Joseph, you have taken every so called radio controld rc tech , how to, and instructional video and blown them completely out of the water! You have set a new standard for the rest of the "PRO" racers to step there shit up., and have done more for technical side of RC than all others combined that I have seen since i got into nitro 20 years ago! Most of the guys will never understand the value and the effort this guy is giving to us. I did also study mechanical engineering with more classes about cars and all those things he is talking would have been an entire discipline, body roll, roll centre, geometry modification while body roll, C.G. etc etc. it's a very complex thing for a regular guy like me and for sure for most of you but exploring all the different geometries is what guys are being paid a lot in F1 cars. There are books only talking about these things and I'm not talking in R/c cars. So my last words would be many thanks for the incredible work you are doing and the time you need to spend on these videos.

Another great explanation. But you know I have questions. Scrub radius and offset turning moment - is the turning due to an actual turning of the wheel due to rc cars clearance in the joints which won't happen on real cars, or is it a force about a point which acts on the chassis in the horizontal plane ? And why is only the lower arm outer pivot used to calculate offset on the rear ? Does the top rear arm angle affect the Kyosho example of grip under brakes. loose mid corner and grip on acceleration ? I subscribed and looked at the book but exchange to NZ is really expensive? Really enjoying your videos.
@invisiblespeedrc Жыл бұрын
The turning moment is there on real cars too and will effect it the same

Great content Joseph! Question to complicate matters. Talking front end we know all this is static with 0 toe and no variation through the corners. But I would assume you can negate some effects you mentioned with bump. So you mentioned a PB car toeing in under braking, but in real world scenario you have weight transfer to front and front diving under said braking. Most pillow ball cars have a lot of bump out at top and bottom of stroke. So if the natural neutral tendency is to toe in, is the effect negated with a certain amount of bump out at the top of the stroke?
@invisiblespeedrc4 жыл бұрын
I think it can help to negate it, but I think the direction of the force still matters. Also I don’t understand the reason for large amounts of bump steer, in my opinion it makes things worse every time

Great video. Lots of good information. My curiosity wants to know why do you think that you don't see the Kyosho on the track as much as the other bands? Is it cost? Product support? Team support? Part's availability? For a brand that boasts many RC championship wins (15-20 years ago?) You don't see them that often as of late. I like the Kyosho... but what's going on with them?!
@j-1lokes2943 жыл бұрын
You are right. Buddy. I own a Mugen I feel that in the track. When you exit the corner can’t settle the front until I get corrected then I can accelerate. So I went toe in , but now I lost turn . Can’t make the car turn on power. Crazy what your saying it makes sense.

So by putting a narrow hex on the front of a pillow ball car, wouldn't that be increasing the negative scrub radius? It moves the center point of the contact patch even further away from the intersection of the steering axis, making the front end even more numb adding to that toe-out force?
@thetoddperspective4 жыл бұрын
I have ran hyper 7s for years and will be for the foreseeable future. I can run both front and rear either way. For me, hubs give me more steering and would be my preference except, I find balls to be more durable so I run them in front to assure that I finish the race.
