Goopy and pasty was what I also thought about the texture of LRP Baume B5. I did not find it hydrating or moisturizing whatsoever, but it did help heal patches of irritation. My favorite product for irritation is the Etude House Soon Jung Cica Balm, but I will still try the Cerave Ointment next time since it's so easy to find. Thanks for the comparison!

I am pretty obsessed with both of these products. To manage my skin condition on my legs I will use the CeraVe moisturizing cream on my spots and I like to use a “topper” something that is extra moisturizing and a bit occlusive. I was using the CeraVe ointment for that AM and PM but the ointment can feel uncomfortable so I started using the LRP baume in the morning. I also use the LRP baume on my cheeks and upper chest and it pretty much instantly gets rid of any redness, also I put some on my elbows as a maintenance step as that is another body site my skin condition likes to pop up. I do wish the LRP was available in a larger size. The CeraVe hand cream you mention is also in my aresenal. I do like it but I prefer the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula which I use at the end of my AM skin care routine and right before bed. My go to hand moisturizer during the day is the Biossance squalane and omega repair hand cream. My hands have never been softer. If you haven’t tried the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula it is almost like a hybrid between the LRP baume and CeraVe ointment.

CeraVe for the win for me, I have to use it around and undrr my eyes every night because of water loss and dryness, the balm is not strong enough for my dryness so if you have very dry areas, use the CeraVe and it's cheaper by 5-6 dollars and lasts much longer. That's the only issue I have with it other than that it's amazing matte finish and gives extra moisture but not enough.

Thank you Abbey! Your skin looks fab. I have tried the Avene cica & the two la roche cicaplast. the gel & balm. I also use the toleraine creams & fluid. I recently had a retinol issue. Used it to many days in a row. Couldn't use cerave or toleriane or the la roche cica gel. they all stung, especially the cerave. The only one I could use was the la roche b5 cica balm. soothing, hydrating & healing , used along with silver gel which was all I had (at first) that wouldnt sting. but I then found a sample of the b5 balm in a stash and that was a the perfect addition. along with rosehip oil & ice packs. By the end of the week not only was my skin healing quickly but it looked somehow better than before the reaction. That being said, when I looked into the ingredients what I do like about la roche is that the first few ingredients are the important ones, unlike cerave. I think they both have their place. But wanted to add this incase anyone has extremely sensitive skin or a skin mishap. Cerave's first 5 ingredients (Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Ozokerite, Dimethicone) are maybe why you like the feel/ texture over the la roche. But when your skin is in desperate need, super sensitive, you will want to look at the first 5 ingredients above feel & texture. La roche inci: AQUA, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER, PANTHENOL. This made all the difference for me. On a regular week, I will be alternating with cerave because of the price point & texture thanks to this video. But when I use retinol, the next morning I will use the la roche cica balm b5. Even when I don't have any irritation, just because I know that retinol is quite strong and to give the skin some more potent healing & reparative ingredients. I have never had a skin issue & never want to. Cerave is a great alternative. Thank you! I also highly recommend using ice packs during the summer or if you are using retinol or other strong actives. You get faster & better results. The power of ice! CERAVE full inci: Petrolatum, Mineral Oil, Paraffin, Ozokerite, Dimethicone, Ceramide Np, Ceramide Ap, Ceramide Eop, Carbomer, Water, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Proline, Cholesterol, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, Pantolactone, Phytosphingosine, Xanthan Gum, Ethylhexylglycerin. LA ROCHE full inci: AQUA, HYDROGENATED POLYISOBUTENE, DIMETHICONE, GLYCERIN, BUTYROSPERMUM PARKII BUTTER, PANTHENOL, PROPANEDIOL, BUTYLENE GLYCOL, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, CETYL PEG/PPG-10/1 DIMETHICONE, TRIHYDROXYSTEARIN, CI 77891, TOCOPHEROL, MADECASSOSIDE, ACETYLATED GLYCOL STEARATE, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, POLYGLYCERYL-4 ISOSTEARATE, SILICA, MANGANESE GLUCONATE, ZINC GLUCONATE, PENTAERYTHRITYL TETRA-DI-T-BUTYL HYDROXYHYDROCINNAMATE, CAPRYLOYL GLYCINE, COPPER GLUCONATE, DISODIUM EDTA, CITRIC ACID, ALUMINUM HYDROXIDE

I stopped all actives and just went back to basics, cleanse, moisturize and SPF with the healing ointment at night. I’m slowly going back to reintroducing actives and my tret after healing my skin. Do you know if the LRP is to occlusive to use as a moisturizer after using tret?

I know this is a very old comment, but I’m confused. I’d like to try and use Cerave with tret. Can I ask you what you mean by that when you say you ruined your barrier using the healing ointment over tret? You applied tret, then the healing ointment and that ruined your barrier? 🤔 would love to hear from you. 🙏🏼
@allison_may2 жыл бұрын
@@danielagentile8049 No problem! But yes! Since the healing ointment is petrolatum based and super occlusive, layering this over tret just occluded the tret forcing it to penetrate deeper. Over several weeks, my skin was really flaky, peeling and red. Anything but water hurt to put on my face. I had been using tret daily for over a year at this point as well. I stopped using tret and all other actives and focused on fixing my skin barrier. I reintroduced tret without putting the ointment over too and just used regular moisturizer. If I ever want to use the healing ointment, I just skip using any actives that night. This is just my personal experience. I’m sure there’s people out there who have success in layering the two, but it just doesn’t work for my skin. Hope this helps!

Hi Abbey! Hi, I’ve been purchasing the cerave healing ointment in the teeny twin pack .035 oz chap stik size but it’s become impossible to find lately. I only bought this size because I’ve read so many reviews of how hard it is to push the thick product out of the larger (1.89, 3 & 5 oz) tubes and I don’t want to buy the tub. I was wondering if you’ve had any issues getting the product to easily dispense out of the tube without really having to put a lot of elbow grease into getting it out. (I have fibromyalgia, so I can’t squeeze very hard.) I’ve read some people complain that they had to squeeze so hard that the top of the dispenser actually cracked. Has this ever happened to you and if so, which size do you think is the easiest one to dispense product from? My guess would be the smallest 1.89 oz one, but it’s also as expensive as the 3 oz l one. Thank you so much!

I have the Cerave one - I got it when my dermatitis got really bad and I felt like my skin wasn’t holding any moisture. I like it, but I agree about the shininess😂 Great video!!

I have eczema and I agree that CeraVe Healing isn't always enough, but I use it because of the healing ingredients. Try mixing it with 100% petroleum, like Vaseline, for a true occlusive. I also mix in the La Roche Posay B5.

I got that when it came out, nice so far but does not glide as easily as they claim...it pulls skin quite a bit when swiping :/

Can I use the LRP Baume around my eyes. I’ve tried every moisturizer eye creams and nothing actually helps the dry skin I have there.

Goodness, Abbey, I'm distracted by those candles that look exactly like twin male privates behind you! EEK, what's with dat? Great vid otherwise! I use Cerave Healing on lips every nite & it works so well!

S Weintraub I think about that every video!!! Haha

I’m a little confused by these comments. It’s a double ended candle so not sure how that’s translating like that. This design is everywhere though and I love it
