I just bought a larger property and need to graduate from a BX to a larger tractor. Yesterday I just test drive Kioti, Massey and Kubota. Unfortunately, none of the sales persons were able to describe all the features/buttons on the machines. This is very frustrating and I don't understand why this is prevalent in the tractor industry, car industry, etc. Neil, you always know all the facts about the equipment and do a fantastic job of conveying critical data to help inform you viewers. Your walk thru of the HST Plus in this video, coupled with your related Grand L videos, have helped drive my decision to Kubota L6060. Thank you very much for all of your help!

Again thank you Neil for a very informative video. I love my Grand L4760 after a very small learning curve with the computerized dash I can quickly make my transmission adjustments for my current application wether it be picking up logs with the grapple claw, loading gravel, using the box scraper or blowing snow. The HST is great I don’t see a need or desire to ever go back to a tractor with a manual transmission. I always learn something new watching!

I love the trans features on these tractors, they really help a lot once you understand how to use them all. The four L4060's we have in our rental fleet are approaching 1000hrs run time with very little problems......zero issues with the engines or smog gear. BTW, these are not exactly new features. The anti stall, HDS, auto throttle and HST response knob are present on our old beat up L3540 and 3940's from almost ten years ago, just in case anyone is shopping for a used tractor(non smog) and like these features.

Great information! There are plenty of people hocking equipment, but being able to show your customer how to use all the features properly is probably just as important as selling them the right machine in the first place. You should always read the manual, but actual demonstrations make it much easier to remember. I'd like to see some videos on responsible usage of 4WD, and why it's important to use enough RPMs and not lug your engine.

What I could really use is a lower gear than the low gear on my 38 horsepower Kubota. What would also be useful is a permanent differential lock rather than having to keep your heel on the lever.

Here it is 2021, Is Kubota still the only one with these features? I would say it is the #2 reason I am getting one. #1 is the price, there is a much better ROI with a Kubota than say a John Deere. The only downside of Kubota is how poorly the paint holds up to the sun. I can see that tractor you are on has a lot of paint fade. My 20 YO B2410 has been barn kept so the paint is still orange and matches all over. If I didn't have a barn to store it in, I would be constantly trying to keep it polished and waxed to prevent paint fade.

Maybe it was a bad demo but it seemed like the tractor just sat there for like 5 seconds before doing the auto shift. That would drive me nuts.

It probably has to build up some hydraulic pressure before the auto shift engages

I'm looking at a L4760 with hst plus to replace my current gear tractor. This hst plus transmission seems very gadgety to me. I also run a skidsteer, set the rpm and work away and never have any problems stalling the engine. Watching this video makes me think I should look at a different machine

I have a 2007 New Holland TC35DA. It’s an HST with only 2 ranges instead of 3, but each range has a high and low. How is the high and low any different then what I have? Or is it just a matter of it being controlled by a computer?
@MessicksEquip4 жыл бұрын
Its very much like your New Holland. That's a feature that only this series Kubota, and that older servies New Holland have had.
@StefanBacon6 жыл бұрын
Why do you need 3 transmissions in series? The hst should be fine in any range as long as you throttle up and back off the swash for lower displacement and higher pressure.

Response control looks really dangerous. Should just have an adjustable damper on the pedal so that youcan force a stop by pushing the treadle to the center position. Personally, I'd rather have a shuttle selector on the loader stick and a foot throttle and inching pedal.

@TheAncram3 жыл бұрын
how did you do it?
@hphillips74255 жыл бұрын
With time I think I would enjoy these features. One of the things I never understood was why is the brakes on the right side on some of the tractors.
@paulkleinschmit98715 жыл бұрын
2 reasons. 1. Traditionally the brakes are always been on the right, so if you are used to using your right foot to stop, you'll still find the brakes in time. 2. The real reason some tractors, especially the older ones with a non-independant pto, either still have a real transmission clutch or come available with a gear transmission with a clutch so for simplicity in manufacturing, the brake pedals remain on the right side. If you notice, those tractors that are HST (BX, B, Grand L) only, have the left side brake pedals where those that have additional transmission options (L & MX) will have right side brakes.

Fascinating from a tech perspective, but not on a practical one. 1. Instead of working, the operator has his head buried in a menu trying to figure out what he wants. Low productivity. 2. Great if the tractor is stored in a hermetically sealed barn, but more likely it will spend time in a shed or even outdoors. All tractors become home to rodents. All these features require electronics, which require cabling. Mice (and rats and squirrels) love to chew cabling. As an electronics troubleshooter I would dread having to diagnose rodent-chewed cables, or have to pay the hourly rate to do the same. K.I.S.S.
@MessicksEquip5 жыл бұрын
To a point, your right. This system has been out for ten years now and proven to be super reliable. All the doodads ate usually a set and forgot thing.. except maybe auto throttle.
@robertbaldwin23835 жыл бұрын
They should be using rodent guard insulation on the wiring. The soy based insulation typically used is tastefully attractive to rodents.
@barrydarnell97485 жыл бұрын
Love it on my 6060. No auto throttle when doing pto work like bush hogging. I mow steep hills and the stall guard is priceless. Nothing like the engine shutting off when you need it. Stallguard diverts power to keep control within limits.

Why is all this crap on a tractor? None of it is needed. The engineers at kubota are OVERthinking things.
@paulnorman82745 жыл бұрын
Not needed, but really nice. Although HST+ is technically even more complications layered on top of an already "remote" (compared mechanical gears) hydrostatic, in use it feels like you are getting a tiny bit of the "mechanicalness" back, compared to standard hydros. It's currently confined to the Grand Ls and TLBs as far as I know. Would be really nice if Kubota would offer it on some deluxe version of Ls and Bs as well.

Also, as an older operator, these functions add to safety. I hated to give up my gear driven trusty Ford 1920 but as my reaction time diminishes, having these features gives me many more years of safe operation!
