For anyone planning to one day move to Italy and live here, this is the conversation you will need. If you're learning Italian - whether beginner or advanced - these are the colloquial phrases that will help you develop relationships and express yourself with strangers you meet. You can find many more videos on my channel about how I learned Italian and moved to Italy. Making these episodes alone is very time consuming and expensive and if you would like to support my work, you can find my Patreon page here:
/ kylieflavell
You can find my recipes and other information on moving to Italy, learning Italian or my filmmaking equipment on my website:
www.kylieflave...
Please don't follow me on Facebook as that person is not me - they have stolen my identity for the past few years. You can follow me over on Instagram for daily inspiration from Italy and around the world to make you dream, learn a language, cook, travel, move to a foreign country, film, edit or pursue your passion:

I get chills from head to toe whenever I see you post. Giving us a wonderful window into a world that seems as if it's out of a fairy tale book. You literally made your dreams come true. I know they have not been without struggle. And I'm so grateful, your videos are such a comfort to this crazy world going through right now. I hope everyone realizes. We need each other more now than we ever have in our own lifetime. Please do not allow them to separate us and divide us on every fractal level. We all pee yellow and we all bleed red. We are the cog Wheels to everything. We make the world go around. It's time to realize that people. And like I said we do need each other more now than we ever have in our own lifetime. Good luck and Godspeed on all of your endeavors. And I think you so much for your wonderful videos. A Little piece of heaven. No matter what you have to say. What you have to do. I'm such a fan. Much love my darling and too you're handsome prince.

This will be so handy for all those interested in Italy and the Italian language, which I personally believe to be the most beautiful language there is! We Romanians are in a way born knowing Italian, maybe because Romanian it's also a Latin language and has many similarities with Italian. In Romania almost everyone understands Italian, when I moved to Italy when I was 18 I understood almost everything straight away! Great video, loved the cinematic parts a lot! Yesterday evening I watched at least 10 of your videos :) xx

Great photography. You capture the beauty all around you. Even though I'm not planning a trip to Italy or to learn Italian, it's interesting to learn a little about the language. When first listening to a new language all the words seem to run together and people seem to be speaking so fast so seeing the printed words is very helpful. I've studied languages too and understand how much effort you have put in to achieve the fluency you have. You could never have reached the level of comfort and interaction with Italians you have if you hadn't made that effort so I'm sure you'll be an inspiration for any foreigner living in italy. I admire you.

Ciao Kylie, this is a great teaching video with the words in English popping under the Italian phrases! Guido's quick delivery sure was hard to keep up with. 😄👍 And it reminded me of how rapidly some Italians speak! 😉 Yes, your suggestion of making this the year for learning to speak Italian is certainly a good one. I've studied it before but I'd love to re-aquaint myself. Grazie mille per continuare a pubblicare i tuoi video. xx😎🎥💕

Video as always very nice and interesting. A little suggestion and advice to our dear foreign friends, from me who are Italian: Attention as our language (and this is the beauty of it) despite being always strongly linked to its Greek and Latin origins is always in constant evolution. In reality we say that, as for Latin, there are two types of Italian: the classical-correct one and the one defined by the Accademia della Crusca - the highest authority in the field of study, conservation and analysis of the Italian language - as "popular Italian". Please note that, for an Italian, they are both understandable, but while the first is more "correct" in fact (and it is what is taught outside the Italian borders), the other is a little more "rustic", not much cured and with allusions that would not be very correct, but are generally accepted because they are compremsible (such as "Da quand’è" compared to the more correct "Da quant’è"). Personally, after 5 years of classical high school I am a purist of the Italian language and I always use the correct Italian, but this is only for my will, it is not mandatory! 😁 I hope I have been helpful and if you have more specific questions than I said, I am at your disposal! Meanwhile, my compliments to Kylie, as always! 😁

Oh wow, Kylie. I'm currently learning Italian. I can understand when you slowly say these words, but once Guido fires them off, I'm totally lost even though I know what he just said🤭. You're correct when you say that Italians chew, or merge words together. It's partially why Italian has such a beautiful cadence. ❤️ I still have so much more to learn. My class is once a week per zoom. I really wished it was in person, and more often... A la prossima❤️

This is really useful for self taught leaner, because we don’t have recourse to confirm if the way we think is correct or not. For example I’ve tended to use too many gerunds and literally translate to “future tense” however this video just help clean my concerns about that. Now I know even just past tense could cover a lot of usage of gerund and future tense. Thanks!

Ah, Kylie, I got so much joy out of watching your video. I told my husband several times that I'd like to begin studying Italian. Well, that never materialized, but I can consult MR. Google. Let's see how well he did. Stiamo progettando di vedere I'Italia un futuro prossimo. Giggle. Did I pick the right words for; We're planning to visit Italy as soon as possible? Some years ago I was visiting my native country of Romania. I hadn't met my husband by then, and I was alone. As I landed in Bucharest I got in line to go through customs. Long line and how I wished it would move faster. That is until three Italian men started conversing right in front of me. Ah, providence. Now I wished the line to move slower. It is a woman's prerogative to change her mind, no? Romanian language sounds very much like Italian, yet I was enchanted by the fluidity, and at the same time the cadence of the language. Bellissimo. Thank you, Kylie for awakening my memories with your beautiful lesson. I will check out your other videos on the subject. ❤️.

Also, find partners all over Italy and the world, to speak with, via Conversation Exchange. Since I started speaking Italian 5-6 x per week, my fluency has skyrocketed! As someone with no Italian heritage who is learning the language to move there, in the very beginner stages, what I'm looking for are educational conversations: conversations that are designed for clarity, so maybe this video wasn't made with beginners in mind, and more advanced speakers. But my focus isn't so much on listening for specific words, as it is listening to each word. Learning-speakers are listening for context, so quand'e ----- Italia? is what we are hearing, and then making a guess on the likely nature of the question. One thing that we really underestimate is how much we rely on context: we're meeting someone brand new for the first time, they will be asking basic questions. We're not fluent so we're picking out keywords. We are well trained on hearing "Italia" of course, and maybe "Da quand'e", but I don't believe people looking for contextual cues will be hoping for a specific word, so much as hoping that each word they hear is known / understandable. In that sense, the clearer each Italian phrase is, the easier it is for us to take the half-step of understanding Italian at a slower speed, and then eventually increase comprehension speed through repetition.

Thanks Kylie. I'm actually learning Italian --- so I can converse with the locals when I travel there soon. I believe to be able to immerse yourself in the culture --- learning the language is important and don't expect everyone to speak English. Japanese is next on the list :)
