@@John-Smlth Also putting the cheese on before flipping meant he had to turn down the heat so the cheese wouldn't burn. If he had flipped first, _then_ put on the cheese and flambeed, it might have worked out.

If the burger was still raw, and the judge doesn't feel safe eating it, then the logical place to get a zero would be on the eating (flavour.) I think it was fair and nice for Ben to do it that way, otherwise it would feel like Kush got disqualified for the entire thing, really. He still "made" a burger with toppings and got it on the board in time, same as everyone else, his was just not cooked all the way through. (Even though he did at least attempt to cook it!😂)

In other words, if Kush had just doubled his time and made sure that burger was cooked all the way through, he would have absolutely walked away with the trophy. Proof, as many of us already knew: speed isnt everything, boys. ☺️

I'm glad they actually included rating criteria, which is kind of important when judging who makes the "best" burger, not who makes a burger the fastest. That said, it should have been part of the original consideration for the finalists: flavor and appearance scores divided by the time it took to make it. The 3 finalists didn't have to have the tastiest or best looking burger: they just needed to make an edible burger in the shortest time.

To anyone who doesn't think cabbage can be a burger condiment, i refer you to "chow chow." Which is a sweet picked cabbage that works just like pickle relish in a lot of dishes. Now, not everyone likes pickle relish, but i do. And i find chow chow to be a perfectly sensible alternative. In fact, i have made sausages on a bun with both pickle relish and chow chow as condiments, and it tasted great.

"christmas in a burger" is a tradition we have in Denmark with the "flæskestegssandwich", which also btw includes red cabbage. It is eaten as a streetfood/fastfood the entire year arround, and is oddly enough especially popular at music festivals in the summer time

Those were some seriously creative ideas and ingredients! I was a little surprised that the audience voted that Kush's was inedible. It's probably just a stereotype that I have of Europeans tolerating rarer meat than most Americans (or me having such a small image on my device that I can't tell if it's cooked!). The screaming did me in a bit, but otherwise, I enjoyed watching the creativity. With so many of the crew becoming parents would love to see a chef vs chef where they try to make gourmet "baby food". I recently had to have major surgery on my jaw and have been stuck with liquid food for the last 2 weeks. Trying to preserve the flavor of the original dish when blending is extremely hard the only success I had was McDonald's french fries and nuggets with sweet&sour which carried the flavor of each ingredient even after blending. Fish was the worst idea that we had...
