In my opinion KT Tunstall has paid a little for the radical change of pop in the last 15 years, but also for her physical appearance. Today this type of "played" pop no longer does anyone, if you do pop music you'll be more like Taylor Swift or Billie Eilish who put tons of electronics into their music. As for her physical appearance, let's face it, she was certainly not a beautiful woman, and even if it is bad to say it, to be successful, having a good look helps all right.

The year KT released this song was the year I stopped communicating with the guy I liked who went abroad. The lyrics sum it up. Basically he gave up, I gave up.
@ericastier16463 жыл бұрын
I had the exact reverse story. I communicated with a girl abroad for 10 years, until i travelled and met her for the first time. "We give up easily" i didn't, but her parents had other plans for her. I never saw her again and no it was not a fling, i could write a book with the depth of that story,(reality always beats fictitious plots), she still defines partially who i am today, and no, you probably guess wrong if you think the meeting was a romance.
@Jeng_C3 жыл бұрын
@@ericastier1646 I would love to read that book. I believe there are many stories about this we could all tell.
@ericastier16463 жыл бұрын
@@Jeng_C Maybe your story fits in the "many stories" but mine doesn't, sorry. I reckon it's a once in a century unfolding of a unique series of events. But my first reply to you had to do with my story starting from the opposite end from yours, which means long distance does not define the direction a relationship will take, because in my case it went the opposite way with the same end result at the end.
@Jeng_C3 жыл бұрын
@@ericastier1646 don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to generalize your story or mine. I was trying to say that there are many versions of stories about long distance relationships that we could all tell and each of them is interesting.

The thing that hurts most, is when you put your faith and trust in someone new and you feel that you've found a friend, someone to trust. Then for some unknown reason, almost as if it's because of a whisper in their ear. They treat you like an enemy, over night and they continue to pursue a game of friendship and betrayal. It can really screw you up and you question yourself about the people you believe are closest to you. Never mind the every day. Try doing that for 15 years, with few to trust and waiting to exploit a single word. I wouldn't even trust your own family for money.

@Leandro Celani - LOL. What can I say???... You know how sometimes you know something ahead of another or believe in that thing super strongly ... ah. Maybe to the point of being called to defend the belief?... I'm serious, guys. I think it's time for us all to be more mindful. Of our surroundings. Of ourselves. Of how we affect those around us.

This song has deep personal meaning to me.. In 2007 my ex-wife was hundreds of miles away tending to her sister who was gravely ill without so much as giving a 2nd thought to our son and I.. I had to get up super early to take him to day care before school since I worked early morning hours, prepare our meals, keep the house clean, everything for about 2 weeks.. My son was depressed because he missed her and I did the best I could to take care of him as withdrawn as he was.. I have never felt so alone.. We had been married for about 3 years and something told me it was just not ever going to get better or work.. I had never felt so alone until after the eventual divorce in 2014.. The first thing she did when arriving back home was not to tell us she missed us or even seemed glad to see us, but to complain about the house not being clean enough for her standards.. This was what confirmed my earlier suspicions that she was not the person she claimed to be, but a very deceitful and manipulative shrew.. When the divorce came in late 2013, she got custody and didn't abide by the terms of course, even as I was paying thru the nose for child support and never late as the money was withheld from my paycheck.. I was working long hours at a grueling job to have anything left after the child support payments were taken out just to keep from being at home alone.. I had thought when the divorce happened I would feel relief or even joy but all I felt was a wave of guilt and a sense of failure even though I was never abusive or cheated on her. Almost 8 years and a few GFs have gone by and I at least have my self respect and some sense of self worth and contentment which I never could maintain during the almost 10 year "marriage." I revisit the song from time to time just to realize how much better off I am without such a person in my life.. My son who is now 25 lives an hour or so away.. He has not spoken to his mother in a few years now as he harbors lingering resentment from her spending all the child support money on herself.. He found out how she was for himself when it was just the two of them and he had no buffer between them or another scapegoat for her to blame everything on.. I warned him that would happen before I moved back into our smaller house that had been on the market for years because it wasn't swanky enough for her and her snooty friends.. She was actually the one who filed after I opened a different bank account she had no access to because she had stopped having her check direct deposited into our joint account without telling me.. She was spending way more than we made and if I had no access to her account, she wasn't going to have access to mine. Equality and all.. To anyone patient enough or long suffering (bored?) enough to read all this, God bless you and may you and yours have a Happy Holiday season.. I often have insomnia and listening to music or writing something like this is the only thing I can do that makes me sleepy.. Safe travels if that applies and don't take your life for granted.. I lost my Mom to Covid almost a year ago on Jan. 17, 2021.. My Mom didn't like my ex-wife that much after she got to know her either.. In the immortal words of Justin Bieber: "My mama don't like you and she likes everyone and I don't like to admit that I was wrong I've been so caught up in my job I didn't see what's goin' on but now I know, I'm better sleeping on my own"...

Esta canción me recuerda a una ex pareja, a veces me imagino en una realidad como en el video, pero el fuego se apago y cada uno sigue su camino, como dice al final la letra. "And can you still love me? When you can't see me anymore" siempre la amaré en mis recuerdos porque parte de quien soy tb es fruto de mi tiempo con ella, y eso nunca se va a ir.
