Thank you for making this video. I own a new 2020 KUBOTA MX5400. Been thinking about the quick hitch but most of my farm equipment was given to me by my Uncle. Some I used over 50 years ago. Thanks 👍

Beefan, I would go ahead with the Quick Hitch as all your new implements will be able to use it. Thanks!

Very nice. It saves so much time. I have a quick-attach on my Cat. I even bought 2 blank quick-attach plates for building our own implements. So far other than the factory bucket we have log forks with top clamp, hole auger, a winch a cherry picker boom and bramble rake.

Buying the blank plates is a great idea. I'm not setup with much metal working tools here. That's something I need to work on. Thanks!

All but one of my 3ph implement fit my QH. Fortunately, the top link mis match is the easiest one to fix. A couple pieces of bar stock with a 3/4" hole (for Cat 1) and some welding. It's the mis-match of the lower lift arm links that were a huge PITA. Once done however, nothing beats a QH!

I've had a QH15 for many years. I initially had problems with the top section of implements bumping against those hair pins and knocking them off. The first time it happened was with a Land Pride rear blade of all things. I replaced the pins and hairpins with low profile bolts and that was the end of THAT problem. I've never had to move the top hook anyway so the pins weren't doing anything for me.

Appreciate the video, viewing some to get familiar with ours. Noted two things you and viewers may consider: 1 - owners manual recommends to use the top hole at tractor end of top link of 3 point unless not possible, then go to bottom hole. Not sure how much it matters in reality, any insight on that? 2 - Leaving the lower latch levers of the quick hitch down allows you to pick up and go as they will auto lock, then you only have to operate the levers to release the equipment.

Watched a Land Pride QH vid at kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTOdYh8m96EiJo and they have used the bottom hole as well. Prob not a big deal, just devouring my owner's manual and noticed it in the 3 point application chart.

1. I don't think my implements would work on the top link but I could take a closer look at that. 2. That sounds like a good idea, I will have to try that. Thanks!

After spending about 30 minutes fighting with my rototiller last week, I’m thinking I need a quick hitch. I’m concerned about the length of my PTO drive shafts though. Thoughts?
@HomesteadEngineering
@HomesteadEngineering 4 жыл бұрын
Adding the quick hitch will extent the required length of the drive shafts. I guess it depends on how much extra you have in them. Here is a thought, imagine you had three drive shafts and now they are each just a bit too short, could you use the longest two (cut to fit) on the shorter implements and only purchase one (the longest) new shaft?

I have a quick hitch on my JD. maybe you could just quick hitch the bottom pins then shove a pin in the upper link once connected.

HI David....I appreciate all the input into the quickhitch workings.I bought the 2650 with this setup last august but the top attachment to my finish mower is rigid.So no good for all the uneven lawn I have.Do you happen to have any info/part # on that flexing top connection on the finish mower that the quick hitch grabs.I really would appreciate any help finding the part.thank you and enjoy it.a great tractor!

tacoma farmer, I think a ridged top link would be a problem for following the contour of a rolling landscape. I think I would take it to your Kubota dealer and see if they could modify it with a LandPride finish mower floating top link or a LandPride brush hog floating top link. Thanks!

Great video! I am thinking about a QH15 as well. Maybe I missed something in the video but is there any particular reason you used bushing instead of just upgrading to Class 3 hitch pins? Perhaps there is a good reason why but it would seem to be less hardware to buy and get lost at least on the rotary cutter and implements that have the bolt on pins vs the slide in pins. Thanks for posting! It was very helpful. 👍

Good fix for the size of the pins David. Worked great. On those older attachments, is it possible to move the welded pin at the top into the higher hole, put a pin in the lower hole and then just extend the top link out further to bring the implement back to level, or is it too far a distance for the top link? GP
@HomesteadEngineering
@HomesteadEngineering 5 жыл бұрын
Hey GP, I must have missed this comment before... I think all of these could be modified to work. I might just load them all up one day and take them to the welding shop and have them modify them all! Right now, I have two tractors and I run these non-compliant attachments on the old tractor with the three point hitch. Thanks!

