Thanks! This helped me pull my tank. I found debris in tank, also the 90 degree barb fitting coming out of bottom of tank was corroded and restricted. I cleaned it out and tractor runs great.

It's a good video Colt. I had to remove my rear fender to replace the HST fan. I know exactly what you are saying about this project. It's not a hard job, but a frustrating job because the manual gives so little information about what to remove and what not to remove. I put together a play list of what I did to replace the HST fan and it was done similar to yours. I more or less documented putting it back together. I also did the series to help others who may need some help down the road. Again, I like the video and the information you shared based on your experience.

Thanks for posting this. Hard not to cuss the engineers who designed this to be so incredibly complicated. My favorite part was the grab handle... ok here's two wildly different bolt sizes, and oh yeah here's a Phillips head screw just for kicks.

Thanks for the vid. My fuel sender just shot craps. On Orange Tractor talks, some forum folks said the sender is obsolete and no replacement. Hope that isn't the case. Haven't called the dealer yet. I'll probably make this a end of season job.

If you can at least find the ohm range, you can get a "universal" one & modify it to work close to what the Kubota one was. I had to do this on another project I was working on. Good luck!

The fuel sender is no longer offered separate. They make you get the whole tank. Mine rotted off like he described I just lived with my gauge not working for awhile and then watched for salvage bx tractors and got a sender off one that was involved in a hauling accident.

Has Kubota ever recalled these tractors to fix this? Seems like the right thing to do to me...

Any recalls for these tractors are long past. They did do a fair amount a recalls and other customer satisfaction things the first few years this model was out I found when searching for other information.

Hello, thank you for posting this video as it's going to be very useful. I have a question: Kubota placed the filter before the fuel pump, in you mod it's placed after it, just before the engine. I undestand this makes it a lot easier to work on, but will the pump suffer? Does it still run fine after some hours of works? Thank you.
@CallMeColtLLC3 жыл бұрын
I have had no issues so far. If you want, you can run the fuel line from the tank, all the way to the filter, then back up pretty easily. I just chose not to for simplicity.

What was your problem? I'm having some issues with the first inline filter on my bx25d getting fouled after like 2-3 hours of runtime. I'm thinking I've got the diesel bug.
@CallMeColtLLC4 жыл бұрын
I had erratic reduced power due to fuel loss. The OEM filters clog quickly. You will get more life if you rotate them 180 deg once it starts to plug up since only half of the filter is filled.

I have a local kubota service. I've paid way too much to have THEM do the removal, cleaning, replace corroded fuel gauage. And it's happening again within 3 weeks! Their advice was its bc of not storing tractor inside. So I'd like to know if your solution has stood up over time?
@CallMeColtLLC2 жыл бұрын
I have had no issues since doing this. Storage inside might help, but, temperature change will always cause moisture buildup. Where I am, it isn't as much of an issue. I don't think a sender should rot out that quickly. Sounds like a defective part.

Hello I have a bx2350 also do you ever have problems with the pto engaging I have to rinse the level off with water on the bottom behind the left tire it get dirt and grass in there I can’t find anyone video or nothing like that
@CallMeColtLLC2 жыл бұрын
I have never had any issues with the PTO. It sounds like you have something jammed in there like a stick or something that is keeping it from doing what it should.

Thanks, I appreciate your video, some people expect 5 star productions, you sir, are a gentleman with your replies! After multiple filter and fuel pump changes I expected to find material blocking the fuel outlet inside my tank but.... my tank was clean. I think I have an occasionally collapsing or pinched fuel line (it's 15 years old) so the back half of tractor has to come off which I was trying to avoid. The plate comes from "Boyd welding" in Florida for $38 plus shipping, SKU44033. I carefully redrilled the holes in the tank a little larger than suggested using metal plate as a template and it worked perfectly. This is not an advertisement I'm just hoping it'll help others

Thanks for the feedback. Good solution with a part number. I'm sure it will help others.

Your problem may have been the pinched fuel line, but for many people like me, that is not the case. My BX works fine for months and then gets intermittent and ultimately shuts off. Replacing the fuel filter usually solves the problem -- for a few months which for me might be 20-30 hours. So my problem has nothing to do with a pinched hose. Instead I believe I have the "algae" problem which really isn't algae but other microorganisms feasting off of the diesel fuel and water and producing a slime in the tank. I believe this slime is what is clogging up my filters. You and others may also have that problem. A little grit is sometimes no big deal; the fuel can flow around it. But slime clogging up all the pores in the filter IS a big problem. I've read that clogged filters are due to grit maybe 10% of the time and 90% due to slime. I'm in the process of pulling my tank now to clean it out. Afterwards I will dose my tank with Killem every time I fill the tank. This kills the microorganisms. Also I will keep the tank mostly full to minimize water condensation. Lastly I think there are safe fuel additives to remove water from diesel fuel. I hope prevention means I will never need to pull the tank again.
@CallMeColtLLC7 ай бұрын
That is why I improved the fuel filter system as well. Since this, I have never had a single issue. I dump nasty fuel in there too! Often, whatever I pull out of an old tank I drain or filters when I drain them on the vehicles (if there's no water). The tiny filters the BX had with the hydrosorb in them were a very bad idea on Kubota's part. They will stop up even with a little moisture as that's why they're designed to do.
@dennmillsch7 ай бұрын
@@CallMeColtLLC -- I have not heard of "hydrosorb". Is this present in the current Kubota fuel filters? Or did they discontinue that? Indeed it sounds like a bad idea. And yes, I am thinking of going to a different filter something like what you have. I still think I'll put mine before the fuel pump however.
@CallMeColtLLC7 ай бұрын
@@dennmillsch hydrosorb filters are used in diesel applications and absorb moisture. Once saturated, it will not let anymore fuel through to protect the system downstream.

@@CallMeColtLLC -- Got it. Do today's Kubota filters for the BX still use hydrosorb?

My Kubota is great - when it's working... but I have to agree, the Kubota design engineers seem to have no concept of DIY repair. Changing the fuel pump is an all day tear down and job. It's ridiculous - and they want $200 for the pump. I've seen John Deere's where it's a 30 minute job and less than $50. IMHO, Kubota seems to have intentionally designed them to dissuade DIY repair and maximize profit for their dealers.
@CallMeColtLLC Жыл бұрын
Not sure what fuel pump you're talking about on these tractors, but there's two. I low pressure one that takes 5 minutes to change and the injection pump that is much more complicated due to being a part of the engine.
@rhymereason3449 Жыл бұрын
@@CallMeColtLLC On my G2160 lawn tractor the low pressure fuel pump is buried in the central part of the machine. To get to it you have to remove the mower deck, remove the grass catcher, remove discharge chute from the rear, so you can get access from underneath to the deck height adjustment cog and rod and remove it (see @7:40) so you can then remove the seat, and then remove the cowling over the main body. Only then can you access the fuel pump. The tear down is very similar to this video... you can't get access to it and the fuel lines from simply under the machine.
@CallMeColtLLC Жыл бұрын
@@rhymereason3449 Ah, I see. That's not fun. The pumps should last forever unless they fill with solids. The OEM ones are built significantly better than the China copies. Not having a quick removal deck makes it harder but I don't think they had another option. Pump needs to be at the lowest point where the fuel first drops. It's a lot to fit in a small tractor. At least you only need to do it once and probably never again!
