KTM 890 Adventure: install OEM heated grips to keep your hands warm in the cold!

Installing factory integrated heated grips on your KTM 790 or 890 is fairly straight forward. Save money and do it yourself! The plug can be tricky to find, I go into that in the video.

Thanks for the video. I installed mine today. I wasn't so lucky to have the heated grip connector so accessible. It took me about two hours to wiggle my hand behind the battery compartment until I could push it out through the front to where I could hook up to it. My battery box didn't come out nearly as far as yours. Electrical connections underneath it had very little slack, so it wouldn't flip forward. You would think KTM would put a little more effort into making this more accessible given how many adventure riders like to run with heated grips. Also, I noticed that you didn't install the module that it came with underneath the fuse box. The fuse box actually comes off and slides onto the top of the plastic cage it comes with and the heated grip module goes in the bottom of that plastic cage. Makes it nice and clean.

My dealer can’t get mine grips until July but I think after watching you I can do it thanks so sure.I just removed my seat and loosen the battery box and unhooked the ecm plugins I had to run a cloths hanger down to where the plug-in was I finally got it pulled to the front KTM doesn’t want to leave it out to where you can see it now just wait until my dealer gets them.

Great video, but man what a pain to get to that plug. Finally used a piece of stiff copper wire and fashioned a hook on the end to snag it and pull it forward. The whole kit is nicely fitted once you’ve finished. Kind of wish there was just a botton on the grips like my BMW vs going through the menus, but glad to finally have some heat.

Just got a 23 model. It’s super accessible in the front. Man, I think I mightve pulled the tank off maybe for more access. Thanks for posting though. KZbin has kinda turned me into a mechanic.

Crazy how some guys have the connector just sitting up front for easy connection. Mine is totally buried like yours however I can't seem to make the connection with just my finger tips. Also you were able to get the battery box more out of the way. Now my arm is bloody from those wire harness guide pins. lol I thought this was gonna be so easy...

Hi, i have the 2023 R model and it does not have the heated grips installed. Do i need to get it activated by the dealer so that i can control it through the menu? Thanks

Where does the bracket go? They supply it and you didn’t install it. Other videos skipped it as well.
