The barriers at train stations are there to also prevent people normally falling on to the railway. There's been quite a few incidents of people pushing other people on to the track, crowd control during rush hour, child prams that roll on to the tracks, children and drunk people falling by accident and suicide attempts. It makes a lot sense to put up barriers.
@kydeanderic10 жыл бұрын
patsybob Oh, yea, it makes incredible sense to put up the barriers. It's sort of insane they don't exist in the first place. I was in a hurry when I shot that so I didn't mention that they prevent accidents too, I was more commenting on how silly the blue light "solution" is. -Eric

I love the go home music!!! We were told when we went to Japan that the reason you wash your hands and rinse your mouth is because you need to be cleansed before going into the temple. Passing under the arch ways(or whatever it's called) cleanses your soul and the water is to clean you physically. Something like that.

What Kyde describes about seeing the Buddha, I totally know that feeling. The first time I felt that was in Washington DC, where I was, "The Capital Dome!", "It's the White House!", "The Washington Monument, right there!" But our first day in Tokyo, we were exiting Shibuya station and got hit with, "That's THE Intersection!". And yes, we had it too when we visited Kamakura.

Great to see a new video from you guys. I'm liking the look of that オムライス! How do you feel about the smoking situation? Do you often find yourself uncomfortably close to smokers in enclosed spaces? And are you both taking note of kanji you don't know in public places? Seems like a good learning tool.
@kydeanderic10 жыл бұрын
GanonDun The smoking is annoying. It's not something that happens all the time, but when it does it's irritating. I can't figure out who thinks it's OK to do something that effects strangers in such a way, it's really bizarre. It's hard to "pick up" kanji as there is SO much of it and unless you see it over and over in the same type of place you don't get enough context to learn it without actually sitting down and studying it. I mean, a few sink in...for instance 押す (means push, like a door) because you see it on doors all the time, but things less practical require traditional study. I like kanji a lot though, so it's fun. -Eric

Haha you two make it look easy, but I'm sure it's not that easy. I'm in law enforcement and I'm not sure how they allow that there being I'm a female and in a same sex marriage.

shannon Nguyen You do raise some different challenges. Typically the easiest way to get into Japan as an English speaking native teaching is the best option. Working in other fields is tough as you are competing with Japanese people for the jobs and their language level is incredibly hard to beat. As far as the same sex marriage, I have no idea how that works as far as visas and stuff goes. It's actually kind of an interesting question...if a same sex couple is legally married in their home country but same sex marriage isn't something recognized in the country they want to move to are they denied marriage-related visas? I have no idea. It'll be nice when the world finally moves forward and stops being ignorant about this stuff. -Eric

Thank you for the advice. My wife and I love to travel, so Japan is top on our bucket list of places to travel one day. We used to live in Hawai'i for 3 years. My wife is active duty army and we were stationed there at Schofield/wheeler army base. Now we are currently stationed here in colorado at Fort carson for the last year. I'm in law enforcement so our jobs keep us from doing a whole lot but when we take vacations we always travel. The world will open its eyes one day do see we are no different than anyone else. Again thanks for the awesome videos and advice you guys rock!
