Worst ending...ever. When you start a film, you show the audience what the movie is about, what to expect, what to think. La La Land starts out with the most energetic, exuberant musucal number ine can imagine. We expect a rocky start, a falling in love, a parting, regrets, bittersweet feelings. But...we know it's going to end well. Even 'City of Stars' says it; "a voice that says I'm here, and you'll be alright." Except, it doesn't. Look, Damien admits he's not an extrovert, he's not comfortable around strangers, he's had his heart broken. So? This is not your life story, Mr. Chazelle. You sell your audience one thing, then you smash an unhappy, awkward ending right into your audience's face. Not nice, not good, not effective, not...fair.

I guess your against from happy endings, but guess what? your opinion is one sided, Damien Chazelle presents this as a love story and a love letter to LA, to be saying that the ending is "not fair" is exactly the point, we feel for the characters and the plot and that twist (or shocking) ending leaves us the audience an ambigious choice of "did they really start a family or is it just a fantasy/alternate scene". And I think to say that you stated the ending as "bad" is off-putting, don't hold your grudge man, I think because you've loved the first and second act so much the third act just threw you off like a punching bag, but we really don't know if they end up as a couple or not and it doesn't really matter, many films have the same endings such as this where it leaves you with dead air. And to me personally, the ending is beautiful.

@@BobBob73271 LOL. Many, many, many people have commented on the horrible ending. In fact, he had trouble raising the funds nesessary to make the film due to the abominable ending. The opening number, 'Another Day of Sun' promised a fun, happy ending film, not a depressing durge. Damien blew it. 100%