Any tips on how to setup the quick hitch? I have been unsuccessfully trying to hook up to my tiller, it keeps seating on one side and popping out the other. Did you stabilize the lift arms or give them some movement? Also do you hook up the driveshaft first of after you have lifted the implement? Thanks
@HomesteadEngineering
@HomesteadEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
Not sure what's going on with your lift arms but I can say that I do hookup my PTO shaft after the implement is securely attached and with the engine off. One idea for you would be to try what I show at 7:25. That might give you a "stopper" on the outsides to help real it in. Thanks!
@on4acres
@on4acres 2 жыл бұрын
@@HomesteadEngineering great thanks for your reply! I worked on it some more and it turned out the pto shaft was too long. Consequently it kept tipping it to either side. Took two inches off and it’s good to go, thanks.
@HomesteadEngineering
@HomesteadEngineering 2 жыл бұрын
@@on4acres OK, that makes sense now. Note: Two inches may not be enough. If you have it attached and raise it up all the way it could jam the shaft into the tractor and damage the tractors PTO and that's generally not a cheap fix. I would make sure that you cant bottom it out.

David separate question from the hitches I now have a bx1870 want to move up to either a B2601 or a LX2610 did you happen to look at the LX before you went with the B2601? I have three main applications spreading mulch about 10 dump trucks per year, grooming a large stone driveway (I want to get a land plain to accomplish this task do not have right now and snow removal with the bucket on the tractor with skid shoes for the stone driveway and lastly lifting a 700 LB generator into the back of my toyota tacoma. Thoughts would be very appreciated.
@HomesteadEngineering
@HomesteadEngineering Жыл бұрын
Chuck, Random thoughts: 1. I did not look at the LX, not sure it was around back then... 2. I did look hard at the L2501 (same price at the time). Stronger tractor but it would have been to big for what I do. I made the right decision for sure. 3. I think my B2601 would handle your list. If the stone driveway is more than 1/2 mile I might jump up to the bigger tractor but probably not 4. My B2601 would just barely get that generator in the truck and you might even have to park it so the bed is low to the ground at that. 5. Most folks would say always go bigger but I would disagree. See the comment below for more reasons to stay smaller. The following is a comment I posted on another channel about 5 years ago: Less is more... I have a Kubota B7100 4x4 HST that I have been using for 16 years. I think it is the perfect sized tractor for my needs. Here are some of the things I have used it for: 1. Landscaping: Getting into tight spaces up near houses where you would not want a larger tractor. Working in neighborhoods where the houses are very close together. Just large enough to dig or pull out old bushes and perfect for removing old mulch and dropping in fresh potting soil. 2. Small Garden Farming: I have a 1/2 acre garden that I work with a disk, middle buster and row hipper. The light weight does not compact the dirt. The 4' implements allow for more rows in a small garden. It's just strong enough to pull the implements and get the job done. I do not have a tiller (yet) but I think I could run a 4' tiller in my soft sandy soil without a problem. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npjclqt5itinfMU 3. Misc.: Hauling cut firewood, raking and leveling our dirt road, dragging large tree trunks, digging irrigation ditches, building paintball courses with hills and bunkers, building dirtbike racetracks, etc. Note 1: Another advantage of a small tractor is the fuel consumption. I can go for weeks on a tank of diesel. It will run all day on a gallon or two. Note 2: I can easily haul it with my 1/2 ton truck and a single 3500lb axle trailer Note 3: Oil and hydraulic fluid changes are less expensive Note 4: I bought it used and I could sell it now for near what I paid for it.

Protip? They call it a quick attach for a reason…… you keep getting off the tractor to pull the handles to release and push to lock. Lift the pto up unlock said handles handles up drop the implement… Lock handles down after…… next time to pick up a implement no need to unlock the handles the implement will lock in place with the handles in the lock position….. the metal lock at the bottom only lock to prevent the implement from coming up they will push in when the implement weigh starts going down until it passes and locks

I am not familiar with the QH10 but one thing you might try is slightly lifting the implement if you make a sharp turn. That way your not dragging it into the tire. Thanks!

They changed the qh15 into the qh16 and in doing so they changed the size where the hitch pins fit and the width. Landpride really screwed up. The qh16 barely fits my landpride implements and on one I had to grided the cat1 hitch pin sides down so this would fit. Some great meathead of an idiot had to change it. If it ain't broke down fix it.
