Ladies of the evening (or call girls, escorts, streetwalkers, etc) can be found in almost every city on the planet, and the world's oldest profession is no stranger to the Philippines. The difference, however, is a question of motivation. The ladies of the evening that you find here are often prisoners of economic desperation, and they see no other way out - they're ladies by day, and paid companions at night!

My first trip to the Philippines , I was baffled by the ladies of the evening. Found them actually kind of annoying. White guy walking alone and trust me you get your share of attention from them. My experience is with Cebu. Lot's of students paying for school was my observation. I try to listen to the sales pitch before no thank you and walking away. One afternoon I was sitting on a bench on Fuente circle and this pretty young lady came up and started giving me her sales pitch. Where you from? You have GF? You stay near? You want to have fun? Usually the 3rd question is the difference between a friendly local and pokpok. She gave multiple rates short and long. While she was talking to me I noticed that she was leaking through her shirt... She was breastfeeding... I said how much for you to stay with me all week. She looked at me for a second and said " You feed me , take me where you go 12k. I reached into my pocket and I had 13k... I handed it to her and told her to go home and take care of her baby. She looked at me and said you don't want me? No, I don't. Go home and take care of your baby. How you know I have baby? I said you are leaking because they need fed. The girl started crying and hugged me saying thank you. I was a couple of days away from going home. It was what I had left from my extra cash. She needed it more than me. This was September of 2018. I went into Greenwich pizza nearby to meet some friends on the next trip in January of 2019. This lady working there walked up and hugged me out of nowhere. I didn't recognize her at first. Then I realized that it was the young lady from the circle. She was just getting off work. I told my friends that she used to be the desk clerk at the Rajah and we were friends. She told me later that the money I gave her helped her get that job. Paid for background check etc etc. She thanked me again and again. Foreigner with a soft heart? Yes . If it hadn't been for me seeing her leaking through her shirt, that never would have happened. I would have just walked away. There is more than one kind of happy ending in the Philippines... I think that one is the best.

As a young private in the U.S. Army stationed in Seoul back in 1973, you could not walk down the street without females trying to latch on to you. I felt so sorry for them. They were all struggling in a then, poor country and just trying to support their parents and siblings. I cannot tell you how many times I just gave them money and told them to go home and enjoy a night off. They were always stunned that I wanted nothing in return. I can tell you that the earnest hugs I received from them was worth more to me than any night of "pleasure."

Since when are high paying jobs "predicaments?" In our "most underdeveloped wealthy nation" (USA), now overpowered by religious prejudice and ignorance, we must vote MOTHERS into office (preferably atheists on bicycle with a science degree), and begin to look at the USA with truly open eyes, like this lyric from the big hit song WAP: "He bought a phone just for pictures of this wet ass pussy Pay my tuition just to kiss me on this wet ass pussy." Sugar daddies helping college girls because higher education is far from free!!! Many wives of doctors, lawyers, indian chiefs, etc. qualify as "streetwalkers;" depends on the imbalance between affection and $elf-intere$t? Illegal, "immoral" prostitution? Or do WASP-repressed USA mentalities indulge in prejudice, judgementalism, condemnation, and desire to punish, "in the image of," or behaving like, thier Big Daddy of the Universe, their imaginary friend, 'god?'. Our Pea on the street reporting the good, the bad and the ugly. Nice interview. You asked the hard questions with honesty, compassion and empathy on what had to be a very difficult interview for your guest. Well done Pea. I’m pretty much a moderate politically but I do agree with some liberals that managing issues like drug abuse and prostitution as a public health issue instead of a crime is a more affective manner to manage issues like drugs and prostitution in that it lowers demand and it greatly reduces the black market and its criminal activities. That way when these human beings finally admit to needing help they are already plugged into the public health system and that help is readily available. The U.S. in particular is an excellent example of how the war on drugs and the criminal justice approach has been a near total failure. I think that applies to prostitution as well.

Idealisticly it would provide protection and support in a western nation, however this is an Asian Catholic country. There are many different religions in the vast diverse nation. If you really do some deep diving and study the diversity of cultural norms, lore and religious understanding you will find to openly profess your career choice is prostitution is a huge hurdle for families to climb over. If you have watched many of PP's podcasts you would have seen most of the family norms are build around huwarang pamilya. Shame is a big thing in Pilipino culture across many diverse regions. I am married to a beautiful soul and her compassion and mercy for everyone makes her stand out among women and her country men. We have 3 amazing daughters who understand and honour the family name and our forebears. Now in saying the aforesaid and Filipina would rather lie and live a double life to not shame her parents and especially her grandparents. I deeply love this culture and over many many years have started to emotionally and spiritually love this culture. It must be said my wife is Mindanaoan and as such her southern sensitivities are different to our friends from northern Luzon as is our friends from Maynila and Cebu. Inconclusion if you were to Openly acknowledge Prostitution and both Tax it and require a professional register you would cause more pain and shame to their reputation and family standing in their society.

