Wish folks around Central Texas baled the large square bales instead of the 5'x5' or 5'x6' round bales as they are easier to stack in the barn. Keep up the good work Bubba. You're the Man.

Hi That Krone's a great baler for you and I'm pleased you like it. The biggest problem I see now with baling video's is from a viewer point is it eats hay and craps bales out in any field/ crop density you like perfectly. with the NH, we always had something go wrong every other day or so. it added a bit of real life not over the top drama like discovery channel would film.. I used to make a point of coming in for morning coffee and looking for the onelonleyfarmer hay baling drama video of the day this isn't quite the same L.O.L

I miss that to and his makeshift repairs )))you can see he earns money in the hay businesshe gets better equipment ))))
@super69548 жыл бұрын
Hi it might not always be about making more money when buy new machines, it's about how much you can save by being in the field running when you should be. Not being sat in the yard fixing and buying thousands in parts or mechanic time if you can't do your own repairs. I ran junk tractors here we dumped one and updated to a better machine. the time and money I save on not fixing junk myself/buying parts paid a big part of the finance on the newer tractor, plus it's more productive with the better features it has. we joke that we miss the drama with the NH but I know from my experience,with the tractor , Wes is a lot less stressed/worried and enjoying that new baler.

They've come a long way in equipment. We started with an old International 45 baler. Bale one, miss-tie. Bale three, miss-tie two. Bale two, miss-tie. Being new to using a baler, Dad didn't know to check the alignment of the needles. With windrows half that size, we'd still be working around the first one in the time it took you to film all of that. Next was a side tie Case that produce rather lop-sided bales. Then the International 46. Hit a bump, get a quarter bale. Each one we owned had it's quirks. I liked everything about hay season. Until the time came to haul it to the barn. The itch from the dust would nearly drive me insane. But it was a good way to build muscle ... sort of. Showing up the fat flabby town life high school senior at chin-ups in gym class when you were a peon "bottom of the totem pole" freshman turned out to be not such a good idea...

I know stupid question :After you mow and bail it all up, Does it automatically just grow back, or is that it.Do farmers rank different crops and say harder to plant and harvest then others would be.If so where does growing hay fit in to that list ?As you can tell, I know about as much as I've learned off your videos.Hey but I do own a tractor !Thanks for taking the time to video some of your work, we that know nothing about farming get a little insight on what it takes to be a farmer, the good and the bad. I used to bring the Fertilizer both liquid and dry from the producers to the people you would buy it from. Haz Mat driver for 10 years, always wondered what farmers would do with it, now I know !Mainly trucked from, Mosaic and CF.
@TheZwerfer148 жыл бұрын
The hay will grow again :) Growing hay is one of the easier crops. In my opinion the easiest but I am from a vegetable farm and I think all the cow farmer with grass land are dumb fucks lol. I would say wes is one of the smarter grass/hay farmers but no way near the level that the Dutch vegetable farmers do their stuff. Here in The Netherlands quite alot of the hay / grass farmers (food for the cows) put liquid nitrogen in the field with a special machine, or just slurry / manure but the rules are quite strict here.
@charlesmiller50788 жыл бұрын
In Florida where I live I guess they grow a lot of things, what I see mostly is Tomatoes, huge areas along the sides of the roads, Its truly amazing that everything we eat someone planted and harvested so we can open up a can and have something for dinner. Thanks to all the farmers for the hard work they do. Thanks for the answer, 2 questions down 100s to go :)

There probably isn't a lot of demand for a massive machine like Wes needs for the scope and size of his operation. The other machines just weren't designed to be worked that hard, day in, and day out. It's nice that the Krone is holding up because time in the shop doesn't contribute to the bottom line, when the machine is down and a man is out of the field. The repair video's were nice but that's sort of like enjoying someone else's pain. Maybe now, Wes can spend some time getting the dozer up and running?

Glad its working great for you. Question though with the bales being ~500lbs heavier than what the NH was producing is it having any effect on the stack wagon? I'm sure it can take quite a bit of hay on it but I'm sure the running gear might be getting tired as I don't remember seeing or hearing about you working on or replacing that.

@norman71798 жыл бұрын
Square bales pack tighter on the truck and they're easier to secure for transport. Round bales waste a lot of space.

He has to haul his hay like 10 hours away, so he needs to get as much on a truck as possible. And he uses a 7410 with a front end loader and bale spikes to load.

Have you ever thought of getting a rake that mounts on the front of your tractor that you bale with it would save time I would think and fuel.
@itsnickooooooo88928 жыл бұрын
He would have to run a smaller take , which would make smaller windrows , and would make more windrows to be baled . His new krone can handle much bigger windrows and to use a rake on the front would mean he would spend longer bailing. Running a bailer would consume much more fuel than a rake
@perryc89438 жыл бұрын
The front mount rake still rakes two rows together that's all The Rake they are using now is doing. and they're not running another tractor.

what is the difference between a tedder and a rake
@krisdeere40978 жыл бұрын
A tedder spreds the gras and a windrower puts the gras in a strip
@silage6920s8 жыл бұрын
A tedder throws out the grass just spreads it over the ground for drying purposes up to 2/3 times dependant on weather. A rake pulls it all into one big swath to reduce time spent in field with baler make job faster and less times turning in a field. Their rake is ground driven so when it's on the ground and the tractor moves the wheels turn but in Ireland we use rotor rakes driven via pto.
@crazyhass848 жыл бұрын

it's work to you but it looks like a blast; grandkids spoil them wind them up & give back to parents; that blast probably wouldn't be after awhile. How much to you charge to pull the rake? Did Messicks (or wherever you got Krone part; bale weighing part) have it in stock? It seemed to bale but you just didn't know how much they weighed. So why don't they make a mower (ok we'll call it a John Deere) with a BIG engine that sips fuel tows a rake & had a P.T.O. to run the baler (ok call it a Krone); I'm not lazy just want to be phishing sooner. Lived in Phoenix 82->86; horse properties on Central Ave north of Northern & 3crops of cotton a year at 43rd & Indian School. They put a pro-football stadium on the west side.
@Blazer02LS8 жыл бұрын

@clearingbaffles8 жыл бұрын
+Blazer02LS from cutting to baling how long to be safe? I assume you can rake soon to help dry out? (yes I know what ass-u-me spells)
@Blazer02LS8 жыл бұрын
All depends on what you intend to do with the hay and what the weather is like. For mow hay you want it much drier than for haylage. On a hot dry day with a breeze hay that was cut early in the morning could be ready to bale by that night, during a cooler period it might be cut one day and not baled for 2 days. Normally you would run a tedder to spread the hay out to dry it faster. Having been out to my share of 16-48 hour barn fires caused by green hay, I get a bit worried this time of year, especially with the new "farmers" who move up from the cities. It's just like the house fires that result from first time wood stove owners...
