I understand and agree with what you're saying, but the family if they didn't know didn't do anything, and also unfortunately many sexual abusers also abuse family members, so if you're in that situation it's just a double whammy. 😕 I don't think anyone would want to be judged on the worst decisions any family member made, especially if it was something as heinous as this.

@@killjoyneonashes5736 I'm not sure what your point is. The point is the man in the video was saying he feels guilty for catching guys with families ... why should he feel guilty? he didn't commit any crime ... the people he caught did. you don't get my comment. it has nothing to do with the situation the family members find themselves in afterwards. And yeah they shouldn't be tarred with that brush either. But the person who put them there is the one who wanted to commit horrible acts not the guy who caught the bad guy.

I used to work with SO's (sexual offenders) as well as murderers, thieves etc. and by far the paedophiles were the worst of the bunch. They weren't remorseful, remained in denial, lied and connived, and all of them were re-offenders. We had a guy who would go out at 8am and come back at 3pm, tell us he's "been at a mates" or was shopping all day, when in reality he'd sit outside of schools. We couldn't do anything (both literally and by law) as they were allowed outside unrestricted (besides school premises ofc). Vile creatures, and I went in open minded for the record, thinking these people could be rehabilitated.

"they're underfunded and understaffed" is mostly propaganda. What they are is busy with useless crap to keep normal people in line, generate revenue, and create certain narratives and public images. Of course there are plenty of officers who would go after these guys, but the issue isn't that every officer is a bad person, it's that they are in a bad system (and unfortunately are invested in defending that system). People who value law and order should be the most skeptical of police and the judicial system.

Paedophilia is worse than murder, imo. There are sometimes very good reasons for taking the life of another person but there's _never_ an excuse to do bad things to a child. Both crimes result in a life being destroyed but the child has to carry that trauma which often results in self deletion, addiction, homelessness, mental illness etc.

@@brendanm6921 Also, many so-called paedophile hunters (such as Stinson Hunter) initially post as adults on adult dating websites and use a bait-and-switch technique, revealing a decoy age that is only a year or so below the age of consent (biologically and statistically normal attraction). This isn't to excuse the actions of the people who are caught, but it does mean that the people caught are mainly stupid opportunists and that police resources are having to be shifted away from horrific CSA perpetrated against very young children to these less serious cases. In my eyes, that makes paedophile hunters part of the problem.

I think one of the few things society can come together to agree on is that once somebody harms a child, theuve crossed a line where theres no return. Paradoxically I wish things were a bit different to how they are now regarding stigmas and mental health, so that people who havent comitted such a heinous crime but have had intrusive thoughts or something that might lead towards that end can get help more easily. It might reduce this fellas workload and protect a few kids but I dont know if itll really do that much good. Its a strange paradox with an issue that simultaneously is kept in the shadows while simultaneously dragged into the harsh light of day.

We once had a speaker at my university who worked specifically on child abuse cases. At the time he was leading a team, but had already worked on pretty much every position within the team. He told us that the people involved in this type of work, especially those who have to go through evidence (from chat logs to photos) have to take breaks to watch standard, vanilla p****graphy every few hours, otherwise the time spent looking at photos of children in those scenarios can be so traumatizing they can't lead normal sexual lives. It's like those war vets who get PTSD from fireworks, but instead you're looking at your pertner before doing the deed and all you can remember are the children. I can't even begin to imagine what that's like, and I hope I never do.

That shit sticks in your mind, so it doesn't take a psych degree to see how viewing material that traumatic would cause flashbacks to occur, especially during irl sexual activity. Anything like a position or dirty talk phrase could trigger a memory of the cp and suddenly your partners face is that of one of the victims in your mind. 9:33 I remember an ex-convict KZbinr, @JessicaKent , who said something really lucid about this: "it is possible to explain a murder. It is not possible to explain the s3xu4l abuse of a child" (probably not her exact words but something similar) To give some context to the comment, she was talking about the social dynamics inside prisons, where a person can have a story, perhaps even a true story, that justifies even if morally the attack on a abuser spouse, or the attacker of a loved one, a situation of life or death, etc. There may even be more complex reasons that have to do with the perpetrator's circumstances and past. Of course only a fraction of murders can be explained this way, but absolutely NO attack on a child can be explained in ANY way in ANY case. Taking this into account, my opinion - very personal and certainly not an expert one - is that child abuse should have a *higher* penalty than murder, given also that in certain cases the person guilty of murder may not commit another crime in his life, but a offender pedophile will ALWAYS reoffend.

