I don’t understand what all the complaints are about the price. My glocks have aftermarket triggers, texture jobs on the grip, undercut trigger guards, and aftermarket sights. Basically, making them the price of this gun if not more. This gun already has all that done to it from the factory and 4 mags. The only complaint I have is the size. Same complaint I had about the HK VP9. Bigger and heavier gun than my Glock 19 and only holds 15 rounds. Great review, I will be getting one.

I agree. I just picked one up today and this thing is really well made. I prefer the bigger size compared to a glock 19 because it fits my hand better. People are always gonna nitpick because they are cheap. This gun is definitely worth the money imo. You buy a gen5 glock19 $500-550 add a good trigger $100-200 , upgrade your sights $100-150, modify your frame with an undercut and stippling $200. At this point you are already past the price of this gun. Plus this gun comes with a total of 4 high quality metal magazine not cheap plastic ones. Shit the recoil spring is from DPM systems and would cost you $120 to put in a Glock. You do all that to a Glock and you're over $1k spent.

I pre-ordered one back in early 2017. Cancelled in late 2017 due to continually missed deadlines for delivery. Bought one on a whim in December 2018. Was it worth the wait? Yes. Is it worth the price tag? Probably not. It's a great gun though, just expensive. They aren't competitive at this price...maybe at $700. I own just about every major striker fired compact/fullsize handgun made. I mod all of mine after shooting them stock. The *stock* Type B will run with modded Glocks, P320s, VP9s, P10s, PPQs, APXs (though that one is stock for me), XDs, XDMs, M&Ps, Steyr M9s (I'm sure I'm leaving some out). It will out run most of those easily (and by run, I'm talking accuracy and splits between shots, 100% reliability on 115gr ammo, etc.) and runs pretty even with the better ones in that group. The trigger is not the touted 2mm reset...mine's more like 4.5-5mm, but the return spring is so strong that it gets you back to the reset point really, really quickly (unlike the APX where you have to wait for the trigger to come back forward, for instance). The trigger is probably one of the best factory ones out there for a striker fired gun and had it been as promised on the reset (1-2mm), it would probably be worth the $850 price tag since custom triggers cost what they do. The mag baseplates are somewhat problematic if you have large hands....as the rear of the BP can pinch your palm when inserting a new mag if you're not careful. It should also have come with the originally promised Trijicon night sights at that price point. When the Type A comes out....at least 17 round mags will be available. If you want trigger work or 18 round extensions, Rain6 in Utah is the place to get them....as well as other mods like machining for RMRs and slide cuts, porting, etc. Warranty is (again) touted to be excellent. If used in a self defense shooting Archon (partnered with Salient) claims they'll give you a new gun since your's will be likely confiscated as "evidence"...and the warranty is like Glocks....lifetime to any owner. Lots more to add...but YT reviews are pretty limited.

100% worth it. People dismissing it have no idea the quality. It's worth every penny. A Glock brought to these specs would be 1200. Easily

We'll have to agree to disagree. My Glocks have a better trigger, came with factory night sights and only end up around $715 all in. The Type B is a good gun. Is it worth $850 to me?....as I said, if they'd have hit the 1-2mm reset, I would have said probably.

I picked one up last Monday but only have about 200 rounds. I think it shoots and feels very much like the P10C with more agressive texturing. It's nice and reminds me of a Hudson H9 I used to have because it's a little unconventional. I think the Hudson H9 had less muzzle rise and shoots softer, however it is heavier with more weight upfront and down low. Probably moot since Hudson is probably done. The Archon has a nice trigger (like the P10C), feels nice in hand and it's very accurate. It's probably really a $550 - $650 range gun but I think Archon is trying to recoup costs... and probably why they throw in 4 mags, carrying case, and the silver marker. ;). Oh, and the life time, transferable warranty. If your range has one for rent, I think it's worth a try. If you like to try different guns and $850 isn't going to break your bank, it's worth a buy. If budget is an issue or if you want to stick with something tried & true and budget friendly, there are other options. Try the P10C or P10F (which is a little larger and about the same weight, and more capacity).

Good points. I really don't see the problem arising very often with the magazine release being able to be changed to a left-handed shooter in that manner. It is very easy to place your spare magazines in a specific direction in which you will reload consistently and be able to do it blindfolded, so there are no real issues in my opinion. But I think it's a fantastic pistol and a good video. On a personal note I think you have very good way of presenting your opinions and products. The information you share and opinions you present are substantiated in common sense in fact, also with a pleasant disposition, well done n

Not the most expensive polymer frame gun so thats not anything that bothered me when i purchased one. Trigger is about an 8 out of 10 for me which is more than i can say for glock or cz and i own both, but it isnt drastic. Hands down worth the money in my opinion, because i would switch out stock glock sights to a fiber optic set, and a trigger along with a steel guide rod which would amount to about $300 bucks anyways. But price is simply case by case. Some people look for cost effectiveness and some people save hard earned cash to splurge on guns due to it being a lifestyle and hobby. So price factor isnt my thing its just reliability. This gun hasnt malfunctioned on me once and shoots smooth, fast and accurate reliably so it takes a thumbs up from me.

