Enjoy my reaction to Kung fu Panda 2!! Po certainly has come a long way since the beginning of the first film, not just in his power but also his personal growth.

The reason Po's final memory of his mom was in the movie's normal animation style as opposed to the flashback one, is because he finally accepted his past.

Yeah that was a super cool creative choice from the animators. Love when animation style does more than just look cool, it has a unique story telling purpose.

It's amazing how Mr Ping is the source of wisdom in these movies. When Po asked about how he was adopted, Ping says "You have me, you have Kung Fu, and you have noodles." When Po has his flashback and thinks back on how happy his life turned out, he thinks of his dad, learning Kung Fu with the Five, and then his father feeding him noodles, in that order.

Mr. Ping often mirrored Master Oogway's and the Soothsayer's teachings only in the form of noodle analogies. He is very wise in a very dad sort of way.

Probably the best of the trilogy and one of the best animated sequels of all time. Shen is one of my favourite animated villains and the whole film is just perfect to me.

That’s one of my biggest reasons for loving this film is just how awesome Shen is. Such a good film 👌
@Drake844221

The fascinating thing with Shen's death is that... it feels as though he truly was at peace when it came. The way he closed his eyes, and let it happen. It is my personal opinion that Shen... felt trapped by all of the things that he was supposed to be, the things he felt he _had_ to be, all the way up until the end there. Choosing to die the way that he did was... in many ways, his first _real_ choice of his own... probably in his life. It was the only way that he could find freedom. He saw that Po chose to not be defined by his pain, and when he did... he understood that he, too, had a choice... and a path to freedom. But his path to freedom _was_ death. It is a tragic fate, but... what else was there for him? Could he have walked free? A life in prison would have been his likely fate, but even if he escaped spending the rest of his life in jail, the one thing that he could never escape was everything that he'd done. And so... oblivion was his best remaining option. You see it in him through the whole movie... how driven by forces he believes are beyond his control he is at all points in the story. That's the wildness in his eyes every step of the way... the look of a cornered beast. Now, one line that I'll get into in the next movie's reaction that I want to point out here is where Po is saying "If I'm not the Dragon Warrior, then who am I?" That ties in with a very significant realization on my own part, but that's another story for another video.

Yeah I totally see that point of few. It could also be that he’s been denying “destiny” his whole life and finally he accepts the inevitability of his destiny.

Shen's final conversation with the Soothsayer is touching to me, and one of the few moments in which we can see his humanity before he abandons it because he's past the point of no return. Great reaction! Nice catch with the action figure being caged :D I get so emotional watching this film

This one and HTTYD 2 are the best sequel animated movies!!! I truly love this movie, specially with some details... When he DREAMED his parents and the attack to the village for the first time, it was 2D; because it was something of his "imagination/a dream"... But when he finds his inner peace and truly accept what HAPPENED to his family, it is shown in 3D, because it has come his reality, a part of his life...

Since you’ve already watched Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Is it just me, or did no one else realize that they used the exact same line for both Shen and Death?? Shen: “Run, run little panda” Death: “Corre, corre gattito” (Run, run little cat) Edit: and yes, I also talk in my sleep, but a little more extreme (according to my parents, I had a singing competition once and on the night before, I started vocalizing in my sleep lmao)

Dreamworks never misses with their villains. Even Shen, who on the surface level, really is just a horrible person. You can see it in the minute behaviors and expressions they purposefully animate that he was so desperate to be accepted by others, to be loved, something he couldn't see he was. And it ties in perfectly with his design since in nature, white peacocks are ostracized by other peacocks because of their coloration due to a recessive gene, which is why they're so rare in the wild. You can even see it when he accepts that he's too far gone to turn back and repay for his wrongdoings when the Soothsayer tells him his parents always loved him, he was just too blinded by his obsessive need to be accepted and love to truly see it. And then later when he accepts his death by his own doings, because he knows that he chose to be a monster all that time ago that at point he can't do anything but continue to the very end. A poetic end for a character that's mainly white, which in China, is the traditional color relating to death and funerary robes.

@23:44 fun fact: tigers cant roar, they hiss & growl like domestic cats @28:20 another funfact: master Croc is voiced by Jean Claude Van Damme, hence his famous leg splits @28:26 3rd funfac, shifu(pronounced shr fu) means master in Mandarin so Master Shifu is literally master master @31:50 notice how Shen is also a warrior of black & white

I don’t know if anyone has said it, but my favorite thing about the prophecy is that all Soothsayer says is that it will be a warrior of black and white that will defeat Shen. She doesn’t specify that it’s a panda. when you look at Shens colors he is also black and white. But, by going out to attack pandas he created the one who would defeat him. Shen, a warrior of black and white, through his pride and arrogance defeated himself. Thus making the prophecy true in two ways.

the reason master ox and croc were so hesitant to fight is because master rhino was actually a very good friend of theirs and they were mourning him still, he was the strongest out of the three and seeing him die that way was probably shocking to them

Can I ask, how old are you? Not to be mean, I want to compliment you on the fact that despite being an adult you still have the ability to tap into the wonder and enjoyment of youth. I am like that but much older than you...57 last Nov...but I STILL LOVE animated films, and I can still tap into the wonder, and emotion of my youth. Kids today in their young adulthood/teens/etc...seem to not understand that memory is an odd thing. Us older folks have trouble remembering where we put our keys, but can look back and remember a lot. I can still close my eyes and visualize my first Christmas, and my happiest Christmas of my youth, and my first babysitter, and how wonderful she was....I enjoy your reactions because not only are you introspective, and philosophical, but simply able smile, and laugh, and enjoy the film as same as young kids do....good on ya mate! In the first film I laughed when Po said to his goose dad, "Sometimes I don't even feel like your son". Mr Ping looks a bit embarrassed at that point. I thought that was an intentional joke from the creators becouse yeah obviously, the biological way that is...

I just realized that Po is basically oobleck (a non-newtonian fluid). the stronger his enemy is, the stronger he is. the weaker his enemy is, the weaker he is. Meaning the best way to beat him would be as a novice in martial arts. know the absolute basics and nothing more. that's where the 5 can then step in to help, though.

I love how the Kung Fu Panda series has a major theme of self fulfilling prophecies, like in this movie if Shen didn’t kill off all the Panda’s, Po will still live in their village with his birth parents and Po wouldn’t have gotten scouted as the dragon warrior, therefore he wouldn’t be a problem to Shen. And then in the first movie, upon hearing that Tai Lung was going to escape, Shifu sent a bird to make sure he’s secured in the prison, but it was that very bird he sent that gave Tai Lung the feather he needed to escape, so lesson is, if these people just didn’t enact preventative measures after hearing the future then the future wouldn’t have come true

I like how you noticed the other facets of Shen other than being the villain. You saw his fear, his frustration and most importantly, his pain. That moment where the fortune teller talk to him about his parents' love, you can see the surprise in his eyes (maybe he realizes that he ruined his entire life and those who loved him?), those eyes that make you remember that regardless of his actions, there is still a person (or a turkey, in this case) and it makes you look at him and ask "oh Shen, what are you doing?", like someone who sees someone self-destruct and feel pity for him and even makes you want to help him. That moment where he decides to leave the past behind is where he marked his destiny, which ultimately led him to be the villain of this story and that is why I find Shen so fascinating. Excellent reaction.

God becomes your Father and all who have been saved by grace and accepted His gift of Salvation, what Jesus did for us, you have brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world.
