The stuff he is claiming is BS is stuff that came from Kurt's own mouth. Not once is the spoken word story presented as fact, even CL and Brett said they thought it was just a story. I don't get why people fixate on this one small animated part of the movie. Kurt even wrote it down in his journals. I don't think Buzz is lying, I just think he's looking at it the wrong way.

Unfortunately Kurt and his family are living off his fame. It's just how it went. I don't know what Kurt would have done if was still alive. We don't know what his inner circle was like. We can only rely on a series of characters who all have different motives about Kurt, his life and how his fame and money is being milked every day.

We know that Kristen Pfaff, Hole's bassist and part of Kurt's inner circle, wasn't interested in his money. She was actually anxious to get away from Seattle, back to her hometown in Minneapolis to rejoin with her underground band Janitor Joe, because she was unhappy and couldn't fit into the Seattle crowd. In fact, she didn't care about money and fame so much that she cancelled her contract with Hole/Geffen after Kurt died so she wouldn't have to tour with them. A lot of people think that Kurt would have ended up with Kristen if he had lived because she was a genuine person who cared about music and would spend 4-5 hours a day talking on the phone with him about their common interests. I can't think of anyone more trustworthy around him at that time. She died two months after him, with all the same people involved as with Kurt, down to the doctor who did the autopsy.

What animosity ,man ? Buzz was (perhaps ) the last person Kurt shared a serious conversation with about his personal life (circa his last shows: Munich - Germany ) when they had Melvins as the opening band . Buzz told him to " run" literally , to "leave her everything and run , play a few solo shows " ( This is a direct Buzz quote from that conversation in Munich btw - google it if necessary ) . Buzz was very aware of the dangerous predicament his friend was in. Buzz is withholding a LOT of personal information concerning Kurt ,to this day , if anything .

Didn't you hear the sarcasm? Also the fact that Buzz was paid for the review rather indicates that he wanted to do a meaningful job not the otherwise and wraped it like he did. "people want him to be suuicidal. How about that? They actually wanted him to be suicidal!" And guess what? A conspiracy is 2 or more people who conspire by coming up with a plan for good or bad to be implimented toward one or many people. We didnt plan for any of this that happened!. But if we "conspiracy theorists" go by your definition, and your opinion that there is no other possible scenario but suicide, you could also be considered a 'conspiracy theorist' yourself. I believe that some of you just can't accept the fact that there is alot of evil, hatred, jealousy and greed out there in our world! Putting labels on people is stupid, simplistic and most often used incorrectly just to make a person's opinion seem more valid and reasonable when it is anything but. What is more reasonable is to open up your mind and stop labeling Kurt and others who do not agree with your opinion. Grow up please!

i think the issue of a constantly misinterpreted Kurt Cobain and the issue of his actual death are two different fields. While about the interpretation side we all can have long and ideally constructive and fruitful exchange - the issue of his actual death is very short and physical: the official version of his death is false by evidence and proof. After all, the facts are in sum that it is scientifically impossible that he died by his own hand. And that changes also the interpretation of his as a mental health issued, weak person. // The problem is for once that the departments legally in charge, benefit from keeping the official version, and for twice that everybody who hears ''suicide'' first, it is hard to let lose of interpreting suicide into everything Kurt Cobain. // That is why it makes it such a controversial and ridiculously difficult case.

I think Kurt wasn’t a heroin addict. Articles right after his suicide quoting Courtney and Krist both state he wasn’t an addict and Krist said heroin was just a part of Kurt’s life. And in the Everett True bio Cali is quoted as saying Kurt was doing nearly as much heroin as people say he was. I think Kurt thought Courtney was cheating and she heavily manipulated him, and he realized his life was a sham.