I am digging the depth of slide serrations. Very grippy. The price might make some opt for what they consider a more cost-effective choice, but bear in mind, this thing is comparable to an upgraded strike one. Recoil spring - 90 euros, the sights will require slide machining with a licenced gunsmith and another 100 euros at the very least, the trigger package is worth 250 euros. I did the math and darted to the gunstore.
@SpaceCadebt3 жыл бұрын
The beavertail bumping into your knuckle is on purpose. The logic behind it is that when it hits the nerve in your hand it forces your hand to grip tighter thus better controlling the recoil. Whether or not it actually works is a bit controversial but nevertheless, the beavertail being like that was on purpose.

My thing is why the fin in the beavertail undercut? Seems to me if that fin weren't there you would get a deeper more forward grip on the pistol similar to that of the Steyr A series pistols. As deep as it is cut it would probably be even better than the Steyr and might eliminate some of the beavertail bite you feel in the knuckle of your thumb by moving the beavertail back over the web of the thumb area more. I like the design of the Archon and would love the opportunity to run a couple hundred rounds down range with one but unfortunately there are no rental ranges in my area that provide potential buyers any such experience and it is far too pricy to purchase and then find that it isn't the pistol for you. It is definitely a unique design that seems to bring a very forward thought to function and control. I have a theory about the forward dip in the slide and it is sticking with functionality in its formfactor; in that it aims in reducing reflected glare at the front sight that is often experienced with pistols that have a longer sight picture. I could be dead wrong but in my mind that would be why I would have incorporated such a design feature; if it were to reduce forward weight they could have simply run a window cut on the top like is seen on many of the modified Glock slides.
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын
I agree that the fin looks unusual, but when you hold it, it melts away and feels great. It’s a bummer there aren’t more rental ranges for you! Interesting point about the glare reduction in the slide. I hadn’t thought of that and you may be right. Thank you and cheers brother!

I have a feeling its structural and maybe ergonomics You'd have to take the frame apart to see what's inside. If nothing is there internally maybe yu could shave it down I suppose if it really bothered you. Maybe they want your hand to be back slightly further than if it wasnt there. Ergonomics.

Pre-opening credits I’m guessing the answer is “no”. Odd size choice, somewhere between full size and G19? Interesting recoil/cycling/slide design and very nice that four mags are included but $850? If it was G19 sized and $650 (and one still got four mags with it) it would sell like hot cakes, I think. That would have been a great way to introduce the brand. As it stands I can’t see what role it plays. Duty, maybe, if it held 17 rounds. I guess, like the Hudson H9, it’s just for fun?

Actually, MSRP stands for manufacturers suggested retail price. Individual stores set their own prices based upon how much they pay their distributors for them. Distributors all pay different amounts to the manufacturers based upon volume (usually). For instance, a distributor that is a high volume buyer may pay $380 for a Glock 19 gen 5 MOS. They will charge let's say $480 to the local gun store. The local gun store might list it for $620 and sell it for $580 (if you can talk them down) even though the actual MSRP might be $699. These numbers are merely an example, but hopefully that helps.

Seems like you could probably carefully file that beavertail corner down so it doesn't have so much bite. It's a neat gun, and I always appreciate when companies do things a bit differently. However, I think they've sadly priced themselves out of the majority of the market. While it may be "worth the price" for the "feel" to some people, there's nothing really about that gun that implies that it should cost more than $500. The materials, design, etc, are all "normal enough" for a polymer pistol that $800 just doesn't make a lot of sense. It just feels more to me like they got in the red while developing this thing over a much longer period of time than they expected to, and they're now trying to recoup some of that money (in arguably the wrong way).
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын

I’ve wanted this gun since it was made by Arsenal because it was a Russian design, and if they get one thing right it’s firearms. The overall look is so unique, and something to help mitigate recoil, besides it’s low bore axis and stationary barrel, it almost has full length rails. Something interesting is that you can use Glock sights on the Type B, and an IWB holster is available: www.rain6.com/type-b-sgusa-iwb-mini if concealed carry was your intent......Hell I’d be tempted to! Awesome review as always KS! Hey have you seen Mossberg made a handgun finally? It’s a subcompact, but I just saw it a day or two ago and was a little surprised by it. Have a great weekend 👍🏽😁

I asked my magic 8-Ball if I should buy a Type B and it said “Outlook Good!” I’ll take that as a sign LOL The review I saw on the Mossberg MC1sc said after 5,000 ends they had zero malfunctions! Sounds interesting as competition for Glock 43 and the S&W Shield. Sorry I went off topic there......

