Did not expect Chau's Vietnamese to be that good. I'm surprise that people from the South nowadays still have problems understanding Northern accents. Even back in my days in the 80s, I had quite a few school mates from the north. Furthermore, don't they watch news, shows, ... where there are plenty of hosts who speak in an Northern accent.

hmmm, actually, its not about feeling guilty at all, it's about how when you haven't seen relatives in a long time, it's nice to give them something because they're giving you a lot in return and have helped in other ways, not just an exchange for "free food". They might feed me this time, but maybe I've gone other stuff for them or my parents have done things for them. I've paid for plenty of meals off camera. So there's no guilt at all from me for eating their food on this specific day to make a video out of it.

As an Asian (living in Europe many years) I am surprised that you directly ask "do you have something to eat for me?" For someone from The Netherlands (me) or Germany (Chou) it is normal to be direct, but for a Vietnamese in Vietnam?

These are my relatives, I feel comfortable enough with them to ask that. And even if I don't ask, they'll often ask me. It's very common, even at friends or strangers homes, for them to ask if you've eaten when you come over. I find Vietnamese people to be very forward... especially commenting on people's appearances to their face...

Since you mentioned Viet-Nam and food, did you know many double words in Viet-Namese that have to do with life are associated with eating, thus foods? Ăn chơi - eat and play Ăn học - eat and study or advance oneself Ăn ngủ - eat and sleep or rest Làm Ăn - to work inorder to Bé able to eat aka to invest, to conduct business Ăn nhậu - to party Etc....
