Just a few points to make about how to adjust your La-Z-Boy chair to keep the back tight or loose depending on what you like. I also explain why some times the footrest might release out of the blue. And what to do about it. Ps. not all La-Z-Boy chair have the adjustments.

Out of curiosity, how much movement can be expected from the chair when it is locked into position with the footrest up? Should it be absolutely rock solid, or is some slight movement normal?

Great video! Thank you! I have recliner that I can’t push the foot rest in. I turned it upside down,1 of the springs had came off. I put it back where the other one was and still can’t close it. It’s not even a year old. It’s driving me nuts! Do you have Any advice or recommendations before I throw it in the front yard?😂

what can I do when just sitting with the back up in normal postition but leans too far back like a rocking chair and the back has not moved and my feet dont touch the floor ? I want it to remain more up right so my feet dont hang in the air when just sitting normally; not leaning back.

There are no official ways to fix that problem, but I will look at the chair and see if there is a work around and post it here in a couple of days. Ps I know of way to lean it forward but I don't know if one should alter the chair in such ways.

The recliner handle is hard for my Mom to pull back - any way to make it easier?
@fromcarstocomputers7261
@fromcarstocomputers7261 4 жыл бұрын
Not really a fix for that other than extending the length of the handle a couple of inches. Now you might be able to purchase a longer handle from the dealer. Just make sure the new longer handle will not stick out so far that interferes with anything.

What do you do if the handle is too stiff and won't hardly turn to get the chair to go back? When reclined, the handle is even harder to turn to get the chair down! What's the fix for that?
@fromcarstocomputers7261
@fromcarstocomputers7261 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like something is bent. remove the back rest part of the chair then flip the chair over and look for anything abnormal and try to re-Aline it. also move the handle while the chair is still upside down and try and find tight areas ( remember that you have to let the foot rest go all the way out before it will let back in ) You could put a couple drops of 3M oil on stiff areas ( in the old day some people called it sewing machine oil ) but also know that extra oil could drip onto your floor once you turn the chair back over.

Both footrests on my couch are stuck in the up position, it sounds like the arm hits a horizontal metal bar of the couch at the bottom when I try to shove them back down (which takes a Ton of effort to do, I have to violently "knee" them back to be perpendicular to the floor). It DID seem to feel less wrong when I shoved a book under the arm column of the couch away from the footrest mechanism, so I'm thinking it has something to do with that though I don't know why. The pull "lever" on the side of the armrests seems to do nothing. It sounds dumb, but it is actually pretty distressing as you can't really use the couch. I don't think I've ever sat on it in a year because of the footrests being stuck up and the backs being reclined as a result.

Lay z boy recliners have a limited warranty for several of their products’ mechanical parts - including reclining mechanisms are covered. But here is the catch, only the person who originally purchased the recliner from an authorized dealer is covered, and they would charge for labor cost. With that being said that means there is a good chance that the dealer can still get the part you need for the chair find the tag and take a picture of it as it will have the information they would need to order the part. ( the tag is about 3 x 6 inches and can be found under the foot rest on the front of the chair ) If I had the same model I could make a video to show you how to repair it but trying to explain it in a message would be very hard to do. Your model may have only had one line, if the 'line' is stiff then it would be more of a small bar and may be normal. you could send a photo of it to you local dealer and ask them if that is normal. I know this is not much help but it is about all I can do.

At 3:40, you may notice a butterfly adjustment. You will need to turn that about 1 whole turn counter-clockwise ( do this on both sides ) then test it until it is where you want it to be.

After doing business with La-Z-Boy for decades and have been happy with my purchases I really got screwed over on this last purchase where I spent over $3500 on a sofa and a rocker recliner. The sofa is hard as a rock and will not soften up and it has been almost a year since this purchase. The rocker recliner seams don’t match up with the creases and it feels like I’m sitting on ropes also the base cracked. They did come out to fix the chair since they won’t replace it and even bought a new base to you place it. Did the install. Hell no! The glued what broke. It didnt do anything. Now the other side cracked.I started complaining the second day after delivery when I noticed these problems. All they have been doing is giving me the runaround. After the two week window was up on exchanges and returns they called me the day after and told me if I wanted to exchange the furniture I would have to pay a 30% restock fee, have them come and pick up the furniture now and then wait three months for the new furniture. It’s not like I changed my mind, it is that the sofa and the chair is of poor quality. What I sat on in the show room is totally different than what got delivered. I spent hours in the show room to make sure I picked out the perfect furniture for me. Lazy boy are liars, they talk down to you and sell junk now. I will never ever do business with lazy boy again. Save your money, time and aggravation and go somewhere else for your furniture.

See that couch in the background of this video? It is a Lazy-boy I Purchased over 10 years ago. I have not sat in it over 10 hours. I was going to get the new couch then get rid of my old one, I still use my old one. The Lazy-boy chair in this video was my mothers and she had it for 30 years and now I have had it for about a year and have used it more than the Lazy-boy couch. You get the idea.

@@fromcarstocomputers7261 - the sofa and chair I got at Lazboy lasted 10 years before I felt it needed replacing. I gave the sofa away but kept the rocker recliner in spare room. Even though the chair is worn out it is still more comfortable than what I just bought.If I had more room I would have kept the sofa too. I was very happy with that purchase 10 years ago. I didnt read reviews this time because I have always been happy with Lazboy. After all the problems with this purchase I decided to check reviews and found out that this and other problems has happened to thousands of people. They try to squeeze more money out of their customers. I will shout from the roof tops about getting screwed over by Lazboy.

Mine reclines the foot and I can push back but it doesn't stay back, it sits back up. It like pushes me forward, just the back, not the foot. That foot part goes up, but the back won't stay reclined, if I move one inch it pushes me up.

Look at the feet of it and make sure that they are not pulling apart. You can re-glue it or use a 1 1/2 to 2 inch long wood screw ( Sheetrock screw ) after you drill out for it and or course there are other things that can course the pop as well, but this is one that gets overlooked

This happened to almost all products ( the idea of making things to break in order to sell another ) started around 100 years ago but back then they knew that people would not buy things that did not last a long time so the companies had to slowing bring the quality down. but the big drop in quality came around the start of the 1980's. Now as for the chair. the design of this chairs parts has been around for a long time, in fact the chair in the video is over 35 years old. but yes it happens to me all the time. I will open up something to work on it and noticed first thing where the product was made with weak points in it. now one could say they do that to save money and although that could be some of it there are times when I will see parts that it would be cheaper and easier to build if they made a few changes. but then the product would last 3 times as long. so that tells me why it was made that way.
