Neal, I’m new to your channel but could you do some safety videos on how to mow hills and steep grades? My 36 yo son bought a L25 mostly loaded with a finish mower. But the Kubota Dealer in Atlanta Texas did a horrible job in sizing up his needs. Just to keep us from being killed I put special built 5” wheel extensions on the rear and 3” on the front. Then alcohol/water ballast in the rear tires and even that you need to go slow and get experienced mowing hilly terrain. These hills will kill your ass and with a dealer in the area, that knows the area, they did a horrid job with this first time buyer. I guess they figure if they can sell them one tractor in a lifetime that’s good enough.

Radial front now but 16.9-30 bias in back, less binding of the gears in 4 wheel drive, Way better with the 84” L-45 bucket fully loaded.

Many options in types of tread but nothing on sizing. Bx are awesome for mowing and low center of gravity due to smaller tires. Why don't they offer a B series with smaller tires? Can bx tires be used on a B series or will mower deck bottom out with little to no remaining deck height adjustment? Many many people are adding jeep wheel spacers for better stability. Different offset rims and smaller tires would be awesome to see someday as an option especially if gear ratios could be taken into account for 4x4 use.

What is the size of the wheel supplied with the bar-turf tire on the B series? It's listed as a 31 x 15.5 x 15 size tire with a recommended wheel width of 13". (I believe the standard B series rear wheel is 15x9). Also, are there any concerns with 4x4/ power train functions (as it relates to front-to-rear tire diameter ratios) when replacing front tires with a larger diameter? ... More specifically, Kubota pairs this 31" bar-turf rear tire with a 22" front tire - would replacing the front with a 23" alter/damage the power train or influence potential warranty claims? The same question could be applied to replacing the 31" rear with a 32-33" tire.

I have a BX23s with R4 Industrial tires. Has been very wet this spring. I seem to be tearing up the turf all the time when using the loader or excavator, especially the loader. I am a newbie, my first tractor. Am I doing something wrong or does the happen often?
@jacksonk53087 жыл бұрын
Well, both the loader and backhoe are meant to break the ground and dig, but I'm guessing you mean while these are in the air. If you're running the machine in the high gear while driving then yeah, that could be it. I would also suggest checking yourself to see if you locked the differential or put it in four wheel drive. If not, then it's probably just how wet it has been. Besides weight on the loader which puts weight on the front tires which do the most rubbing on the turf which can cause it to sink in and tear it up, that's the only thing I can think of other than it just being the condition of your property. Hope this helped, if not, sorry.
@jws200007 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jackson. That does help. For my knowledge, why does 4WD damage turf greater than 2WD?
@jacksonk53087 жыл бұрын
Well, 4WD runs drive force to all four tires at once right? Basically, with that front tire pivoting at the same time that it's pulling the weight of the tractor it digs in, and then when the rear tire goes over it it kind of squishes it in and tears it out a little bit. I would even go as far as to say you don't need 4WD for loader work or backhoe work, especially backhoe work. Just set the parking brake for backhoe work. You really only need four wheel drive if you get stuck or don't have enough traction with just the rear wheels. You might want to use the differential lock if one tire gets stuck and the other is still spinning. If you're gonna be using the machine for clearing snow this winter, that's when you're really going to need to put in four wheel drive. And don't worry about tire chains if you're only getting like a foot of snow. We had turf tires on our old BX2230 and we used a snow blower and pushed snow with that with no problem, no tire chains needed. That's not to say that you don't need them, but I suggest that you try clearing snow without them once or twice the first times around. You'll see if you need them then, if you do have to clear snow. I also suggest getting a front plow, either for the loader or the quick hitch, over a snowblower because from personal experience, you're gonna get a lot of snow back in the face snowblowing with an open station tractor such as a BX. Plows still work for long driveways fairly well as long as you angle them, but if you get a foot and a half or higher of snow then you should consider a snowblower because a plow will take longer with that much snow. Sorry for wasting your time with the whole snow part if you don't get any. Hope that explains it, anyways. Always happy to help someone out. Always even happier when they accept that help. Take care.
@kd68366 жыл бұрын
Go 2 wheel drive and slow down. That should solve it.
@coypatton31606 жыл бұрын
KD 68 also reduce your weight on the machine. I.E. the backhoe is a lot of rear weight if you are not using it. Most people I know that mow with their tractors will remove the loader even while mowing. Basically I suggest being as less aggressive as you can he for whatever job you are doing for your turf. 2wd with out diff lock is less aggressive than with diff lock 4 wd with lots of weight (loader with full bucket and backhoe) being the most aggressive.

hello, out of curiosity, what kind of tire would you recommend for snow removal? We use a rear mounted blower on our L4400. most of the drive ways we clear are pavement. Currently we have R3 turfs on (because of the summer use on the tractor), but they're terrible. Wondering if R1's would be a better alternative for our application; and if so, what kind of change in traction could we expect? Thanks
@jeremydavis25956 жыл бұрын
sierradriver 101 I know it's a lot smaller machine, but I use a 90's Craftsman GT with front blade & R1 ags for snow removal. The difference between turfs & ags in snow is incredible. With turf tires I couldnt move anything deeper than 4 to 6" without spinning out. With R1 tires & 50lbs of fluid in each wheel it will plow 10-12 deep snow as good turfs with chains on them. Basically it depends on the surface of driveways, if you aren't picky enough to care if you get marks from tire chains, throw chains on your turfs, otherwise get a set of R1s.
@wanderingcanadian126 жыл бұрын
awesome thank you ! after researching online, all i found out is people preferred turfs. in all honestly, i couldn't believe that. we've been using turfs for years and to plow anything deeper than about a foot all we do is spin. I always figured R1's had to be better. thank you for confirming ! as far as tire chains go, 95% of the driveways we plow are paved, so chains aren't really in the question. lol

You English are weird - you should start with a surface and a season. Tires for ice and snow and dirt and inclination - is the road flat or it is a hill, is there a gravel or a concrete or a pavement. And most important - tell them that all Kubota easily goes uphill forward at 10 degrees but stack at 5 degrees driving rear end first. And only after that - start talking about different manufacturers.

You drive R4s on pavement and you'll think you're on steel lugs. Worst ride I've ever had.

+OldTractors I do it every day, can't ever say i've felt the tread.

Messick Farm Equipment I did it for three hours once, at that was enough. Perhaps they ride better on turf or dirt.

my R4s must be defective cause i feel more like being on a carpet when driving on pavement or it is my brain that is. lol

I have R4 tires on my BX2360 and it rides fine down the road. I have a smooth ride.

Very informative. But what is wrong with your left leg and foot. It’s annoying and offensive your presentation of the sole of your shoe, and it distracts from your objective.
