and only them. And it's such a betrayal. Because you promised to be their for that person through all of life's ups and downs. And one of those things that experience ups and down is love. For example, you will always LOVE your SO, but sometimes you might go through a period of time where you aren't interested in having sex with them, that usually doesn't mean you aren't in love with them anymore, especially if you keep an open and honest line of communication open between the two of you. and then there will be other times , you feel like your falling in love all over again, like you can't get enough of that person, like you can't believe how crazy you are over them , how you feel how much you love them every second of the day so much it hurts, it will be hard to even fathom how you could have ever felt luke warm over them. I've been with my SO 10 Years and I've noticed this pattern of ebbs and flows, I ALWAYS love him unconditionally, it's just sometimes things are a little warm, other times they are burning hot. We must remember the patterns love goes through and make it a point to never let the love get cold, communication!! Open, honest, loud and clear! It's the only way, especially during a slower period. If you let it get cold , distance will come in between you and sometimes the damage, hurt, Pain can be irreversible. Or you just grow two separate ways and can't grow back together.

But no one has patience anymore, as soon as they feel an ebb in their relationship someone's jumping ship for immediate gratification from someome else. I could never betray someone like that
@peppymia2 жыл бұрын
@@chrissywalter I mostly agree. I could only add that according to studies love goes through three phases - lust, attraction and then attachment. With time in a relationship the lust and attraction biologically fade away, but they are replaced with attachment and a deeper feeling of connection, usually after around four years being together. All these phases are characterized by different hormones being released. Some people when they reach the last stage think they are falling out of love when in fact they are just entering a new stage of their relationship, a new, deeper (and most satisfying) kind of love. In that case they may either end the relationship and seek someone new in order to experience the butteflies and lust from the initial stages of a relationship again or they may start to cheat. Bottom line: lust and attraction fading away in long-term relationships is a completely normal and healthy development of a deepening connection and attachment, the relstionship entering a new stage. I wish more people were aware of this simple fact.

I am dating my boss, minus the cheating aspect. I do not feel a relationship imbalance because of this however. I initiated the relationship. I think if they had a work policy against fraternizing in the work place, that is the likelihood for his firing. It was probably legal.

I don't know how to feel about this. I mean sucks for the wife however the only thing in this that I really care about is how easy it is for public figures to let their drama leak to the public. I'm really not interested in celeb's personal lives, cheating is a problem between them and their spouse not a serious political/socioeconomic issue, and the workplace relationships thing is between the company and the employees so the only thing I am mad about is this oversharing of personal lives with the public and I have huge respect for youtubers and celebs who take measures to keep their private lives private. This whole topic is just something I think the public was unnecessarily burdened with. And don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to defend Ned and I'm not coming at people for covering this I just wish there were stronger boundaries between private lives and the public and in this case between private lives and professional lives. This is all a major boundary issue. This affair is not suppose to be my problem or society's

I can't imagine what it would be like if it explodes and someone (whoever of the two parties it is) can not keep the work-relationship professional afterwards. I am inclined to say I would not be opposed to workplace relationships, but I can see why it could be a problem if the above situation plays out. On the other hand I'm close to saying it should not be a big problem or at least not necessarily forbidden or prohibited, but that's just my curious mind wanting to experience a relationship talking there...

Cheating up to them, but he was messing around with employee. Think about the others employees in the company, they too could sue the company. It opens the company up to current and ex employees who could say see I didn't mess around so I didn't move up like this person. Or how about the food baby. Did she also hook up with Ned to get the job on air? Ned and Alex could cheat but it's messing up a company that is your income and other's, not just the owners but all the employees.

I would say as long as the relationship is not with a boss/employee, I am ok with workplace relationships, and as long as it is consensual and HR is ok with it, then it’s fine. I don’t think it’s healthy for a boss and an employee to be in a relationship like that since there is that power imbalance and if things go wrong in your relationship, that could spill over into your working relationship, and I just don’t think that that is healthy.
