The best quotes from this video: "You wann know how to get out? tap tap tap...that's how you're gonna get out." "The easiest way is to don't get here because you f'ed up a long time ago." "You're mileage may vary." ...and my personal favorite: "This is shit; this is utter shit." Great job. I love these videos.

I learned that spinout technique as the original "Kimura escape" from a Rickson Gracie black belt, it works even better if you get turned on your side and the dude tries stepping over your head, gives you a ton of space and even momentum when he cranks your arm, to spin and get your head out.

So I intentionally put myself in the second position, the one where you grab your collar just to test this move; it worked. I also let myself get get caught in the last position with him on his side. I couldn't pull off the second move because he saw it coming. All in all, very great information Kurt.

I have a question (I hope it doesn't come off argumentative, I am merely wondering). For the second defense (spinning around the far side to gain space), wouldn't you be spinning right into a far side armbar if he keeps it tight? What stops him from just switching to side control on the other side?

I do understand that, but I'm thinking of the specific cases. I use this angle a good deal, but the main concern for me is the far-side armbar and giving up the back. So I'm wondering if these are issues for Kurt, and if not, how he handles them. I do understand though that no move "always works"