You can read about that in a lot of interviews, especially in the era up to In Utero. 3. Many peers from the Seattle scene testfied this myth making quality. 4. there are so many remarkable details worth mentioning in the film Montage Of Heck and it's context, script and production, that it is hard to chose with which to start. // Watch the interviews in full lenght, which are on youtube and probably in the bonus titles of any copy of the film: the people interviewed all answer in a similar way, like they all have been asked the same questions, and been given the same inspirational suggestion on what to answer. For example: ''Tell us your memory of Kurt. And also try and remember one detail that pictures him as a fully normal human being.'' Now if you'd be interviewed and you hear such as this, it sounds alright and positive, i guess. We want to portrait this human as a human with faults and weaknesses, not as a god. Fully cool. Unfortunately not cool in this case, but shady and sneaky manipulative. The whole film tries to erase the outstanding, hard working, sane artist he was. And if you had been interviewed, and followed the inspirational, suggestive advice to remember something ''very human'' instead of something ''very god'' - you had done what happened here over the whole creation of the film: Kurt Cobain ends being pictured as a psycho. And this obviously fully conceptual, after the intention this film production was put on it's way - which was the aiming to ''talk about Kut Cobain'' , but actually to polish Courtney Love's legacy and state, to make sure world would believe she had a load to carry with this psycho - the poor hassled and caring wife - and thank her she was so caring, but she could ''not save him''. // ..Jesus Christ - anybody ever worked somewhere near the business of promotion, marketing and image psychology in big business - knows exactly what we are talking about here without even reading to the end. or otherwise: believe in Unicorns and the flat earth. // Courtney Love's most professional business was always to create an image of her's that she like the world to see - at any price. And here she uses Cobain estate money to do another big image creative, manipulative, professional move in the size of big business to the benefit of her major focus throughout her whole life. Successful. In this example, the product is Montage Of Heck. // Don't expect the film tells us anything about a human Kurt Cobain. And maybe quit believing in Unicorns, if you ever did. Even if they are beautiful to look at - in fiction books. When it comes to reality on planet earth, do yourself the favor and remain smart, and stay in reality. // P.S. If you'd want to know something about Kurt Cobain, you might want to leave the consumable, big money made, chocolate bar production, fiction character, family entertainment ''masterpiece'' Montage Of Heck to the side before you even start, and look at all other biographies and film documentaries with pre-caution too. Kurt Cobain was and is of the most misunderstood and misinterpreted artists of all time. Checking out material about him probably requires to view most of it, only to notice that they all create imagery in one or another way, and that they all have one or another scent of misinterpretation to them. Maybe use your own clear mind in an unstressed moment, and mind that this human has worked from a birthday gift of a musical instrument at teenage, for ten years in non-fame on about no-budget, through all odds including poverty to homelessness and an odyssey through rootlessness in terms of personal backgrounds, to create communicative art after a determined vision, with outstanding self-discipline and remarkable humane balance that everybody along the way remembers him for - to finally change our cultural landscapes. Next, go through some mathematics, statistics in numbers, such as the uncounted stage performances in the comparatively short time of only just over 2 years in fame, and maybe conclude that all this together is not achieved by just anybody, and surely not by mental health issues dominated character - as which over-challenged world loves to hold him pictured as - because it is so much easier and self-fulfilling to look down on such person than maybe to admit that at times we might as well need to look up.

Everyone handles things differently. My first girlfriend was killed in a car accident years ago. When I found out, I was crushed. Others in our group of longtime friends and family, all but one, didn't even want to talk about it. Another friend/co-worker was killed by a semi while walking home. I cussed her up one side and down the other, still do, but that doesn't mean I didn't care about her as a friend. I suspect Buzz isn't really that pissed at Curt, but may be pissed at everything surrounding it all. He's probably just as in the dark about some things as anyone else. Maybe even feels a little guilt in some strange way. Conjecture on my part, but like I said, everyone handles situations like this differently. I don't think Buzz is lying, just handling it his way.

i think it was hard for buzz to have worked so hard at making it just to watch the kids who used to carry his gear sell millions of records. the melvins have written some amazing songs but you have to search them out, they never made it to the radio like nirvana and sound garden and alice in chains did. they wer all mentored by bands that never saw the success that the kids they mentored did. who knows maby he thought it was unfair and unjust to get glossed over and outshined by the kids who started out carrying in his gear?idk i was never a big melvins fan until i saw them live and they had two drummers and 2 bass players and it was amazing and ive ben a fan ever since! unlike nirvana witch i was a fan of as soon as i heard teen spirit at age 12 in 1992..almost 20 yrs later i discover the melvins..

my shortest comment on Montage Of Heck is: the teams working for Courtney Love advised to steer against the expectable Documentation Soaked In Bleach. ''We need to do some work now: let's create a film that will corner Soaked In Bleach, will be accepted and adopted by the mainstream audience and media alike, and will picture Kurt Cobain in the way it let's look Courtney Love as good as it only can. The result of this concept is Montage Of Heck. It does not tell about Kurt Cobain. It tells about what you just read.