Good review...interesting slide. Makes some since keeping the barrel level and moving straight forward and back. Should be reliable and another plus is it should by design have less cosmetic exterior barrel ware. Could there be something better than the John Browning tilted barrel action? Copycats of this slide coming? Time will tell.

@stevezatrine77475 жыл бұрын
Let's again reveal the price of this pistol. Currently $850. Yes EIIGGHHTT HUUNNDDRREEDD FIIFFTTYY US GREENBACKS! People seem to excuse this is by saying that if you buy a stock glock then modify the trigger, sights, stipple it, etc. then you'll have more into it than a stock archon which doesn't need any of those things. Problem is you could buy a cz p10c, smith and wesson 2.0, walther ppq , etc that is set up VERY well right out of the box for about half or 2/3 the price, and these guns (along with glock) have huge aftermarket support, a proven track record and you know they'll be around for a long time. Given the history of this pistol I can hardly say that about the archon. No stock polymer frame striker fired pistol should be at this price point as it shouldn't cost any more to make the archon than most other polymer pistols, or if it does that's a problem with the company. The fact that these guys took preorders for like a year and a half before releasing this was a HUGE and frustrating dissappointment to their customers as well. Archon broke promise after promise as to when this gun was to be released. Archon just really missed the mark on the price point as well and I believe it will be their demise.
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын
There are polymer guns that are more expensive, yet people seem to give them a pass like the Glock 34 gen 5 MOS ($899) and the FN 509 Tactical ($1049). You also have to remember that these are all MSRP and you won’t be paying that on the street. I paid $750 including tax for this which made it about $680 pre tax. At that price, it’s way more than worth it considering the quality. I agree that there are other great guns that cost less... I’m a fan of those too. The Archon is something different than those other guns. It’s not cookie cutter and the market needs more of these to break things up a little. As for proven track record, who cares? All guns had to have a beginning and remember, the Strike One has been successful and this has the same core design. I 100% agree about the pre order thing. That was ridiculous and should not have happened. I hope the buying public and other manuafacturers learn their lesson. I don’t old that against the gun though, only the company. Before casting this out, I recommend putting a few rounds through one. Thank you and cheers!
@stevezatrine77475 жыл бұрын
@@KSGunGuy01 At $680 plus tax i'll assume you bought your archon locally. If this place has any more in stock and are willing to sell online let people know? I'm checking all the big gun search websites and am only seeing it for $850 and just one or two places having them available in stock at the $850. I'll admit the price you paid puts this pistol in a different category and makes it a lot more competitive for what you get. I don't want to criticize the pistol itself too much as I feel a lot of that is personal preference and I agree it needs to be shot and handled to make a true assessment. I will however comment on the overall size. Glock fans or not, most people agree that the glock 19 is the goldilocks max. size for carry and don't want to go much or any larger. The archon b is significantly larger in every dimension (and heavier), more like the glock 17. Given they plan on making a "full size" type a, I think archon blew it on the size, at least from a marketing standpoint for a carry gun. What are your thoughts?
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын
I think the size is just fine but it all depends on your use. This is a range gun for me, so it’s just fine.
@stevezatrine77475 жыл бұрын
@@KSGunGuy01Let me start by saying I really appreciate your review and responses but come on man, you must be pretty sure the price you paid isn't realistic of what this pistol is going for right now. Display model? Lightly used range rental? Buddy discount? I keep seeing you comment the street price is lower but it just isn't at this time. I really want to like this gun and give it a chance but it's important to point out it's flaws as well as its good qualities. If anyone else is buying this cheaper let me know and prove me wrong. Heck I might just contact that store and buy it from them myself.
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын
I can’t speak for what the street price is that others are paying. It differs wildly from store to store and state to state. Some local stores just make better deals with their distributors some times. That was the case here. I’m sure you’ll find a good deal at some point. It sounds like you want one. As for flaws, all guns have them. I think they had a miss with the frame as I stated in the vid but otherwise, it’s truly a great gun.
@OfficialMarkieB5 жыл бұрын
It looks like a Gen 2 Spectre 80% lower with a Salient Arms slide. But this thing is too wide and take down is cumbersome. Guide-rod ass. looks like it wont last 2K rounds. Also the mag insert issue, this gun is simply not ready for the streets. Hope their working on a Mod 2 of this thing, cuz I see them selling a handful of these especially at $849.99
@KSGunGuy015 жыл бұрын
I think it’s a bit too early to judge how many rounds it will last. The build quality is excellent however. I recommend giving one a try if you can. You might change your mind. Thank you and cheers!
