I really wanted to try this food, but I know I'll get a feeling of deja vu. I live in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, and here, the cuisine has African and indigenous influences. We use palm oil, okra, coconut milk and seafood. Acarajé is a popular delicacy, sold on every corner of the entire city! It consists of a black-eyed bean fritter fried in palm oil. It is stuffed with vatapá (a wheat flour cream, seasoned with cashew nuts, onion, dried shrimp and lots of palm oil) and carurú (chopped okra, seasoned with dried shrimp and palm oil). At night, it is very common to smell the acarajé being fried in the streets of Salvador.

This looks so delicious! I ended up trying this last week and I wish I can say I loved it but I couldn’t finish it. The last time I had okra was 30 years ago and my mom tried to make me eat okra stew and it made me gag because of the texture. I figured all these years later I would have developed a tolerance for it but I can’t get past the sliminess that coats everything it touches. It almost makes me feel like it’s literally taking over my mouth😂😂😂 but man it looks so yummy😄

Also, I always blend ball tamoto wt its seeds. I never waste any liquid coming out of it.😅. And I like it wit lots of hot pepper too😂 Frm my end, people eat dis source wt white rice and foofoo, but I eat dis wt grains(Quinoa, fonio, bulgur, ect...)
