Real Karate brings Karate into disrepute?! Karate-do Kyohan is the ONLY book verified to be written by Funakoshi-sensei himself! Are you people here to learn to fight or to learn how to play tag and kiai?

@@FoieGras few are those that practice in the methods and ways he did back then. His book is not the only source of Karate either. Having that said, the techniques are sound,the training methodology requires intensity. In no way were Funakoshi's teacher lenient with him. What he passed down to the Japanese was already a watered down version. His son made it even more so with high kicks and reducing open hand strikes. Shotokan now is very far from what was shared with Him. Therefore the critiques are not wrong, but they are far from right as well...

Funakoshi-sensei threw a much younger and stronger man clean across the room just by twitching. He actually tried to sneak up on him while he was meditating and you talk about “resisting opponents?”
