@@replynotificationsdisabled They literally explained why 600s died... and the reasons for this bike. Did you watch the video? The R6 died because it sucked for the road. The main people and fanboys buying R6s are getting them second hand which yamaha doesn't profit from. The people that buy them new either race it or sell it. The R7 does two things well while the R6 only did one.

@@replynotificationsdisabled A lot of people want the R7. The R6 is one of the most boring bike on road. Riding at 11~13000 rpm at every second is not for everyone and a lot of people want a supersport body position with a bit of medium end torque. Same for the R9 but even better since the engine is such a joy and also because Yamaha did put really good brakes and suspension settings.

I'm only 4 mins into this video and can already tell KTM will absolutely nail this. The amount of anticipation and hype they are going to build around this series is going to be mental. Well done for taking your time and trying to get this right. We all still want it to launch tomorrow just to be clear though!

The messaging was the problem. Talking about a large displacement faired sport bike being too dangerous for the street while releasing a 1290 super naked for the street was duplicitous at best. It reminds me of other products only being considered dangerous if they had plastic stocks instead of wood stocks (while being the exact same product excluding the stock material in both cases).

What they mean was electronic safety systems that we are getting used to have in any category specially in super bike category, and I'm personally a very big fan of rc8 but basically all the safety system that it had was "ABS" and that's about it (I'm not even sure if it did have traction control or not ) And comparing it to the other competitors and even other more modern ktm bikes that have all the gadgets from wheely control to 6D traction control and ABS systems and etc, it actually was kind of lacking... But a great bike nonetheless and it's gonna be a great future classic in my opinion (and one of the reasons for that is the actual fact that it doesn't have that much electronic gadgets on it and is a more pure driving experience, although lacking an analog tachometer to complete that analog experience to it's best in that that regard !!)

@@antoniovenegas6237 The 2006 ZX-14 also had nothing and made just under 192 horsepower, and that is just one example of many. The primary point was that taking a Duke/Super Duke and adding sport bike plastics to it magically made it unsafe and unfit for the road which was laughable at best.

This and (if) Yamaha finaly presents a R9! Triumph wanted the newcomers money and build a Daytona 660 instead of a 765 as them should have so they are out. KTM and (probably) Yamaha are the only two left to bring something exiting! Obviously only if the price is right.

It won't because KTM will price it to the moon like the other 990 models, only idiots would like to pay +16K for a middle-weight sports bike because the literbikes are far more powerful with little weight penalty..

@@itstherealjammin There aren't many big-twin sportbikes in the market. Plenty of middle-weight twins and plenty of 4 cylinder race bikes with far too much power for the road, it's a nice inbetween. I have an SV1000S, pulls like a litre bike down low but has the top-end power and gearing of a 600cc supersport, perfect for the road in my opinion. I just wish it handled better like a true supersport and that is what KTM is doing here, super excited.

I left KTM years ago due to unavailability of parts and poor assembly on the new bikes (plastic and stuff found in the engine cylinders. I hope they’ve fix their quality control. Because this bike could really be something special.

I would agree that years ago KTM had questionable build quality. Nowadays it seems to be a lot better because I had a 2022 890. Rode it as a daily and put 18k miles on it until I decided to try something different and sold it. Had zero issues with the bike doing the maintenance myself. Plenty of aftermarket and oem support that I put on that thing. It's the one bike I really miss having.

Wow! they fitted some fairings on the 990 Duke and are gonna charge you a premium for it. Calling it "Groundbreaking" "Game Changer" or something like that. Come on KTM, this is the end of the combustion engine era. Give us something crazy! like a 165kg. 270hp, V4, Supermoto, or something..

Cool, aber warum nicht einen 1290 RC oder 1390 RC mit 200 PS? Wir möchten doch einen echten Nachfolger der RC8 R haben, der für den Straßenverkehr zugelassen ist. Bitte denk darüber nach KTM!

Only halfway through the video, but let us all appreciate that 1190 RC8R, what a beauty ! I had that engine in my 1190 Adventure R and it was bonkers ! I would still jump 1 meter high if I got my hands on a RC8R, but they are hard to find ( non track used ones ).

Nothing wrong with a track used bike, it's what they were designed for after all, just check that maintenance was kept up on. Track riders are usually waayyy better at keeping up with maintenance anyways.

Exactly dude ! My 2003 rsvmille standard having the same power… 150ps will be perfect, 140..135… ok with the 890 motor But 128ps with 990 ? Waiting for the price.. but the 990 duke at 15k€, so maybe rc990r at 18k For 20k I take the panigale v2

KTM says in the video that it will not be like the old supersports, that you can ride this one all day, how will I do that if you put the clip-ons/handlebar low down beside the frame like that ? I hope KTM are considering at least to rise the handle bars/clip-ons up a few centimeters, the seating position would be perfect if it was right in the middle of an upright naked bike and a track bike, like the BMW M1000R, sporty BUT comfortable. I would not want to ride even a Yamaha R7 all day, I wanted to get of the R7 after 2 hours, horrible for legs, wrists and back. The Aprilia RS 660 however, still very sporty but still very comfortable, thats a great seating position for a sporty fully faired bike for the street.

As a long time KTM customer, current SDGT owner, retired racer but still track day enthusiast and dare I say it Panigale owner (different bikes for different reasons right and who can live with just 1 bike in the garage?) As a fan of ktm sport bikes i'm lacking of speed on the rc390 but i know a 990 will be too much to handle. Bring a 490 or 590 pls ktm XD.

