La Brea Tar Pits || Exploring Los Angeles || Episode 9

Have you heard of the La Brea Tar Pits? Did you know they were right in urban Los Angeles? Somehow I missed that part... until I went to see them for myself!
The tar pits are in Hancock Park and are an active research site. The fossils that recovered there provide a record of the animals that have lived in this area for the last 50,000 years.
While in the area, we also visit the Original Farmers Market. The Original Farmers Market is a historical location that is home to many different shops, restaurants, food stalls, and grocers.
This video was filmed in Fall 2022 and I am just now posting it. So, if you see a small bit of Fall décor and hear a few comments about it being pumpkin ice cream season that's why. I mean, isn't it always pumpkin ice cream season though?

I need to point out, having lived for 17 years in Park LaBrea - across the street from the tar pits - that Wilshire Boulevard is pronounced WILL-shur, not will-SHYER. There will be a lot of L.A. names that will trip you up…that you will need to learn, before you go on a guided tour… La Cienega, for instance… pronounced LA see-YEN-uh-guh And Los Feliz… pronounced LOWS FEEL-is I like watching your vlogs because sometimes I get homesick for L.A.❤
