It's a great project we'll done. As a motorcycle mechanic for over 40 yrs I'd like to point out a couple of things. The shock is losing around 30% of it travel when you sit on it. It should have sag but nowhere near that amount ( it's not a mtb) Whoever said the rake is to steep is right. It might be worth getting a frame designer it to take a look at it. Just my opinion Like I said before well done that took a lot of hard work to get it where it is.

Thanks. What’s the solution for the rear shock? I’m not sure I understand. Is it supposed to be stiffer or the geometry is wrong?
@kinza999
@kinza999 4 ай бұрын
@ladiandmargaret to me it looks like the linkage is wrong but very hard to say how to fix it from just seeing a video of it. The ratio (lengths) on the linkage makes a huge difference. Look at Honda and Yamaha MX bikes for reference.

But what is it supposed to do vs what it does now?
@kinza999
@kinza999 4 ай бұрын
@ladiandmargaret from the video it looks like it moves 30 + percentage when you sit on it. So if it has 180mm travel you're loosing 60mm. It also looks like it let's the swing arm travel at the same rate and doesn't ramp up. But this is all from watching, if there's a M/C frame place or suspension place near you it might be worth them looking at it. I could be totally wrong, it's just something doesn't look right

i love it, i think it's mostly perfect. id like to add my suggestions to the subframe assembly, specifically. 1- while still retaining your 18/21 wheels, have a Small Medium and Large subframe option. keeps the seat in the same forward to back position, just adjusts the up and down geometry by about an inch each. 34, 35, and 36 inches would be about right. use the same four mounting bolts for all for all three subframes. 2- extend the subframe out a bit farther, to have the ability for a small luggage rack behind the rider. if the bike is positioned as a commuter, you need to have the option to carry more than the storage compartment inside the subframe will offer. wearing a backpack on a bike sucks. this will also offer a bit better mud and rain protection when getting slung off the back wheel onto your back. 3- the storage box inside the subframe could have panels that attach to the outside edge of the tubing, vs inside, so you can take advantage of that extra space? 4- i would consider a slightly longer/wider/thicker seat for all day comfort. and possibly a bit bigger rear taillight for better visibility to cars behind you. experience: 2013 Honda CRF250L owned since new, 80,000 km ridden 70% dirt and mountain roads, street, trail, single track, enduro, mini adventure riding, moto camping, multi day multi week multi country rides

Not sure if the shock can handle it, but a tandem seat would be nice (it could be sold as an option or an add-on). Another option would be a seat+rack option or a rack add-on). Also, for adjustability, you could add 2-4 extra mounting holes to all 4 mounting points of the seat (maybe with silicon plugs to use in the holes not in use)

The storm you were facing at 10:06 had a wall cloud from a super cell storm called the Mesocyclone. A low hanging cloud in the storm that can cause rotation and tornadoes. Cold, dry air colliding with warm moist air creates instability causing wall clouds. In mountainous locations these results are less likely. With no mountains, in the plains the chances are higher for more wall clouds, severe storms. Gorgeous storms.

You should move the controller towards the steering assembly. I would go as close as you can. Otherwise the wheel will kick rocks at it and damage those beautiful black fins. If you have it near the steering assembly, and still on the bottom of the battery housing, you'll still get a pretty direct air flow for cooling but the wheel guard will protect it from any rocks the wheel kicks up.

Impressive! I keep seeing a rear fender that mounts hinged on swing arm end caps acting as chain guard also. Opposite end floating under seat. Then could be easily lifted up and back for maintenance . Pivoting on spring loaded hinges...That's HAVOC!!!! Also couldn't you install solar strip on top of battery housing that charges a decent size capacitor , that in return keeps battery pack charged longer if ran in a series....Solar,Cap,Batt,Motor. Proper environmental conditions may be self charged. Game changer. I have designed. Contact me if interested.