It's best not to think about it. I got a court letter one year saying that the film and photographs of my abuse were found digitized in someone's collection, and they were made sixty years ago. If someone hasn't already processed it and healed from the trauma such a letter could be devastating. If you should ever find out that your trauma was seen, take comfort in the fact that at least it prevented someone else from being hurt because they were caught.

According to leading expert Michael Seto (who studied CP for his 2014 and 2024 books), 90% of CP on the net and dark web is old material (from decades past) posted by the FBI to entrap users. It's a way of catching the 'low-hanging fruit' so as to boost arrest and conviction rates and make law enforcement teams look good, and it's even easier to do now that these images are catalogued by hashes. So anyone featuring in CP from pre-Internet days is more likely to crop up in cases today than people who have featured in more recent CP, which hasn't yet been catalogued and ploughed into the FBI's repertoire, so to speak.

Soooooo you're going to contact every single police station in the entire country and demand that they take a note, that they are never to send you a letter concerning your abuse!? police stations don't even have opt out notices! you would have to demand that every single one of them make one, then incorporate it into their means of work. I swear, when will you all realize that real life is NOT the internet; It doesn't function as the internet and there is no check box to opt out of life.

@@mellie4174 There's no need to be hysterical. It's a perfectly sensible question. Firstly, I'm of the understanding that the letters are sent by the Crown Prosecution Service rather than the police. Secondly, police stations, constabularies and other policing units form part of a single overarching organisation. So there is almost certainly an entity to which one can write to opt out of such notifications.

I used to be a teacher (my health failed) and I still spend a lot of time being stressed about parents not being present in their kid's life, especially when it comes to internet safety. Please teach your kids basic safety, talk to them about their social media and how they are being treated online. Even if not the worst case scenario (pedophile tries to engage with them) I've noticed a lot of kids are just generally struggling with maintaining healthy boundaries and expectations. Its important for their lifelong safety and health that they have a grounded perspective about boundaries, both for themselves and respecting other people's boundaries.

I know it's a world-wide problem and I truly hope to see more people like you out there in the future because it's the only way these individuals will be caught. I understand the funding for the police and other institutions is at an all time low and therefore they can't always afford special units for this type of thing so to have folks like you who do this out of your own pocket, is something I hope more people will help fund. As a child who was trafficked, I hold you in the highest regard. I know what you do isnt perfect and I understand not everyone doing this type of thing goes about it in the proper way, emotions can run high and get out of control, but I will forever support it. With the rehabilitation topic, There is a difference between someone who is attracted to children and someone who are actively hunting out children to abuse them. A person making contact with a child to coerce them into anything IS a predator. They are a criminal. That not “mental health” or anything it’s a conscious choice to damage someone for the rest of their life. Someone who is actually out trying to contact children has stepped over that line and is not deserving of rehabilitation at all Where it’s complicated is imagine a kid who was groomed as a young child, abused and from a broken messed up home and then as an adult they realise f**k they have that attraction in them and they don’t know what to do (since a lot of offenders have previous sexual abuse). To say those people BEFORE they step into the world of being and offender aren’t deserving of any help is sketchy and doesn’t really help anyone. Plus if they’re not deserving of help then why not offend if they’re already the worst possible thing they can be? But an OFFENDER is an offender. A predator is a predator. They’re animals by that point and they don’t deserve to be treated with any respect.

I think about the ages of these predators. If someone is in their 40s now, and they spent more than half of their lives victimising children, how can they be rehabilitated? They probably believe they weren't doing anything wrong or that they wouldn't get caught. We're seeing prosecutions now of people in their 80s. They always knew this was wrong and prided themselves on being above the law because noone would believe children. Obviously, we should help people who are worried about offending, before they offend.

I wish paedo hunters were taken more seriously and added to the police teams as a part of their force (I know they kinda already are in a way), when I worked in a call centre; one call I had received was going as all other calls would usually go. All of a sudden, the lady on the other end of the line broke down and started crying. I asked if she was okay and needed a minute, that I could call her back when she felt better. Then she explained to me that she had just found out her husband had been molesting their youngest granddaughter 😞, my heart absolutely shattered hearing that and I couldn’t explain to her how sorry I was to know something so horrendous had happened. She was so broken, so disoriented and sounded like she would never be able to recover from the news. Not sure what happened to her husband but I hope he was sent to jail, just thinking of her poor granddaughter who would have to live with that trauma the rest of her life… I can’t remember how old she said she was but it doesn’t matter, whether it’s a toddler, young child or even a teen; the body remembers trauma even if mentally you try your best to block it out. Even years of therapy couldn’t possibly make you forget or fully come back from it, especially when it’s a family member… it completely destroys your ability to trust again. It’s the worst kind of violation you could do to a child, hope that the laws start changing and that paedos are put on the same pedestal as murderers. 😒