In fact I don’t think it said much that hasn’t been said already, it’s just interesting found footage and animation. Ps the stuff in Kurt and Courtney’s flat is super weird. Especially considering Courtney’s ex. boyfriend filmed their sexy tape which the film shows the start of. I was there, I saw Nirvana live in all their stages, as a child, but yes you called them jealous, and I don't believe Buzz was sober and that he didn't try to OD him, for his self promotion. Like I said, I was there, and so was my dad. We saw Paul McCartney for $250, but we saw Nirvana for $14, for the last time at UNO Lakefront, the happiest day of my life, until the birth of my son, in 96. I love conspiracies, but at the same time, I'd rather believe Kurt had enough, and took control. I love you spyfox, but I bought all the magazines. I heard Kurt say he was going to kill himself. I remember, before cell phones, I walked off the school bus, to dozens of messages from friends, but especially my girlfriend who was crying for me, just after the Rome OD, April 8th, Kurt Loder in tears, while I said "We all saw it coming, just a matter of when". I love conspiracy theories, I've lived with this for 25 years, but In the end, I just want to believe that all these jealous nobodies, hurt him, and took matters into his own hands, love you Spyfox but we all saw it coming..

Amen. I think Montage of Heck was true and full of facts. Kurt absolutely killed himself, it's in his lyrics, it's in his journals. People that didn't grow up at that time may not realize that. These "new fans" grew up in the internet age and they've always heard the conspiracy theories about Kurt being killed. I don't believe one word of it. And love or hate his wife, Courtney was his wife, she is the mother of his child, and they were deeply in love, you can tell when you watch the movie. I'm like you. I grew up watching Kurt on MTV, Alice in Chains, and all these other mega-depressed bands. Their music was basically a soundtrack to a slow death, and I loved it anyway. Nothing wrong with that. But, yes...it is absolutely clear what happened to Kurt, and the last people to see him (Duff Mckagan included) have always said that Kurt was at the end of his rope.

Nirvana is my all time favorite band. Melvins are one of my favorites as well. IMO Buzz and Dale didn't envy Kurt's success at all. Buzz is very cut and dry and very straight forward with everything. Dale played on numerous Nirvana tracks, played live when they needed a fill in. He played on the Fecal Matter tape. Nirvana and the Melvins played shows together (obvious). The Melvins were even on some of the final dates of the last tour Nirvana did. What I think Buzz is trying to get across is that no matter what they say, no one will take their word for it. Melvins are underground still to this day. Nirvana is a cultural phenomenon. Also, as a close friends, Buzz and Dale have every right with their options. When they were recording their major label album "Houdini" Kurt was the co producer. his drug addiction was interfering with the recording so they told him to get lost (which I feel any person would do when it came to their career, etc.) And as for "Montage of Heck" for any fan of Nirvana or Kurt it's something to watch, but it is definitely a film that isn't reliable with it's sources or stories. The director is a dickhead and you can tell any little detail that would stir up any type of controversy he was all about throwing in. Watch it for sure, but there is not much to gain from it whatsoever. Looking forward to the final video in the Nirvana series! keep doing what you do man!

Just FYI, in Montage of Heck, the infamous "retard fucker" story was narrated by cobain himself. It was obviously a recording of a story he wrote. My first impression was that it was fictional and meant to be edgy. He sounds young in the recording. Despite anything else, you should still take a look at "Montage". I especially enjoyed seeing the old home videos and recordings of kurt as a little kid, and seeing all his drawings going all the way back to age 7. Once courtney enters the story it does become a lot harder to watch, I'll say that. I think it was well done all in all though.

Nothing in Montage of Heck any Nirvana fan hasn't heard a million times. And yes it is 90% bullshit just like anything about Kurt it is more about portraying an image than who he actually was. I don't know any of these people but I personally get the impression that Buzz and Dale are more upset with how the whole machine gobbled Kurt up and he ended up being a strung-out commodity and a lot of what is perceived as dissing Kurt is really more criticism of the storm he got caught up in where he was surrounded by leeches who were more concerned with the money he could make them than his own well-being and eventually cost him his life. I do believe Buzz is extremely sincere when he says he's glad that The Melvins didn't explode into the biggest band in the world and weren't thrust into such a position.

