What about a circular craft with engines positioned radially - turn them on and off in turns, keeping thrust in the prograde direction? Or put the engine itself on a rotor, synchronized with the rotation! Probably two engines, one on top and one on bottom for center of mass issues. Definitely sounds easy so long as I don't have to do it.

Imo if you designed it in such a way where you can release the rocket when centrifuge arm is parallel to the runway you could have gotten a little bit more delta V. This is due to the rocket wanting to travel the opposite direction of the centripetal force which is directed towards the centre of rotation. So basically your original design wanted to go leftward instead of straight ahead. Therefore you started at 0 speed in relation to your planned trajectory
