01:59 - 05:20 California state’s minimum wage: Effective 1/1/23, CA state minimum wage increased to $15.50/hour for all employers regardless of employer size.
05:21 - 07:40 Exempt employee salary updates: There’s an increase in the minimum salary for administrative, executive, and professional exemptions to $5,377.33 per month ($64,480 annually) assuming the individual meets the applicable “duties” test. Exempt computer professionals are paid at least $112,065.20 per year, $9,338.78 per month, or $53.80 per hour, and meeting the applicable “duties” test.
07:41 - 15:00 Pay transparency (SB 1162) applies to ALL employers upon applicant’s and current employee’s requests, effective 1/1/2023.
15:01 - 16:09 Bereavement Leave (AB 1949) applies to employers with 5+ employees. Employers must allow 5 days of leave upon the death of a family member (unpaid leave).
16:10 - 18:10 California Family Rights Act Expansion (AB 1041) applies to employers with 5+ employees. CFRA has been updated to allow to use of CFRA leave to care for a “Designated Person.” Employers may limit employees to one “Designated Person” per 12-month period for CFRA leave. Employers must retain records.
18:11 - 19:57 Paid sick leave expansion (AB 1041) applies to ALL CA employers. “Designated Person” is “a person identified by the employee at the time the employee requests paid sick leave.” This is different than the CFRA definition.
19:58 - 24:29 COVID-19 Legislation and Supplemental Paid Sick Leave (SPSL).
24:30 - 25:25 COVID-19 exposure notices (AB 2693): Continue providing notification of potential COVID-19 exposure in the workplace through 1/1/2024.
25:26 - 29:23 Non-emergency COVID-19 prevention regulations.
29:25 - 31:29 Wage and Hour practice and policy updates.
31:30 - 32:40 Reproductive health decision-making (SB 523)
32:41 - 34:12 Emergency conditions (SB 1044)
34:13 - 35:08 Mandatory retirement savings plan amendment (SB 1126) for co with 1+ employees. Employees may register at www.calsavers.com
35:09 - 35:50 Employee restroom access to members of the public with certain medical conditions (AB 1632)
35:51 - 36:58 Motor vehicle tracking (AB 984) requires the DMV to allow vehicle location technology (GPS tracking) on fleet vehicles, prohibits employers from using the devices to monitor employees except during work hours, and only if strictly necessary for the performance of an employee's duties. Employers that install tracking devices on vehicles must provide notice of the monitoring that includes information about employees' right to disable the devices during non-work hours.

The minimum wage increases and pay transparency requirements are game-changers. I'm particularly interested in the new restrictions on employee vehicle tracking. This is a huge win for employee privacy. Great work.
