@@JenniferBeestonI think that the Los Angeles voters should recall the Los Angeles Mayor Bass and replace her with a Republican mayor who can get the proper funding for the Los Angeles fire department immediately and get that empty reservoir repaired immediately and filled up with one hundred and seventeen gallons of water and have the fire department run test on all the the fire hydrants throughout the entire hydrant system to make sure that all of them are functioning properly.

With the speed the fire in Palisades and Altadena spread, it would have required a lot more resources and manpower to deal with it. The best protection is to make your house fireproof. A fire chief I saw said that the fire departments they have are not designed to fight these wildfires but mostly to deal with housefires . The scope of last weeks fires was really apocalyptic. The airplanes and helicopters designed to fight the fires couldnt be used because of the strong winds. Unfortunately this will probably happen again because the santa winds are not going away and the planet is still getting warmer.
@JenniferBeeston7 күн бұрын
More resources and manpower are key. The same thing happened with the Tubbs fire so it is not unprecedented which is what is frustrating. What happened in the palisades has been a risk for years and they had already seen what can occur with Tubbs so one would assume they would be learning from history. They need a game plan and yes more fireproof structures need to be part of it. Check this out on Tubbs en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tubbs_Fire

The horedous fire conditions experience with a long drought and extremely low humidity hurricane force winds is a CATASTROPHIC fire situation in which the fire is unstoppable even with a million fire fighters and unlimited high pressure water.
@JenniferBeeston7 күн бұрын
I don’t think you can really say that because it’s not like there was unlimited water, water, pressure, enough firefighters… The list goes on and on, and every single day is something more ridiculous is coming out about how unprepared the county was, And for that matter the state.
@moa30087 күн бұрын
There’s an empty reservoir that’s been empty since last February and the tools to fix the problem were not there yet and if it was online with 117 million gallons of water and if all the fire trucks were ready for action; the firefighters would have been able to stop the wildfires from burning down most if not all of the buildings, residential and commercial properties.

Florida
@dry5098 күн бұрын
So how do you rationalize living with the risks there vs California. We have visited Florida many times and have contemplated moving there. We are still hesitating due to risks and by the way we live in Houston Texas, right now, which also is risky due to hurricanes and freezes and floods, and has high insurance. I have lived in Southern California a couple of times and the weather there is so much better than Texas or Florida.
@JenniferBeeston8 күн бұрын
@@dry509I moved to Florida for a variety of reasons and yes it has huge climate risks as well. With a hurricane you get a heads up whereas with a fire there is no heads up. Yes California weather is better but on my situation we left based on a combo of taxes and politics and weather risk. Florida fits us better. Florida is very pro business and my husband has a business. I am very pro police and military as is Florida. Florida is also closer to where my son is in school. They just banned lab grown meat in Florida which I agree with. I believe in protecting American farmers and ranchers. There are a 100+ reasons why moving may or may not make sense you just have to figure out the priorities you have as well as the math. I don’t think California is a terrible place. I still have a house there. I think long term it could change and I am hopeful it goes back to be the California I knew and not what has occurred in the last few years

Step # 1 stop your neighbors from rebuilding there homes unless 50% of the structure is non-flammable, (the future of water supply long term for the State of California and other area's of the USA is far from certain) this mean's no more homes dominantly made from wood, I know how controversial this sounds, but we live in radical times now, both politically and environmentally.

There are zero low takes and no misinformation in this video at all. Shame on you for trying to deny the reality of the situation. Over 7500 homeowners have lost their houses. Take a minute to ask yourself, are you seriously trying to shame me because I told people to make sure that their local politicians have a fire plan? Seriously? So questioning our politicians is shameful? We live in a democracy and a free country. It is a citizens right and duty to make sure that their politicians are acting in the citizens best interest. We live in America 🇺🇸 Also, if you actually watched the video, you would know that I lived in California until two years ago, still have a property there, have counseled hundreds of homeowners in the last 15 years over how to handle losing a house to fire and my sister is personally affected by the fires
