Man, I loved Scoot Manley's Insterstellar series, it was really good. Another thing I loved doing in KSP 1 was installing realistic mods (real communication, consumption of supplies and oxygen, etc.) and to build a base on the moon, you had to first create a satellite network on Kerbin and then another on the moon, to carry out the signal relay to deliver parts of the station without a crew and only then send the crew. It was very good.
@HappyBeezerStudios Жыл бұрын
I've long built a Kerbin GPS. 4 orbits with 6 satellites each. One equatorial, the other three with a 60° inclination 120° apart. All of them I know 3 are theoretically enough, but with 6 I can put them closer together to prevent orbiters from falling into a transmission hole. That way I have the entire Kerbin SOI covered with just 24 satellites.

YAAAAAAS!!!!!! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US! (sorry, I haven't played anything "vanilla" in years and always get annoyed when creators get all high horse about "the purity of the game" or "mods will make it too hard for my viewers to understand", so I absolutely LOVE that you are going to play modded) one "absolutely critical" mod you need for your "bases everywhere" playstyle is Kerbal Attachment System (KAS), it allows you to "weld" structures together using modified docking ports the create a permanent attachment also Kerbal Inventory System (KIS) same dev, but kerbals on spacewalk can unattach, move, pocket, and attach parts to existing vehicles and yes, adding mods slowly is a good idea, Scott Manley's playthrough had like 40+ mods, so if you don't have the modding base it can be a bit overwhelming

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve done them already, but I want to make some recommendations: -Bluedog Design Bureau (historic and proposed NASA parts) -Knes (ESA parts) -Tundra Exploration (SpaceX) -Photon Corp (Shuttle era boosters) -Nertea’s mods (I noticed you used one of his centrifuge modules) -Benjee10’s mods (I think the rover is from his planet base mod) -Estreetrockets’ mods -Beale’s mods (including CRE, which covers British rocketry!) -FreeIVA (allows you to move inside interior spaces) -Angelo Kerman’s mods If you need any further explanation I am more than happy to assist there’s a bunch of others but I think that covers a decent portion. God’s speed and happy assembly/disassembly.

I got a couple more: - Cold War Aerospace is also interesting, it adds, as the name suggest, cold war era stuff, so a lot of Apollo and Soyuz style parts and also a couple station modules. - Procedural Wings, because that is just extremely practical and you don't have to clip wing parts into each other to get something that vaguely resembles what you want to build. - Mk2 Expansion adds a bunch more Mk2 parts for all your spaceplane needs. Quite balanced towards stock.
@leawynfyre Жыл бұрын
Amazing video Matt! As much as I love parts mods (especially Nertea‘s, excited for you to try out near future technologies, or maybe far future as well), I really hope you play with the outer planets mod at some point in your modded ksp endeavors, it adds so many new and exciting destinations.
@entropic-decay Жыл бұрын
personally, for my KPBS bases I usually start with a Minmus one - lower gravity than the Mun, relatively easy to get to, and it has those nice big flats that don't have any awkward hills or anything to deal with Also, I usually assemble it in situ - that is, on the surface - by having each module basically having just. wheels and landing jets and such on the sides that can be scrapped and recycled once they're attached to the rest of the base
@entropic-decay Жыл бұрын
Because of this (and the other mods I use that interface with it), I have an order to the modules I send and attach: Core (includes a comms array on top), followed by Solar Array (incl. capacitor banks), followed by Recycling, followed by a rover bay for autonomous vehicles, followed by a greenhouse, followed by habitation, followed by science modules, followed by a mining rig, and finally followed by a remote launchpad

I would love to see a full colonizing the system series with mods. Like creating space stations for refuelling, a mun station for creating and launching ships from so you only need to transport crew from Kerbin and launch the actual mission from the mun. Slowly pushing to the further reaches of the system using stations and colonies to provide resources and lower the fuel needed on a vessel allowing you to make smaller more efficient ships that refuel along the way. Would be awesome to see an attempt at making the kerbals fully take over and have a multi planet civilization. Would also be very cool to role play science stations/colonies for the unique places in the system that might not be suited to being actually settled. Basically a save where you do everything you have probably done before but in one continuous save using mods to facilitate the more advanced stuff. And maybe by the time you feel finished with it, ksp2 might be in a better spot haha.

