They can't. Maritime law prevents it. We can't touch them when they are in French waters. As soon as they reach our waters we have to 'rescue' them and bring them to shore. Then they claim asylum and a whole new set of international laws kick in and we have to care for them until their applications are processed. If there was any other way don't you think the Tories would have done it years ago. Starmer has kicked out Rwanda but is looking at the same kind of system in Albania. I know of a guy who came to uk as an asylum seekers 20 years ago when he was 20, got his citizenship, kept returning to Afghanistan to marry, had 5 kids (under Taliban rule), and recently brought them here. We're now paying him housing benefits, council tax benefit, child benefits, tax credits, and universal credit. Plus free school meals, free dentist, and prescription treatment, including NHS treatments, plus Winter Fuel Payment! This is justice??????

The only thing that will stop the boats is to make a new law that says the benefits system is only payable to British citizens paid out by British taxpayers! Having said that the benefits system is in need of an overhaul, once illegal Economic Migrants realise there is no British money for them or a roof over their heads to be given to them then they will have to stay in the country they arrived in and they probably won't stay there very long either because they don't pay regular benefits out themselves. All other countries recognise that Britain's benefits system is the real problem for illegals passing through their territory to the French coast !!!

I like the idea of working with our "partners" in Europe. They can't wait to wave goodbye to the problem, yet to see the mayor of Calais begging for the migrants to return.
