This is certainly a very haunting scent to me. I did not grow up with French classical perfumery so there's certainly no nostalgia. But something about it just works...it has an interesting pitch and tone that gets to me.

A joy to watch your review and appreciation for it! This Fall & winter will be my season of challenging myself, testing my nose with vanillas. I’ve added L’heure blue to the list. Can’t wait to give it a wear! Thx!

I know I’ve tried this and loved it…but can’t quite remember it! I’m in Paris next month where I will buy a bottle and re-create your walk on the Seine during “The Blue Hour” ❤️

Call it anemoia, nostalgia, melancholy, romanticism, but to me, if there was nought else, let it be only L'Heure Bleue.

Good morning, following your beautiful review that I watched a few times, I decided to make a blind purchase of L'heure bleu EDP. Because of the notes that I like so much, iris, violet, heliotrope, neroli, vanilla, tonka bean, and because of everything you said, I think I have a good chance of loving it. I'm a lover of Guerlain and Guerlinade and I think that for a lover this is iconic and necessary. Thank you!

@MemoryFlo Here in Brazil, we don't have a Guerlain boutique, only the official website that doesn't have L'heure bleu available, and I've never found a sample to try. Now a few minutes ago, I bought a sealed bottle on a website, it will arrive in a few days, when it arrives I'll tell you what I think! ❤️

@MemoryFlo Unfortunately there was a problem with the purchase and now I have to look for another one. Guerlain does not sell L'heure Bleue in Brazil so it is more difficult. If I find another one available I will let you know. ❤️

This is the first time I’ve encountered your channel. Thank you for your very interesting and in depth review of this beautiful, beautiful perfume. I adore L’ Heure Bleue in the extrait and EDP versions. It’s a deeply personal-feeling perfume, that I hope will always be in production. I’m so grateful that Thierry Wasser was able to restore LHB (source what was needed) when it was faltering years ago. Was it 2013? My favorite part of LHB is the Guerlinade, and how it envelops me during the dry down. I agree with you 100% that the Guerlinade in LHB is the best of all the Guerlain fragrances. I look forward to watching more of your reviews.

Thank you for reminding me of this beauty. I hadn’t smelt my EPD for a long time and it’s gorgeous. Almost chewy and definitely with a warm side, with the clove, musk and vanilla. I want to smell the extrait now to get the OB, tonka and jasmine facets 🙏

Hello MemoryFlo, it is always a pleasure to watch your video. I was deeply moved by your review of l'Heure Bleue as it echoes my feeling for this fragrance. It took me time to appreciate it as at the beginning, I felt it was a bit old lady scent. I feel that one needed to be more mature / confident enough in their own skin to pull this one off. This by far the Guerlain scent I own the most bottles of, 6 bottles in different concentrations / formulations (followed by Samsara). As I watched you, I decided to dab a bit of my vintage L'Heure Bleue extrait. It is an amphora bottle (probably from the 50-60's). With time the juice is so much better. The vanilla is just amazing. This scent is dense, dark but at the same time so comforting and sparkling. It is filled with contradictions

Oh, that sounds decadent. I’d love to get my hands on a more aged bottle, the darker the better

hello, i love your reviews and how you can reference certain notes between other releases. You actually made me to order Shalimar Jasmin haha. But what I want to ask you, from these Guerlain classics, even they are timeless classics I would like you to recommend me those that can can be still used today and NOT be perceived as 'old' or 'old fashioned'. For me some scents from the current male collection for sure come across already like that. I am very open minded and consider most of the scents unisex. I can wear iris, jasmin, neroli, oud, rose, ylan-ylan... I have (from Guerlain) scents from La Matiere, AA, Orient and some masculine ones and once I like something I will wear it. Also, dont you think Jelk came to Guerlain to bring some fresh air and more modern apporach, as Wasser was maybe too classical? I love them both and it could be a good thing for Guerlain that they can influence each other or 'control', if some releases would be too 'old fashioned' or just too 'experimantal' :P

Thank you for the appreciation. To start with the Jelk/Wasser thing, i suppose Jelk is going to replace Wasser in time. No such distinction between classical or modern can be made, as Guerlain have always embraced modernity while remaining faithful to the classical way of doing perfumery. Their most modern scents can be found in the Absolus Allegoria line, they are more in line with current tastes. And this has always been the case both under Wasser and now under Jelk. Which brings me to the first topic. It is impossible for me to say which fragrances might be considered “old-fashioned” as simply put, all Guerlain creations, old or new, are too far removed from today’s way of making perfumery: heavy, obnoxious molecules with tons of staying power and none of the subtlety. I turned to Guerlain especially for the classical approach, therefore i can wear something like Jicky or Vol de Nuit and consider it beyond contemporary, that is to say, timeless. All there is to do is try them, one by one, and decide for yourself whats suits and what doesn’t. For me, i found, that tastes can be educated and they can change. Hope this helps

@@MemoryFlo Actually after watching Nahema review I came to this question as you called it 'old smelling', we can say maybe Nahema haven't aged so well and majority would call it 'old' and that is OK. That is why I was thinking if you can give me perhaps 3 tips (for the start) from LES LÉGENDAIRES EDPs that i can try without being accused of smelling as grandma!
@MemoryFlo
@MemoryFlo 20 күн бұрын
Oh you’re right! Nahema, i keep forgetting about her. There’s also Jardins de Bagatelle who i could consider old but then smelled Fleurs d’Oranger by Serge Lutens and they’re so similar! Everything is relative and tastes and perception
