Such a great mix of Whitney's vocals! One of the best songs released in the last 10 years. BTW, yes Jack you are right Whitney could 'work' in any era. She was THAT great and her voice was so fluid & unique.

This is a song of the times! If she was alive this would hav been a huge hit for her even bigger than it was because it was a huge hit, many commercials used this song. Whitney has a voice of triumph and that's why her SSB was so huge, the world could rally use her right now to calm all this madness. But we didn't deserve her that why she was called home! But this was a reminder of the great messages she brought to us all this song make us smile and have some hope!

I was shocked when I saw the view count for this reaction video. I do like the original as well, but when I heard Kygo's version, I appreciated the modern sound combined with Whitney's timeless vocals so much I just had to request it. Jack, you didn't disappoint, I enjoyed your reaction & I agree with your thoughts about this track. However, I didn't approve the video, which is why I sent the audio version. The video wasn't in line with Whitney's musical image & brand & I wanted to respect that.

I actually hate this version because they removed the bridges. Whitney recorded the song for her 1990 album "I'm your baby tonight" but it was only on the album in Japan. It was remixed posthumously by Kygo but the bridges were removed. It's a cover of the 80s song by Steve Winwood and Chaka Kahn Last summer, Whitney's estate and label put the original version of her cover out on an "I'm your baby tonight" (song, not album) EP.

Whitney's original version is way better!

@@Realviews603 agreed. I like the beat on the kygo version but without the bridges, the song feels incomplete to me

I don’t hate it but I def don’t love it. Just problematic (for me) all around so my opinion is negative-leaning. ✌🏽

Whitney did this song in 1990. The original was recorded in 1977 by Steve Winwood.

I liked it when I first heard it, and I appreciate that it's clearly done with care (lol I just wrote this as you were saying "the vocals were treated with care". Exactly, yes), but it did get boring after the novelty wore off. If it comes on while I'm shuffling stuff on Spotify I'll either skip it or listen to Whitney's original version from the Japan edition of I'm Your Baby Tonight. It's on Spotify though, so you can listen to it, and it's much better than this in my opinion. My issue with dance/EDM remixes is that they insist on having non-lyrical choruses and I just don't like them. This could've been a proper redo of the song, with maybe not all of the lyrics but more of the lyrics instead of the nonsense of vowels the chorus is made up of. After a while of listening to this, that's my main grievance. But still, at least it gave Whitney several chart entries. I'm happy about its existence, I just expected and wish it was more than what it is