Funny, I had the same train of thought: KSP2 will take some years to get interesting, and I did practically everything in KSP1. Recently I reinstalled MKS, Modular Kolonizations Systems by Umbra Space Industries / Roverdude. I've been building colonies on Minmus and Duna since then and are just bringing the next colony to Vall. Really nice and complicated mod. With Life Support and Habitation timers, it gives you a real incentive to explore systems more like in real life. No more Kerbals in command chairs orbiting the sun for several centuries. Now, you're sending probes ahead of your colony, you setup infrastructure and build a proper base. Got many more hours of fun out of Kerbal Space Program with it.

Yay! Matt is finally playing with my favourite mod! Don’t forget to turn off (or on? I forgor) the brakes if you build a big base, or the Kraken will eat it. This mod is perfect for a fueling station, but moreso for stories with Kerbals doing specific jobs all over the solar system. Plz RPG the hell out of this series!
@Stant123 Жыл бұрын
I've used this mod my entire KSP career (I play heavily modded) since it adds another gameplay goal besides just get to another place and put a long term probe or station in orbit. Long term survival on another planet is a human goal, it only makes sense that long term survival on another planet or moon would also be a Kerbal goal. If you're looking to do modded from now on, I'd recommend SpaceY (play on SpaceX) for more and much larger rocket parts. Makes launching large heavy parts fun again since some of the rockets are obscenely large and entertaining.

fun fact, there's a mod set designed to work with Planetary Base Systems called Extraplanetary Launchpads. With This mod installed it adds a few parts to PBS which allows bases to now mine resources from a planet or moon and convert it into rocket parts in order to construct fully working rockets. It adds that thing KSP 2 also promised but won't get for a while. It is a fairly complicated mod so I definitely recommend getting to know the layout and how everything works together. PS: when creating your save file you can group the surface base parts together into a single tab in the VAB so they aren't scattered all over the place. (also works with EPL) ~Happy Launching o7

if it's a 'real life simulator" test that involves mods, i bet they will make you use one or some of the food/water/oxygen consumption packs. TACLifeSupport is my favorite, despite it not being entirely "finished". Your kerbals consume food water and oxygen and produce waste carbon dioxide and dirty water. then you have to power converters ( like greenhouses and sabtier reactors) that regenerate consumables. It makes long term colony planning a whole new level of challenging when your kerbals are in constant danger of starving.

Dude ! Been following your channel for idk how many years now, followed how the sequel was turning out, and I am totally on your side. Fuck ksp 2, ksp has lots of mods that could 100% give so much new life to your content. I 100% agree with you on this one. Genius !

3 Planet packs that I've found work really well together is: -Outer Planets Mod v2.2.10 (Sarnus/Saturn, Urlum/Uranus, Neidon/Neptune, Plock/Pluto with lots of unique moons. -Minor Planets Expansion V1.0.8 (Edas/433 Eros, Vant/4 Vesta, Soden/Sedna, Geito/Halley's Comet and much more. Mostly simple but Halley's Comet and Sedna are an extreme challenge. -Janet's Minor Planets V1.3.4 (Doppler/101955 Bennu, Quazen/2 Pallas and a handful of extras. Comes with a few near-kerbin orbits for an easier challenge. You'll probably need a mod that allows higher timewarp for anything past Jool. I use Warp everywhere V0.1. And it just adds 1,000,000x and 10,000,000x time warp as an addition. I don't really use these below Jool as you don't want to miss your sphere of influence.

OPM, MPE and JMP all work together because MPE was designed to work with OPM and the JMP asteroids were from a cut remaster of MPE. Also Better Time Warp is useful for anything past Jool
