Fantastic comparison, thank you… I had been feeling like ‘a bad workman blaming his tools’ when I was struggling to get the results I wanted on some watercolour paper. It’s surprising that you found it harder to get straighter lines on the smooth paper - I would have thought the texture would interfere with getting straight lines! I shall use up my not-so-good watercolour paper for stamping when I am card making, and check the new watercolour paper I buy is Artist grade cotton 😁👍 Thank you for this informative video x

No, but it’s just known that certain brands are student grade and others are professional. Canson is student, arches is professional

haha yes it's definitely not a cure all, but I find better paper is the quickest solution. Practice is really the only most effective way to improve

Trying one brand of non-cotton vs. one of the highest regarded 100% cotton papers isn't a great test. There is a great variety to suit many styles and budgets. Also, some papers work better when prewet fully, as if to create a wash. I would rather you did a more thorough test, with more papers. This seems more like you trying to justify you spending a lot of money on your paper.