Try reading some books, or actually talking to some real prostitutes. They can truly make a lot of money, enjoy themselves and develop important social networks not available in normal jobs. Problems of self-medicating addictions abound because of the environment they work in: human mating rituals fueled by alcohol! In our "most underdeveloped wealthy nation" (USA), now overpowered by religious prejudice and ignorance, we must vote MOTHERS into office (preferably atheists on bicycle with a science degree), and begin to look at the USA with truly open eyes, like this lyric from the big hit song WAP: "He bought a phone just for pictures of this wet ass pussy Pay my tuition just to kiss me on this wet ass pussy." There is no international problem with this. Its not a problem if the right person picks the right job they like. The problems are the clients who can't behave themself when they are booking her service. And the way that even Pie isn't saying sex and prostitution but using metaphores isn't helping at all.
@TheFilipinaPea

Well you’d have to take that up with KZbin then - if I use the word ‘prostitute’, etc, in the video itself, it can become demonetized. KZbin forces us to use metaphors.

@@TheFilipinaPea Exactly, some people don’t think before texting. Furthermore, this is an international problem created by poverty. The commenter seriously don’t think that a young woman wakes up in the morning and think it is a good idea to walk the streets? It seems that this person has rose or pink coloured glasses, or that this it is wishful thinking? Does he think that having to give oneself to a total stranger, often old, or durty or dangerous is fun, without risk and the only answer to miser and decline? Women who are forced into the profession deserve all the help and respect we can give them. And I am not a preacher, a do-goodder, or a Saint, far from that. Just a normal, “regular” bloke.

Is she even being exploited by the men she beds? Sounds to me like it's a totally fair exchange and she is doing it willingly. How is that exploitation? I grew up poor and spent the first 30 years of my life extremely poor, putting myself through university with a scholarship from good grades but with no help from family or any other government programs. I had no option for such an easy source of cash. Don't forget that for many people, these types of jobs aren't even on the table, so they end up doing disgusting and dangerous labor type work and occasionally fixing something. This was my case and I worked 3 jobs for a while as I needed money for my car so I could have a car to go to work to make money to fix my car. I worked on roofs with no safety equipment and questionable insurance and also janitorial work late at night. I made far, far less money doing those jobs (and in some cases never even received my paychecks) than this young lady does. Im not saying that I would have done prostitution if I had the option, but I am saying that it is an option she chose because it was easy. That's not what exploitation looks like.

Miss Pea, this really breaks my heart. To see a beautiful girl like her have to do this kind of work I wish there was something we could do but with so much poverty in the Philippines it seems like an endless circle. Most people cannot fathom what this woman must be going through. There’s no way I could ever put her down or think bad of her. She’s got to survive. She seems like a nice girl with a good heart. I guess the most we can do is pray for her and all those woman who are forced into this kind of life. You know how much I love your country Pea and I wish I could help everyone like her to have a better life. Let’s hope for a change in your country so those who are stuck in financial difficulties can see light at the end of the tunnel and be able to live a better life. Take care Pea and thank you for bringing this young lady on. She is a brave person. I hope things change for her.

They are not forced into this life generally in the Philippines. However, China is buying young girls from SE Asia and forcing them into prostitution and filling them with meth so they dont commit suicide. If you truly want to help girls like this, pray for the people that they would stop electing leftists. The Philippine gov does all it can to destroy the Philippine economy. From price controls on rice to shutting down metal and coal mines to taxing catholics and giving the money to muslims. It is one leftist pit. And its going to get far worse now that America is headed by leftists. Gas prices all over the world are spiking and going to go much higher. This will devastate the Philippines. I am moving there soon to start an orphanage and several businesses. I will teach the orphans all about business. They will need all the knowledge they can get in the coming economic depression. It is going to get super ugly.

You’re correct Pea, I think the motivation is usually 100% economic necessity. Very often the women are single moms, raising kids by themselves, victims of “shoot and scoot” guys- both foreigners and local guys. Sadly, Child support apparently doesn’t apply very often in the Philippines.

I think there are a number of reasons why people get into this line of work, even in the west. I think that the financial gain is quite often a motivator regardless of current financial situation. I do think one important takeaway from this video is that you should always treat people as people, regardless or race, profession, sexual persuasion or anything else. I also think there is no excuse to hit a woman (unless she's attacking you of course)

Realize that women are not men. They generally need emotional investment... If a woman is not there for pleasure, you aren't going to "give" it to her in a paid hour despite all of your efforts or intentions. It's simply a job for her and there is likely no way that she's going to derive pleasure from any physical act in which she is somewhat ashamed of. There is a REASON she doesn't allow kissing, and we can assume that it's to distance herself from any romanticism or feelings that may intermix work and pleasure. I think any "walker" who enjoys her work to that level might have some deeper issues than just financial woes. I do share your good wishes for this girl. but I hope that she never finds "pleasure" in this line of work, and continues to distance herself from it as she focuses on other means of support.

I only want to point out that in your poverty or is there hope video you talked to a 60 year old construction worker who worked 6 days a week for $200 per month ($2200 per year) with a family of four and then the comment for this young woman was $8000 per year was not much money surprised me when you have shown that there is far less opportunity for men to make a decent living. In our "most underdeveloped wealthy nation" (USA), now overpowered by religious prejudice and ignorance, we must vote MOTHERS into office (preferably atheists on bicycle with a science degree), and begin to look at the USA with truly open eyes, like this lyric from the big hit song WAP: "He bought a phone just for pictures of this wet ass pussy Pay my tuition just to kiss me on this wet ass pussy." Many wives of doctors, lawyers, indian chiefs, etc. qualify as "streetwalkers;" depends on the imbalance between affection and $elf-intere$t? Illegal, "immoral" prostitution?
