Kumina was choreographed in 1971 by Rex Nettleford. The roles of King and Queen were danced by Nettleford and Pansy Hassan respectively supported by the full company of Singers and Musicians who were led by Marjorie Whylie, Musical Director Emerita.
Kumina is a dance based on the Jamaican Afro-cult to be found largely the parish of St. Thomas where rites are held for a variety of occasions.