Looks really cool! Considering you'd like it to be comfortable for tall people, it would be nice to have an adjustable seat. The frame for the seat looks simple enough, that it might have a "slide-able" extensions, to move the seat a little further, which can be adjusted on the go, depending on who's driving or what terrain they drive in.

I don't get why you would change the tires and rear shock. You have a completely open downtube. Either put multiple mount points along the downtube so the seat can be mounted higher/lower or make the yellow seat subframe a hinged parallelogram that can be bolted at any angle.

Just a thought: Where the rear tire support attaches to the center of the bike; At that point you could attach the rear/bottom seat attachment point, which would provide a stronger seat support and less stress on the battery bank housing. Again just a thought as esthetically it may not be as pleasing to the eye as your current design. Still, it would strengthen your design.

I have just a couple of questions that I didn't see answered yet: Will there be any DIY plans available for those of us who want to build one ourselves but customized for our tastes/preferences? Does the onboard charger have the smarts to connect to AC EV chargers (reading max current) (multi voltage 120, 208, 240)? What is the suspension travel amount for the rear tire? At what speed is the stated range of 75 miles taken? What about at 65 mph? Loving the project 👍

Just manufacture different subframes with different seat heights and size them like one would with a bicycle purchase. The mounting points for the subframe would remain the same and you won’t sacrifice suspension travel or the advantage of larger diameter wheels. Cheap easy fix

@@ladiandmargaret well some do sell with thinner seats, but most don’t simply because the packaging doesn’t allow for it as there simply isn’t room for a lower position. Also most bikes aren’t built so that even a 6’2" person would struggle to flatfoot it like yours. You have acres of empty space underneath your seat frame, so you could make a lower seat frame as a cost option. Weird you can’t see that honestly. If these ever take off in significant volume, guarantee an aftermarket manufacturer would be churning out lower seat frames.

I absolutely love the minimal look and design of this motorcycle. But being heavier tall guy I'd prefer more vertical heavier rear support for seat. Seat could be lower and use blocks to raise seat or tall foam seat. maybe make it even longer wheelbase. OH and if at all possible solid mag wheels, no spokes. Probably not possible. Would radically change the looks, which is criminal. But I'm all about practical over looks. Your an amazing engineer!

If you include some regular mounting points with a standard bolt size you could get a lot of inspiration from community additions from your first batch of customers building their own cases, gps mounts, lock mounts, etc

6:58 - I'd think that 2 plates welded diagonally from the existing seat frame mounts would give people options for seat height and they could move the lower mounts or the upper mounts individual or move them simultaneously to pull the seat closer to the bike or further away, depending on the riders size and weight of course.... Maybe a plastic container could be added inside the seat frame as a sort of "Glove box" for storage that should be lockable and removable. That would make this thing a great grocery getter or to run errands locally.... I'd love to test this where I live in the Appalachian Mountains of PA. 😁👍🖤

Great product. Seriously. Some small ideas for you. For seat adjustability: It seems that the seat is connected to the chassis by four bolt points. Couldn't you create some threaded holes at lower heights? If there is a structural limit for the attachment points, then an optional seat frame which slopes to a lower point. Since this is a bike for the modern age and beyond, it should have built in discreet cameras. Full 360 degrees and maybe even more, like helmet/rider POV. This will enhance insurance liability as well as theft control, so build in streaming to a cloud server or a social media platform. This and a LoJack will discourage theft. You're awesome, keep up the great work!

To much 0-70mph pulls!(200amp controller with 3.5t motor) Anyway I agree the seat needs more adjustability. I would not want the tire size to besmaller and sacrifice top speed. Maybe play with the shock length as you said. Also I'd make different seat frame options or make it adjustable somehow. I'm 5.5 ft tall with a short inseam unfortunately. Did some measurements and I'd need about 800ish MM tall seat height or less. Looking to upgrade. I appreciate the time you have spent on the prototype. You'd only need a comparatively small gap/bay to put them in. There should indeed be a compartment under the seat, for helmet and chain to be able to lock your bike up to something at the very least. And if you make those with EU plugs, oh yeah.