- and poor pushed around Frances Bean walks up to comment on camera: '' Yes i belive this film shows my father more like the real human being he was''. A-spyFox is fully correct pointing this out, because this statement by Frances Bean is a statement of an adult person who reviews another person. We know for fact that Frances Bean was only 2 years old, when her fathers life ended, and that she never has seen her father with adult eyes that could conclude what Kurt Cobain is as a private human in difference to for example his public image. Such rational and conclusive viewing of others is impossible by a person at age 2. Means: other people or/and Courtney Love have sent her to the microphone in public on camera, to make this statement, to back up the film. In other words: here we got another typical C. Love manipulative move, that does not scare away from lying, manipulating and - on the person Frances Bean - from exploiting others to do their part in hr game of lies. // ( Frances' statement on camera is on youtube. We wonder how many people have stumbled over it, and noticed the full-on manipulation that stands behind it.)

Cobain's effective value as a very positive influence for anybody in the world, could be a lot bigger, if mainstream and people like CL would not have big reasosn to let him stand as the mental cripple 'depressed loser' type. When Nirvana played at the Casbah in San Diego, CA on 08/19/90 with Dale Crocker on Drums they jammed on the Melvins Song “Eye Flys” then Even when Nirvana became famous Nirvana had the Melvins on the North American Nevermind Tour in September / October 1991, on SNL 01/11/92 Krist wore a Melvins t-shirt (during Teen Spirit / then Dave Wore it on Territorial Pissings while Krist put on an L7 t-shirt), and during the Nevermind Pacific Rim Tour at a show in Australia during a Noise Jam, Kurt jams on a Melvins riff of the song “Vile” and when Nirvana headlined the ‘92 Reading Festival on August 30, 1992 Nirvana handpicked all the bands that played that day 08/30/92 at Reading Festival and the Melvins were one of those bands… Also on Nirvana’s American In Utero Tour they had The Melvins as one of the Opening Bands during part of the Tour, Same with Nirvana’s European In Utero Tour they had the Melvins on part of that Tour… The Melvins was the Opening Band on Nirvana’s final show on March 1, 1994 in Munich, Germany. And before Nirvana played their last show on March 1, 1994 in Munich, Germany before Nirvana played Kurt had an Argument with Courtney over the phone in which Kurt got pissed and hung up on her and afterwards Kurt talked to Buzz about how he wants to Divorce Courtney and get away from her and get Custody of Frances Bean. So since Kurt had the Melvins on Nirvana’s Tours in 1991, 1993, 1994 and had them on a show in 1992. And also Kurt producing about 5 or 6 songs on the Melvins Houdini album in 1992. Also on that Album Kurt plays guitar on the song “Sky Pup” (which you can hear Kurt’s Electro-Harmonix Small Clone) and played percussion on the song “Spread Eagle Beagle”… So in my opinion I believe Kurt and Buzz had been friends from 1983-1994 when Kurt passed away.

Sort of funny that Krist N. is basically calling Buzz an idiot "oh there goes Buzz again.....But we love him even though he's got these wacky ideas."

I'm pretty sure you can watch montage of heck free on Amazon prime but maybe I'm wrong. Is it worth watching? If you're a fan yes. Is it wholly accurate? Heck no. There are some pretty interesting parts and clips though. I think its better than "Kurt and Courtney" for what its worth..

What I really want to know the answer to is WHY his band mates think that he really took his own life and they ignore the real evidence of murder. Do they feel afraid of speaking the truth or something more sinister?

Fear, definitely. I’ve never seen any media about Dave thinking it was a suicide.

Buzz is not crazy.. Being envious for a bit is different from not being of sound mind. He speaks the truth and that's why he is not inside the world of the few lead singers alive today from 90's grunge.

@@mireilleblacke6567 even so. He chose to leave a treatment center and isolate at home without telling anyone. As far as what exactly happened in the room above the garage I cannot say..as in if there was anyone else with him in the room that helped him die. If not, he made the choice to abandon his family and friends. He chose not to receive medical attention. That's where I draw the line to his responsibility
