7:30 that bug is because sometimes parts of the previous stage stay attached to your current stage. And when you burn you move further away from those parts, making the game think the center of mass is between the old and new stage. That might also be the reason for the spin, since the drag the other parts probably create are super far away from the rest of the rocket.
@heygek2769
@heygek2769 Жыл бұрын
I agree on the first part of your comment, but for the second part; I don't think it's drag, he's pretty much out of the atmosphere there, it's more likely that the vessel just loses all sense of direction and stability when that bug occurs

I actually like that you can't just see the surface of Eve. Like in real life, KSP 2 should require players to send probes with appropriate scanning equipment (like the SCANsat mod for KSP 1). You can map the surface, and then send your rover or whatever and land it based on that scan data.

Idk, I think it presents a unique problem, and shouldn't be reduced to a UI toggle. If you want to know where to land, send a mission with several lander probes to scout potential landing spots, then use them as reference points when landing your big rover/payload. You probably won't get exactly what you want, but it's cool and different from every other planet where you can see everything from orbit.

It’s so satisfying to see the big creators spanking this game back. I’ve loved my time playing and learning KSP. I still remember my first docking. Hours. And now I can do it without worrying, you and a certain Scottish person made it happen. I spent the last four years telling the wife as soon as KSP2 comes out I’m getting whatever I need to properly play it. 2,600 dollarydoos later I have a near-top of the line water cooled computer. And can see the loading screen in glorious HD. And then watch my rockets explode and do weird rocket stuff from bugs. I’ll keep playing KSP1 for my fix. It runs like a top on my new setup. But FOUR years. FOUR years and this is what they have ready for the players, if this isn’t a blatant “we’re running out of money, release it” situation, then it’s a “we don’t need good coders and testers” situation. And I don’t know which is worse. Thanks again for the content boss.

@@Teh_Random_Canadian Yeah. That time frame is the real kicker. How long is the game going to be like this? The main issue is that it was rushed by TakeTwo, the sourcecode has near complete multiplayer, and lots of code for colonies and base building, and even parts of interstellar travel. The devs probably planned on releasing way later once more things are complete, but the rushed deadline caused them to take shortcuts leading to the ton of bugs and the ton of performance issues.

On strutting in KSP1 for bendy rockets 'I imagine for KSP2 as well' putting a structural square frame or beam 'even a short one but longer will give better results' sticking straight out of the side near the middle of the rocket on at least the 3 sided placement and then strutting from it all the way to the top and bottom or as far as it will reach helped FAR more than just adding a ton of strutting along the rocket hull at each section/joint. Your essentially making a cross brace sticking off the side and that triangle between the hull, frame, and strut gives it position and leverage to hold the rocket in place and adds an incredible amount of rigidity. Plus you can reach a LONG way along the hull and potentially reach past multiple tanks and stuff because the strut is lifted away from the hull at the one end and won't collide with and try to attach to the next section. This basically makes the strut a single long support instead of a ton of little ones 'like your rocket' that like to flex. If you just strut along the hull itself then it still flexes because they are inline with the hull and they just wobble with the rocket. It looks goofy as all heck having that frame sticking straight out the side of your rocket with struts running to it from top and bottom but it makes for a rock solid rocket.

What I did in KSP 1 was, use the Cubic Octagonal Strut in the Structural tab and use symmetry to have one group of four of them at the bottom of each fuel tank, etc. I'd put struts in between each of them for a totally stable rocket. It doesn't look all that great but it saved all my attempts at making rockets from being a noodle. I hope you're able to see this comment as it may be a workaround if something similar could be done in KSP 2. I'll have to test for that once I finally get around to playing it. My first Eve landing in KSP1 was after I'd gotten a cloud mod working. I ended up sending a vehicle with six probes on it, and landed at six random points to see what was where. Then I sent the Kerbals to one of the two that ended up on land. It'd be neat to have a system for cloud-penetrating radar; something like ScanSAT's map, combined with a waypoint manager to designate a safe landing site. Then you don't need to disable the clouds, you treat them as a problem to be solved in-game.

On the "drag" topic: A friend of mine and me tested the drag with some very boxy rockets and "airplanes" because we felt like it was off. After some experimenting, we ended with a solid fuel rocket booster on wheels with and without two big "sails" (thanks to procedural wings). There was no significant accelleration or maneuver difference between the two up until 300m/s on a flat road. At 300m/s the rocket with sails just flipped and the one without took off at 350m/s and than crashed. So there is definetly something off with airflow/resistance/drag.

You can't even rove properly because of wheel traction issues, and apparently by your video there are terrain/glitches with roving as well. I mean a good workaround is to get sturdy plane wheel, a proper atmospheric rocket engine, and activate cheat "unlimited fuel" once you are on the rover. Until they fix it on their end, that's the only way... but it does not fix terrain glitches throwing your rover around like a ragdoll tho. Much fixing to be done before I'm ready to invest tons of times into KSP2. :p
