I am from Spartanburg, SC and grew up with the Marshall Tucker Boys and am a musician myself. I thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to this rendition of this song. I know Toy would love this heartfelt cover of his song. I loved it.

The first time I heard this song was in 1978 or 1979 at the Iceland Arena in Montague, PEI. I have been a big fan ever since. My most memorable time hearing this song was in 1981 at the Alberta Jam in Calgary. The outdoor venue was covered in NS flags. Matt did 'Farewell to Nova Scotia' as an encore, and the place went nuts.

couple years ago pugwash harbour canada day firewoks nite brought the kids down to see them sore back and pounding head ache ,i give them a few bucks sent them out to the carnival rides parked the car under a shade tree at the funeral home facing the harbour ,put the seat back and rolled the windows down to let the sea breeze through and fell a sleep next thing i know i wake up to the band playing on the main stage and half asleep "i know that voice singing about dorchester ", man what a feeling listen to a few more songs without lifting my head just enjoying the moment the sun had gone down the headache was gone it was like it was all right with the world and as i was deciding to get up to wander down to the stage to see mat cant you see started up and the gift he has of pulling you into the moment of the story in the song i just let the music roll over me with the cool evening sea breeze as i was remebering the jobs the travels the loves the song was building for a grand finnish when kaboom the fireworks went off and killed the show that my friends has been the story of my life

The Legend working his magic. I've seen Matt over 20 times since 1978, be it a small club only half full , midweek in cold Feburary month, in Gander NL, or opening for the Eagles at the Salmon Festival in GrandFallls Windsor NL. He always put 110% into every performance I've ever seen do. Rock on Matt, from downtown Porterville.

Wow, that was great! I wanted to play it really loud but my wife was sleeping in the other room. I grew up in PEI, and I think that I saw Matt somewhere @ 1980 and a few times after that. He was always great, and this song, and Caledonia, were big favorites of my friends. I live in Los Angeles now, and I expect that he will never be on tour down here, but hopefully, sometime in the future, I can see him in Halifax, or somewhere in the neighborhood!

100%. That and the rhythm section of bass and drums. What a great Cape Breton take on Southern Rock this song is.

A comment on Marshall Tuckers performance on this song brought me here. Minglewwood does the song justice however the flute from the original is sorely missed.

Can’t even say how many different incarnations I’ve heard of Matt’s Iteration of this song , no reinvention , I’ve had the privilege to hear live , over the years , many of which have had the random , but brilliant voices of Pam Marsh , Wayne Nicholson, Sam Moon , and many more, and god only knows how many gifted instrumentalists , and probably hundreds which were preluded by my beloved late partner, Lee Stanley’s distinctive Southern drawl , as tour manager, in the dressing room , of “it’s show time “ , but this one is new to me and brilliantly executed...,I mean , Marshall Tucker Band ,,,could they possibly have imagined...no , no , no ...it’s started out as okay...ish ...tune ,,but , OMG ,,, just continues to be elevated ...by Matt’s interpretation, and , clearly, the generations he’s had the musical genius to lift keep lifting this song with ...so fantastic

Enver lost his Life, while driving on a Harley. My friend lost his life. The reason I play Harmonica today, Is because of Enver!!

Irish Bob I loved Enver. Saw him at the moon every time they played. I use to roll him big hash joints and he would tell me he always rerolled them and would get three. The night they signed with RCA was a hell of a party!
