So funfact, shen might have misinterpreted the prophecy from the beginning. The prophecy mentions a warrior of black and white would ultimately lead to his downfall, but that description doesn't just fit the pandas, but also shen himself. He himself is a warrior of black and white too, and ultimately what takes him down isn't really po, it's his own refusal to let go of the past and in his rage he damages his surrounding so much he gets taken out by his own weapon. The thing that could have saved him wasn't to change something about the world, but to change himself, yet due to his lack of self reflection he was doomed from the start.

@@OctoKrool She quite literally said she foretold a panda when talking to shen, and I'm sure she said the same thing back then as well and that's why he massacred the pandas and not every animal that was black and white. The warrior of black and white refers to the balance of yin and yang that must be reached for inner peace. Po did not remember the hardships and slaughter of his people so he never had much experience with Yin until he found out about his origin. This is also why the symbol of yin and yang shows up throughout the movie whenever a warrior of black and white is mentioned. She foretold a panda who was foretold to be a warrior of black and white/Yin Yang, this is why he killed the pandas and made sure to forever scar any surviving pandas, hence shin asking how he achieved inner peace when he took everything from him. Shin knew black and white was not about Pos colors directly. This is even further explained in the third film when oogway tells Po he choose him because she saw a future and past of kung th a true master of Yin and Yang once again showing the black and white balanced yin yang symbol.

@@strenuousspider9525 hmm, i didn't realize you answered me. i hope you don't mind me replying after all this time^^ mind telling me where specifically she say it's a panda? because if you watch the movie, she never actually explicitly states it's a panda. all her prophecy says is that "a peacock will be stopped by a warrior of black and white". it never specifies a panda, it's just what shen and everyone else assumes, because they are the most fitting to her description. I agree that "balance" plays a big role in the movie and po finding his inner peace is definitely important and plays into that theme, but so does shen.... or rather his lack of balance. what ultimately takes him down is his lack of balance and his concious refusal to find inner peace. he plays just as much into the theming as po does. you're making the same mistake shen did, you're taking the prophecy to literal, when prophecies hardly ever are that straightforward. there's always some twist or hidden meaning in there that isn't immediately noticeable. now could the prophecy be about po? sure, it very well could be. but it could be just as easily about shen. that's the beauty of good writing^^
@strenuousspider95252 жыл бұрын
@@thechatteringclown When Po and the five find the weapon when captured scene heavily implies such, then during the scene Po is finding inner peace she straight up says. I foretold someone, a panda. When talking to Po about shin and the fortune. Take the heavily implied scene and the scene she straight up says she fortold a panda with shin trying to wipe out the pandas then it’s quite clear.

That's also probably why he accepted his death so quickly all of a sudden after holding on to fighting against the world for so long. Because he thinks dying by his own creation means he proved his parents and the seer wrong. That the Panda wouldn't be his end when he only fulfilled it. A warrior of black and white. And when Po looks back on his life after the revelation about his losses, he thinks of his dad finding him, then doing kung fu with the Five, and finally, his dad feeding him noodles.

I agree about letting villains be villains largely. I do like a good redeeming story but it has to be a *good* redeemding story and not as you say cheap. They did the same thing with Tai Lung in the first movie were he *almost* accepted Shi Fu's apology, you saw his expression soften and he almost smiled but in the end, he was all about power. Shi Fu's apology and love was secondary, that was what made him a villain in the first place. And that is very good writing because it's realistic. People do not turn on a dime. If they do, there must be good reason, surely take a long while and have a good motive for abandoning their ardent beliefs.

Couldn't agree more, I feel like it's always so bizarre when the villain at the last second has a change of heart; it feels forced and fake.
