You can sense the disdain, fear and uncomfortableness he brought out in those who sought to disparage him. This man did so much to shape my personality and racial views over the years. A true American treasure. This great, agile mind, with a 5th grade reading level... ( and possible dyslexia ), could hold his convictions to anyone, kings or paupers. Notice also, how they try to confuse him by using his quotes against him, and by obfuscation, like that old man saying "that's not true" about racial identification and Ali shuts him down.
@johncarden89854 жыл бұрын
Although lauded and celebrated in later life, Ali was hated by the press, politicians, BBC etc at the time. I remember Henry Cooper continuously and deliberately calling him "Clay" in a BBC interview. The US government was trying to jail him for refusing to go to to Vietnam. The attitudes shown in the interview were normality at the time. I always thought it was hypocrisy of the media to give him sainthood after death when they made his life hell at the time.

Africa is a conquered continent as well
@lionelangemario9 жыл бұрын
D Money I am not sure what you mean by a "conquered continent" but it's certainly true that Africa still has a lot of problems that you guys have no idea about. Of course, it's not as bad as the media make it seem (and I can even say that some good aspects of the life in Africa would seem paradise for a black American) but...Africa started to gain its independence in the 60's (a little like black America actually) so, to expect an entire continent to shine only 50-60 years after everything Africa has been through is not realistic. It would be like asking to a 5 or a 6 years old to go find a job. Some African Americans don't realize that Until the 50's, Africans were still enslaved by white Europeans in African. That's not so long ago. So, they have a lot to deal with themselves and they are doing a good job in my mind given the circumstances. Some black Americans think they have a hard time in America but in the eyes of many Africans, living in America is like a walk in a park. Of course, I'm caricaturing because each and every of the 50+ countries of Africa has its own history. And every situation is different...some countries are doing much better than others. But I just wanted to give you an idea. However, things are starting to get much better in Africa in general since the last 5-6 years and I have no doubts that soon enough, the rest of the world will run and fight to go live in Africa. It's already started actually because some Europeans are doing just that right now. Too bad, Europeans know much more Africa than African Americans. They prefer to stay in America, never visit even once in their life their original continent and pretend Africans don't love them...bad joke at best...
