Kunihi ka mauna.mov

This is an oli komo or oli kāhea, a chant requesting permission to come inside or to enter. Kunihi ka mauna was was uttered by the goddess Hi'iaka to cross the Wailua River on her journey to fetch her older sister Pele's lover Lohi'au from Kaua'i. This oli kāhea serves today as a an entrance recital for Hawaiian
hula students, and others seeking permission to enter the forest, or other special places.
