Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a chronic condition that causes inflammation in the digestive tract. The two main types of IBD are Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.

The treatment for ulcerative colitis may involve a combination of medication, lifestyle changes, and, in some cases, surgery.
1. Medications:
- Aminosalicylates: These medications, such as mesalamine and sulfasalazine, are often used as the first-line treatment for mild to moderate ulcerative colitis. They work by reducing inflammation.
- Corticosteroids: In more severe cases, corticosteroids like prednisone may be prescribed to quickly reduce inflammation.
- Immune system suppressors: Drugs like azathioprine or methotrexate may be used to suppress the immune system and reduce inflammation.

2. Lifestyle changes:

- Stress management: Stress can worsen symptoms, so finding effective stress management techniques, such as exercise, meditation, or counseling, may help.

3. Surgery:
- In cases where medications and other treatments are not effective or complications arise, surgery may be necessary. Surgical options for ulcerative colitis include removing the colon (colectomy) and creating an ileal pouch-anal anastomosis or performing a proctocolectomy with ileostomy.
The exact cause of IBD is unknown, but it is believed to involve a combination of genetic, environmental, and immune system factors. There is no cure for IBD, but treatment aims to manage symptoms, control inflammation, and prevent complications.
Lifestyle changes, including a healthy diet, stress management, regular exercise, and not smoking, can also help manage symptoms and improve overall well-being for individuals with IBD.
Leaky gut, or increased intestinal permeability, is a condition where the lining of the intestines becomes damaged and allows undigested food particles, toxins, and other harmful substances to pass through into the bloodstream. This can lead to various health issues, as the immune system recognizes these substances as foreign and mounts an immune response, resulting in inflammation and a range of symptoms.
Leaky gut is not recognized as an official medical diagnosis, but some healthcare practitioners believe it can contribute to a number of health problems, including food sensitivities, autoimmune diseases, allergies, inflammatory bowel disease, and even mental health issues like depression and anxiety.
There are several factors that may contribute to the development of leaky gut, including chronic stress, poor diet (high in refined sugars, processed foods, and additives), certain medications (such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and antibiotics), imbalances in gut bacteria, and certain health conditions (such as Crohn's disease and celiac disease).

Sir, I have done colonoscopy and biopsy Immpression is " patchy areas of surface erosion with moderate chronic active colitis; negative for crypt distortion-sigmoid colon and rectum" Gastroenterology says i have colitis in rectum and decending colon. Now am taking mesocol 800mg by oral 3 times a day doctor prescribed this for 3 months and mesocal 500 mg taking by my back at before going to my bed Doctor prescribed oral tablet for 1 month. Medicines started before 15 days only. But now also am going 2 to 3 time toilet for every day specifically morning time. As per doctor advice am not taking non veg, junk foods and am taking only veg food and fruits. May I know it will be controlled and may I know diet for this IBD.
