They could also invest in removing the salt from salt water, that way we can water a lot trees and what ever needs cities need. But CA politicians don't wish to do that. They want these plants that don't require a lot of water, tax incentives for that, and you get fined for use of too much water. You legally are not supposed to be watering your lawn.

We also do controlled burns here. I remember reading somewhere that some parts of California are like tinder boxes. Seems certain zones were being developed and inhabited that shouldn't in high risk wildfire areas. Can only imagine 🤑🤑🤑 It was the state's responsiblity to remove wildfire "fuel" fallen trees etc, as well.

I’m Australian so I am very familiar with bushfires or wildfires I think you call them. I hope they can be contained quickly. My prayers are with everyone impacted that they are safe. We also had this problem with a green policy of not clearing undergrowth which had devastating results. Fortunately I think now they have learnt their lesson but sometimes there is nothing that can prevent them occurring.

And then you have issues with fire hydrants not providing enough pressure for fire fighters to put out fires. I can go on. Basically the city was not prepared for this. Who's to blame? I really felt like we were going to see a change after that. But we didn't. Larry Elder lost. Ric Caruso lost. This is what I am saying. Larry has since then spoken to a lot of Californians to see how he can change his message that would help him. You want to know what they say to him? Well, they don't know why they v for Gavin Newsom, their isn't any particular policy of his they support, they DON'T know of any of his policies, they don't like his improvements or where he has taken the state since then, but, don't want a nonDem. But maybe you can discuss your choice of music more. Keep in mind we're talking about the governorship, it's duties, and a lot of problems we have, they want him to discuss what he listens on the radio more, for his next run????? This is why, I stand where I stand. They have lost everything, and yet I am not expecting anything positive to come from this, like a red w or anything. I'm expecting more of a, "Cuomo to Hocul", kind of a thing.

Chris, if you read any of these, steer clear of Nashville. I know why everyone wants to go to Nashville, but it's the second worst city in TN. If you need to be in or near a metro area, the Knoxville area is way better than Nashville or go to Clarksville since that gets you near Nashville but gets you close to other good cities like Murfreesboro or even Bowling Green.

To get a job there you need a state ID and you can't get it without proof of residency in the state. So my question is where do people go, if they don't have this stuff? If someone just has cash, how do they move there?

@ you don’t need a TN ID to get a job here. They do ask if you are an American citizen you need any ID most likely two forms of ID but that’s also every job not under the table. You do need to find a job usually before moving here because you need proof of income for living that’s anywhere so not just TN.

George Lucas wasn't getting divorced during production of 'The Empire Strikes Back' in 1979-80. He gave Irvin Kershner huge freedom to direct because 1) George was too busy moving ILM to new premises and overseeing the expansion of Lucasfilm, 2) he didn't want to direct again after the 1977 film nearly killed him, and 3) he trusted both Kershner and producer Gary Kurtz to get on with things. The trouble is that Kershner was very slow and meticulous in detail, plus there were unforeseen delays that pushed them six weeks behind schedule and forced Lucas to get a new loan from the Bank of Boston to refinance the movie to completion. George blamed Kurtz for not reigning in Kershner more... and Kurtz left not long after - early 1981 - when he saw what George was planning with 'Return of the Jedi' (Ewoks, another Death Star, Leia being Luke's sister, etc). Richard Marquand was hired because George really liked his 1981 WWII thriller 'Eye of the Needle' but I agree with Gary that Marquand ultimately was picked because as a less-established director, he was more *controllable* than Kershner and George didn't want a repeat of the profligate 'Empire' shoot. The runner-up to direct 'Jedi' was Lamont Johnson, a very experienced and very good dramatic director who had helmed some terrific original 'Twilight Zone' episodes in addition to the 1973 NASCAR drama 'The Last American Hero' which George was a huge fan of. Johnson, as a much more experienced and arguably more proficient director than Marquand, would have made for a far better choice... but less controllable, which is probably why he didn't get the gig, I believe. BTW, it was during post-production on 'Jedi' that Marcia Lucas asked George for a divorce. He had spent so much time away from Marcia, on the set of 'Jedi', that she ended up falling in love with Skywalker Ranch's interior designer... whom she went on to marry after divorcing George (who was utterly heartbroken) and walking away with a reported $80 million settlement... that's $253 million in 2025 dollars! In terms of the prequels, I have no issue with the broad trilogy story arc... it wasn't the ideas, it was the execution. That being said, 'Revenge of the Sith' is definitely better than 'Return of the Jedi'. Hail the Fellowship and hail Chris 'gay as cucumber sandwiches' Gore!!!

Insurance isn't that complicated from a bird's eye view. If 1000 houses pay $6000 a year for 50 years, that's $300 million to pay out claims and admin. If every 50 years there's a $1 billion damages fire, then the math ain't mathing and your options are either no fire coverage or pay $20k annual insurance premiums.

My headcannon for the prequel movies was based upon the 1000 yard stare obi wan had talking about the clone wars. In my mind I saw them as almost horror movies where clones infiltrated and replaced important people, massive armies of clones attacked the normal beings in the galaxy, and the jedi failing to allow Anakin to save the people he loved causing his fall to the dark side. Obi Wan would have been part of a Jedi Force that came to save Anakin's home planet and would have sensed a particularly skilled fighter pilot using the force to help himself survice the onslaught of the clone fleet. After being plucked for training by the Jedi and rhe conflict stretching on for years (allowing their camaraderie to grow over time) Anakin's home planet was attacked again and the Jedi bad to choose between two different planets to save and they left Anakin's planet to be deatroyed which caused his downfall and anger at the Jedi.
