Nice content! I also did somewhat similar mods to the bike as you and cost a fortune that sometime I wonder if it’s worth it hahaha but personally I knew I can’t handle the weight of a 790/890 and don’t want to lose the road part if I get the 690. So 390 seems like the perfect choice since 2021 like you! Looking forward to watch your ride videos!

There are actually 25mm bar risers on it, it's the one thing I forgot to include in the video! 😅 From the factory they bars are pretty low, I would definitely recommend some risers, 1" at minimum - I'm 5'9" btw.

Can you comment on why the T-rex skid plate over the Black Dog Cycle Works skid plate? Thx

Basically, I had 4 main issues with the Black Dog plate on top of the fact that it is nearly double the cost. 1. It had a "resonance" that was hella loud, even with the supplied rubber washers. The plate comes with a bag of rubber washers and a note saying some bikes experience a loud resonance with it installed, which mine did, and to use the rubber washers between the plate and its mounts in that event. It really is unbelievably loud, I absolutely hated that. 2. The front mounts - the very first time this plate took a hit, both front mounts bent immediately, and the plate was pushed up onto the water pump outlet, which is no good. I'm lucky it didn't break that. The shape of the plate and its front mounts are really not all that well thought out. On the left side front mount, I had to grind away a small part of it, BC it interfered with the O2 sensor and could not be installed. 3. None of the bolts fit through any of the holes when you get it. The thick coating they use is very durable and strong, but it seems to pool around the edges of the bolt holes and so none of the hardware fits through, until you reduce or remove the coating, which kind of defeats the purpose. 4. Between the bottom of the engine and the inside of the plate is a roughly 3 to 4" thick rubber block, that I guess is the to stop the plate from shifting up in the event of a hard hit. This ends up meaning that the plate hangs down really low compared to other plates, which reduces your already minimal ground clearance. Also, that block came unglued after only 1 offroad ride. I switched to the T-Rex plate, and it has absolutely none of those issues. It took a harder hit than I ever gave the Black Dog plate this past weekend, and none of the mounts bent at all. It's perfectly fine. You'll see that in my next video releasing in mid-May, actually. Not to mention, the T-Rex plate is substantially more affordable. The only thing to be aware of, is that to use the T-Rex plate with the Factory KTM 390 crash bars, you have to grind a small piece of the crash bar flange away, nothing structural though. There could be other issues that come up, eventually. I have only had the T-Rex plate on for 3 rides, but so far, it's been really good.

@@FreeTimeAdventures I’m in the UK and I have just ordered my 2024 model with the ktm sump guard but now I’ve seen the T-Rex it looks a lot longer and far easier to slide my bike over walls and fences without getting caught up Could you please give me a link to this as I have tried to Google and EBay it with no luck