I've owned a 2017 Zero SR since 2019 (I bought it used, but have owned it for 5 years). Here are my tips to make your motorcycle profitable: 1) Your 'open' frame is going to be your most important design element. Why? Because it 'can be filled'. With a helmet, groceries, stuff in general. One of the BIG downsides of any motorycle is lack of storage. They are only good for hauling 1 person around. You can't run to the store and get milk, or store your helmet securely in the bike. Your open design really lends itself to on/in-bike storage capacity. Urban riders will kill for that functionality. 2) The BIG thing holding back EV's is 'charging time'. On a level 2 charger, my Zero takes 4 hours to charge. That's 3.5 hours to long. Put in fast-charge capability. This way people will feel free to use the bike without fear of running out of juice. It also reduces the impact of short range. If people know they can charge in 30 minutes, they won't care about range or battery size (as much). 3) Make an 'urban' version, with tires meant more for the road. Knobbies look cool, but range/handling/comfort improve with road orientated tires. - I see your bike is for sale for $7,500ish... I bought my Zero used for $10k. (less than 2k miles). The Zero is far more 'real' bike... Lower your prices...

What about a rear fender? In the wet weather, mud or other fluids you may ride through, it may be necessary 💩. (Depending on what major u.s. city you may be riding in.) Great work, Sir. Thank you for sharing this with us. It shows that you put your blood, sweat, and tears into all of your builds. Keep up the good work. Quality is important to you and it shows.

just add extra holes for the seat to be unbolted and rebolted to another adjustment. 37" seat height is huge!

I've been watching your videos for a long time, thank you very much. I got long Covid, and during the Covid lockdown I had my B-52 Bomber Bike stolen. I built this bike before the Ebike surge and before Covid and I loved riding it. When I showed the video of the bike being stolen, to the police, they said, "sorry we can't help you". So anyway, to make a long story shorter.................. Thanks for building the idea I had for my next bike. By the way, I haven't even finished watching this video yet, But there's a bike out there called "Ranger". It has an adjustable seat that works with a pneumatic tube, and it works on the fly. Anyway great job on the bike. I want one please. Thank you very much again. Have a good day. Namaste. doug

Why not using plates with 3 inline holes for mounting the seat frame in different heights. Changing wheel size and or suspension would change geometry ...
@aldee3018
@aldee3018 2 ай бұрын
the only thing i would is ask if it would be possible to add extra bolt holes to be able to adjust the seat height but over all it's a great looking e-bike or e-motorcycle.

Congratulations on your project! I'm not planning to own an ebike yet because I know time will come,an innovator like you is on the way,will it balance if placed on a dirtbike stand? It looks like the battery is too long extended near the front wheel,its not a dirtbike but a rider that hits a bump will not just seat as you mentioned the riders weight will balance the weight as seated.

The front part of the seat needs to be slimmer to allow”sitting on the “tank” and performing aggressive cornering off-road. The seat may need to continue up to the handlebars more.

For off-road riding you need to be able to move all the way forward and far back. Maybe have an optional off-road seat?

Love the bike it looks awesome! I would be doing more on road riding so 17inch supermoto wheels is the first thing I will change to. If you test it in that configuration so your future customers will have an idea how it will work.

Amazing project well done. Also just your entrepreneurial mindset, it is very rare to witness this. On another note, 113 km/h, is the front break not a bit to small for speeds like this. I have no clue, i can only compare to my motorbike (Honda Africa Twin) which has to big front breaking disks. The foot rests also look like they are a bit narrow (close to each other). So only these two points from me, nothing campared to you have designed this great e-bike. I know it is a much bigger job that people think. Looking forward to see the final product.. 🙂

Have you thought of mounting motor directly on the wheel hub or at the end of swingarm thereby doing away with a chain? Also enabling reverse and better regen?