We want more reliable products, we don’t need new bikes every years, got my first 50km from the dealer and bike not working as it should. And I mean 17k plus optional techpack and QS not working, oil leaks… motorcycle does not working as it should work brand new! And you say “we listen our clients” Get the damn quality instead creating new things…

There's a big gap in the supersports market for the racing/road enthusiast... 160BHP with VVT and weighing under 155 KG dry (close to 1:1) near 160 would be the ultimate track tool. That's what we need!

I am writing this as the video is ongoing because I have a hunch it will be another parallel twin :P I have such a hard time getting used to seeing parallel twins on premium bikes. They(engines) are after all cheaper to make compared to a v-twin but still fetch so high prices today. If the pricing was more down to earth for a parallel twin then yeah...

Why? If this is the replacement for the RC8, the bike that was ''too dangerous" for the streets, even though you put a bigger motor into the superduke.... Why? Why? WHY!!! would the successor to the RC8 have a smaller motor? In fact a bloody Duke 990 motor???!!!!! This is gonna have what? 120hp?????? It's barely gonna be faster than a gsxr 600!!!! Sorry lads, but unless you cram a 1290 or better into that bike you're just ripping people off selling a 990 Duke with different plastic. And it's a slap in the face to the legacy of my bike, the RC8R

The low end grunt of the 1290 and 1390 V-Twins are amazingly addictive and has a lot more on top than the parallel twins

@@PhysiqueSteve Sad thing is even if they fix that you have to worry about the next issue...I have just spent the last 3 hours watching videos and reading owners experiences on reddit and forums, only using terms like "ktm 890 review" too as to not skew results and man, it is so sad, I want one so bad but I just can't accept the problems.

@@longdaysandhardworkatramra8260 but sometimes you just gotta just get it and say you’ll deal with the problems later. I bought a 890 Duke r knowing ktm’s reliability is nowhere near as good as the Japanese bikes. So far I’m having a blast and it looks so badass. Always getting compliments on it

@@PhysiqueSteve Yeah, your problems will be a call to a tow truck away or waving down a passing car, my problems would be getting stuck in the Simpson desert...on a $30,000 "adventure bike". @@forzavale5303 you know that 99% of the supersport bike buyers are using it on the street, right? So who fcking cares about the racing world, and that extra ~30ish hp is only because Ducati revs 2-3k more rpm, just like the honda cbr650r vs the honda cbr600rr, same engine power (both 64nm torque) but the +20hp for the 600rr is only because it revs a 2000 more. And at least the Panigale V2 now has a competitor, until now it was the only v2 ~liter bike on the market, maybe the MV Agusta F800 could be a competitor powerwise, or the GSXR750R but that is no longer in the EU market

With the engine size of 990cc and 126hp, it's hardly a sports bike, do yourself a favour and go with the BMW S1000RR. This is where Triumph missed the opportunity, if they ever release the Daytona 765 with 130 ish hp it'd be phenomenal, can't see why they sponsor Moto 2 but can't do a proper sports bike.

I suspect, like many out there, orange is my least favourite colour! Gawd, I hate it. Fair enough, that's the brand colour. But. It needs to be in at least one alt colour scheme, like the mainly white of the RC8. Also, we have not seen the new machine in this video properly, but from what we do see of it, I think the RC8 also looks noticeably better?

Wait. So the production of the RC8 was stopped due to concerns of not having control of much power the engine was allowed to output via an ECU? I thought that the throttle was for that purpose. To actuate how much power you wanted the engine to output. KTM, Have you seen the TL1000R? RC51? 04-05 ZX10R? No nannies. Just look at any of your other competitors' sport bikes from that era. Did they stop production of these bikes due to that concern? No. Heck! Look all the back to the H1 and H2 Kawasaki 3 cyl. 2-stroke motorcycles. The original widow-makers. Think back to Gentleman's agreement between the manufacturers. Consumers were graced with amazing motorcycles that were edging each other out on top speed. GPZ900R, ZX10 Tomcat, GSXR1100, CBR1000F Hurricane, ZX11, CBR1100XX Blackbird, ZX12R, GSXR1300 Hayabusa, ZX14/14R.

So a 990 parallel twin that'll make maybe 130+- whp and weigh 440+ Lbs. full of gas is gonna "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" in what class. AND compete against liter bikes, how? Then there's "the dealership is how far away?" I guess KTM is gonna "streeterize" the RC8R huh.

I love the design and thoughts they put into the development. I definitely love torque that's why the GSXR 1000 K5 is still my favourite bike. Hopefully the price tag will be acceptable (17-18k would be nice since they dont have to develop a new engine... But simce every thing gets exponentially more pricey right now it will probably pass the 20k mark.

The RC8C/Kramer GP-2RR is already a super high level and super light bike, so why not use that as a base for the new RC 990 R ? We don't want a 190+ kg super sport. A 160-170kg (fully fuelled) would be better. A lot better.

KTM Rc8 did nothing ..It wasn’t that advance either..It was far behind from competition..sales figure was low.But at that time BMW s1000rr destroyed the competition..KTM didnt want to spend money on a new bike development…Although many other company tried to compete with bmw but only aprillia manage to do it….thats why they pull the plug..

Design and performance; I only foresee one issue that would mitigate sales and that’s price. Supersport credit being reasonably priced and I don’t foresee this KTM Costing anything less than $16K. Seems like more of a panigale V2 competitor

Oh another organ donor bike. Putting road weapons into the hands of solvent idiots putting themselves and the public in danger. Category race bikes should be banned for street use . My former boss killed himself on a 180 HP Aprilia at over 250 he hit a truck on the autobahn. He still had 2 other race bikes in his garage and 2 young children at home. Obviously not a responsible grown adult aware of his life. We can just as well let people in Germany buy Maschine guns .
