Hi mate!! I had on dashboard rear switch failure. I replaced the switch an still the same problem. You had the same problem , i don't know if a need to go to the dealer to reset the failure. Thanks in advance

Hey man I just took my 2018 SAS in for the 9,300 mile service. The service in manager said that the electronics totally failed! I don't know if was their tech or the equipment used to do software updates but it took them three days for basically a fancy oil change and software updates. Pissed me off! My 2015 SAT had total electronics failure as I touring the USA last summer. Love riding my KTM but this stuff sucks!

So, bike was good, and you took it to do the service. They plugged it to the diagnostic machine and things went bad, when they started messing with software, is that it?..you make your own conclusions.. Mine is about the same mileage...not even a glitch...nor my friends, and were getting a big ktm community here. I'm sorry to hear that.

And always check your battery. I would say 95% of electronic issues come from having a bad battery that doesn't alow the ecu to do the inicial checking, causing errors.

Also, "General Failure" message comes up for simple reasons, like one of the horn connectors comes loose, or if you have heated seats but their not plugged, or if you don't have heated seats but they're activated on "preferences",and so on... These bikes are very reliable and though they can have malfunctions like any other machines, sometimes we need cool off and try to figure this out.

@@arezesonwheels4119 the bike was fine when I took it in for the service. According to the service manager when they hooked up their computer to my bike to do software updates that's when the problems started. Not sure exactly what happened but they told me they had to reprogram the computer on the bike. It would not surprise me at all if the problem was with the tech. It seems like motorcycle mechanics is a low paying career. I got the bike back yesterday and it runs fine. It's very rear to see another big KTM on the road where I live. Most of my friends ride Harley's. It's good to hear that you and your friends have not had any problems with your bikes

@@arezesonwheels4119 about the battery... Mine show's it's at 14.2 volts on the dashboard at what point does it need to be replaced? I'm guessing when it gets below 12?

There is another KZbin guy 2wheeledrider that has a KTM SAT. I emailed him told him the story before I knew all the details. He contacted his dealer and was told the exact same thing I was by my dealer. Which made me feel better about the situation. So there is a known problem with the device used for software updates. FYI! Ride safe!
